Game Stats:

1st Downs
SF - 19
NE - 32

Total Yards
SF - 383
NE - 520

Total Plays
SF - 65
NE - 92

What won the game for SF was:

(1) Turnovers - 4 for NE, 2 for SF
(2) Lucky fumble recoveries - ESPN has SF recovering 6 of the 7 fumbles in the game
(3) Special Teams/Field Position - NE was constantly in worse field position due to special teams, and that James KO return after the Pats tied it at 31 was huge

I'm not sure the Pats don't blow them out if they meet again.

The bigger question is how does our offense function under pressure on the oline and man to man. We didnt move the ball at all on them when they did that and until they went to zone for some reason.

Wouldn't be surprised if Kaepernick comes out the closet as the first openly gay NFL player. I'm dead serious. Couldn't stand this ugly mutt before this game and understandably I can't stand him even more after. He probably has 30 dudes back in San Fran ready to play all night. He's known to them as the "San Francisco 69er."

You posted this again? I bet you ARE one of the 30.

Cmon Cleveland!! Go out and beat Denver!!

Not trying to sweep anything under the rug, but in the long term, a loss like this will make a team like the Patriots focus on the small things even better.

34 points against the best defense in football ? Pretty impressive. On any given Sunday though, 9ers can't beat the ****ty Rams, a team we beat 45-7. Our Defense laid an egg the first 40 minutes, and then our special teams chokes right after we come ALL the way back, which hurts. Lots of moral victories here, Aldon Smith no sacks, coming back from 31-3, defense waking up mid third to cause some 3 and outs (off course they **** the bed after the long KO return).

Tighten up on D, get Gronk back, and this team will be tough to beat. Our D is our Achilles heel, but this team can score against excellent defenses, 76 points against 2 great D's in tough back to back games. 30 against Baltimore. I expected up to lose against Houston and SF, and though we lost to SF, the Pats are one damn tough team to beat, they NEVER give up 4 losses by a combined 11 points shows this team has a ton of pride. Lets get healthy, and lets get a big win against Jacksonville next week.

Our offensive line was not good tonight at all.

Tough loss, and the worst part is most likely having to go to Denver to get to the SB....I just have a hard time thinking Goodell and all the Manning lovers would ever let the Pats win that game in Denver....I can see it now, Denver gets 7 first downs via penalty...Pats showed some heart, but where was it in the first half? they played like they were in a fog...props to the people who went to the game - as a former season ticket holder for 16 or 17 years, games like this are horrible to attend because of the cold rain, just very uncomfortable...Pittsburgh game the Cassell year and a NYJ a year or two after that come to mind as similar weather....GO PATS, lets win the next two and let the chips fall where they may....

Who gave felger the black eye?

That was one of helluva performance we put in the second half...unfortunately it wasn't enough. Despite the lopsided start we refused to throw in the towel and as usual when two elite teams play it came down to a couple of plays here and there. Hell, Brady himself showed more fight and determination in that game than the Eagles have shown all year.

I'll just go ahead and say it, after this performance I fear NO team in the AFC. So we'll have to go into Denver and then Houston to get back to the Super Bowl. So be it, this team is going to New Orleans.

That said, I need to get something off my chest.

There is one thing to be said about discussing the team's flaws during the week, after all despite their dominance over the past decade this team DOES have flaws. The defense is not where it should be this far into the rebuild, we lack a consistent threat on the outside in the passing game, etc. etc. That's fine, Belichick is after all human and we should talk about his shortcomings.

But as a fan, to throw in the towel BEFORE HALFTIME when the defect is only 14?!?!?!!??

With this coach? This QB? And everything this team has accomplished over the last decade??!?!?!?!?!

****ing disgraceful. Christ, we are spoiled.

Bring on Jacksonville.

Looks like you're bothered by my comment...so it would make more sense if you were one of the 30.

Please don't try & tell me I'm the only one to ever insult another team/player. This is the internet - there's far worse things. Laugh and move on.

:confused2:

honestly, you should show up b4 the game first, and offer some thoughful convo, then afterwards if you win you can talk and have some guts to go along with it....

Just a few hits at a time:

I don't get the way the officials called the holding penalties tonight. They were very inconsistent with it.

All out blitz with Arrington on Crabtree was a stupid call.

The 3rd down prior to the Woodhead 4th was a play call that I really didn't get. That was a perfect time for the draw to Woodhead or the sneak for Brady.

This game is a perfect example of why you can't rely on turnovers, especially fumble recoveries.

The Patriots had better get used to playing in freezing rain, being that their stadium is located in the goddamn northeast.

Seriously, ball security was ******* atrocious all night long. The fumbles by Ridley, Vereen and Hernandez cost the Patriots this game in addition to the abysmal special teams play.

The Offense took forever to get going and severely limited their ability to run the ball and be balanced later in the game, and the game shouldn't have even been as close as it was really, the Patriots we're extremely lucky early on against the 49ers, who had their own fair share of mistakes and gaffes.

The Pats better pray that they have clear skies going forward.

The most sicking string of plays the entire night was the huge special teams play by the 49ers coming after the patriots tied the game, followed by the unacceptably horrendous defense and score immediately afterwards, talk about sucking all the momentum out of the team, if the Patriots don't allow that Special teams disaster i guarantee they win this game.

It was absolutely pathetic that a team like the 49ers who arent even an offensively oriented team can come into your building and drop 40 on you.

There is zero chance this team gets a bye now, even through their schedule is a cakewalk from here on out, Being the 3rd or 4th seed doesnt make a difference, you will need to go through both Denver and Houston to reach the Superbowl now in addition to whatever wildcard team gets hot through these last two games.

I'm going to refrain from sounding like Broncos fans after the Patriots game this year. We're better than that.

I posted this in OTG's thread and I'll leave it here too...

Going zone heavy in the first half combined with absolutely back breaking turnovers by the offense lost us this one. Eliminate one of those factors, and this is a Patriots win.

Good analysis. I really think we can take those guys if we see them again....i mean we scored 34 points on a team that averages 17 points scoring defense! Not only that, we protect the ball better and get gronk back we can definitely beat them.

Ridley was terrible tonight.. 9 carries for 2.6 ypc and one fumble and another almost-fumble.

Ridley's been terrible for 5 straight weeks besides gaping hole runs in the late 4th quarter.
