If Texans win next Sunday at 1 pm, REST EVERYONE (except Brady)!

Teams who have traditionally rested people, like the Colts and Bengals, suggest that they won't do it this year.

I don't buy it, but this article suggests that everyone will play to win.

Every NFL team plans to play to win in Week 17 - NFL.com

Sure... I fully expect the Jaguars and Chiefs will play to win....for about 35 minutes before they go into full ****** mode competing with each other for the most buttfumbles. It's not like anyone will be able to tell the difference with them anyway.:D

The only way the NFL can fix this is if they start a lottery with the top 5 picks and the worst 5 teams.

if houston loses, play to win

if houston wins, play to rest guys that need it

Yeah even though I would prefer the 4th seed over the 3rd, there is a chance that when we step on the field we are locked to the 3rd seed at worst (if the Bengals win Ravens).

I think next Sunday's game scheduling favours us greatly. Two of the three decisive games by our competition regarding our seeding are played before we step on the field.

Even though I'm a huge believer in rhythm and momentum being two of the most important factors in deciding football games, it's apparent that our current health situation is much more troublesome than those two factors. Last week we had 17 guys questionnable on the injury report at some point of the week, and it's not only about the classic BB shennanigans.

Romeo Crennel defenses always play well against Manning

Yeah even though I would prefer the 4th seed over the 3rd,

I don't get this thinking at all. Say Pats get 3 seed. Pats will beat Cincy I believe and Ravens beat the Colts. Pats have a great chance to beat Denver and same with the Ravens beating Houston. Why give up the shot to host the AFCC game.

I agree. Home field advantage is worth more than earlier round opponents. I'll take the Pats against any of the other AFC teams. But if/when we get to the AFCC game, I'd like to have it at Foxboro.

This was the first thought I had after the results from last weekend.

If the Texans win, then we have to assume that the bye is out of reach with Broncos playing the Chiefs. That would also mean that finishing on the 3rd seed would mean playing the Broncos on the divisional round.

I would much rather have the Broncos on the Conference finals, because that would give us 1 extra week to heal before we face them. I think that 1 week could be a difference maker.

Also, the wildcard game against the Colts is more favourable IMO than a game against the Bengals. We have lost to 49ers, Ravens, Seahawks and Cardinals, from which only the Ravens have a suspect defense (although they were much healthier when they faced us than they are now). So I would much rather play against the Colts good offense and suspect defense, than the Bengals stout defense and slightly above par offense.

So if the Texans win, I would like to see both TEs, Welker and Lloyd receive as few snaps as possible (more playing time for backups, a lot of rotation among the starters, no hurry-up, slow drives using up as much clock as possible.. etc.). Also on defense, Wilfork, Jones, Mayo, Spikes, Talib and Dennard need as much rest as possible (Wilfork because of reducing his possible fatigue, others because of health issues).

HOWEVER, I would not sit Brady, because he needs to keep his rhythm going. History has shown us that sitting starting QB's in week 17 doesn't usually translate to playoff success. We don't want to increase the risk of Brady having a slow start, because that is the biggest issue besides health in our offense right now.

Dear moron,

If the patriots rest everyone and the Dolphins win and somehow the Chiefs win will you please post your address?:)
