A friend and I were talking about this tonight. I claim that the 1994 San Diego Chargers are by far the worst team to ever be in the title game. Bobby Ross wasn't that great of a coach. Stan Humphries was pretty spare. And their running game of Ronnie Harmon/Natrome Means sucked too.

So what do you all think? Were the Neil O'Donnell 1995 Steelers worse?

1994 Chargers or the 1979 Rams... take your pick.. Stan Humphries was a gamer though... threw a great deep ball

2005 steelers, this aint gona be pretty....

Seahawks BIG 27-0

First Super Bowl shutout!!

2000 Giants, hands down.

any team that started neil o'donnell in the super bowl :bricks:

The Steelers were 2 Neil O'Donnel INT's from possibly pulling off a huge upset. The Cowboys were big favorites. That disqualifies that team from being the worst.

It's easy to point to the 1979 Rams b/c they were 9-7 in the regular season. But they too almost pulled off an upset and actually had a lead late in the game. So they're out.

The Chargers are a good guess. I always thought the Falcons team that played the Broncos was pretty poor. Some of the Broncos' Super Bowl teams weren't that special either.

I'll vote on the Chargers based on the fact that they shouldn't have made it there to begin with and then they got absolutley destroyed in the SB.

Conveniently left out of the discussion is the 1985 Patriots.

We would list an Indianapolis Colts team, but you need one to actually make the Super Bowl to be included in the discussion.

Also conveniently left out of the discussion are any Peyton Manning-led Colts teams because they.......................uh, that's right, they haven't been to any Super Bowls! Never mind. HA HA HA HA HA

a team of some distinction

with a holy roller coach, coke-sniffing WRs and RBs, an all-world OG who says the QB oughta be wearing a skirt, and the owner in deep financial straits. long remembered, not forgotten.
however, a cincinnati bengals team that lost to da jiints, mid 80s also comes to mind. ""ickey shuffle" runnin' around my brain.

If the 05' Steelers are going to be considered then it's only fair that the 85' Patriots are too. They made it to the Super Bowl nearly the exact same way. The only difference is I think the Steelers win it this year.

'94 chargers are definitely a good choice

I think I would have to agree with it.

I'm undecided between Bud Dry and Bud Ice

Of course you'll all remember BUD BOWL IV (1991) - Budweiser 38, Bud Dry 6.

The game long termed as "The Tidy Bowl", fans in the metropolitan St. Louis area were outraged when NBC executives cut away from the action to run promos for the upcoming premiere of "Reasonable Doubts" starring Mark Harmon & Marlee Matlin. The game was a blowout, with newcomer Bud Dry unable to recover from a Bud Bowl record of seven turnovers. Several Bud Dry bottles admitted later that they came out "flat" due to some equipment snafus involving improperly tightened bottlecaps.

But who can forget the pitiful defense demonstrated by Bud Ice in BUD BOWL VIII (1995 - Budweiser 51, Bud Ice 24)

Ultimately I guess you have to credit Coach Budka for motivating his team with bulletin board fodder of quotes from Bud Ice players joking about "beachwood aging." The game wasn't even as close as the score would indicate. There was also that scary moment of tragedy when several Bud players had to be hospitalized after spraying beer wildly after their signature "cabbage patch" endzone dance.

XXIV 1990 San Francisco 55, Denver 10
XXII 1988 Washington 42, Denver 10
XXI 1987 N.Y. Giants 39, Denver 20

'nuff said

That's right - he is the reigning Champ! Three times over no less - and two time SB MVP!

Thanks for making me feel better Tony. You're a swell guy!

The 1991 Bud Dry team > the 1995 Bud Ice team

Other than the year that Norwood missed the field goal against the Giants those Bills teams were pretty much the AFC sacrificial lambs to the Cowboys and Redskins. Although that is probably more a reflection of the AFC in the 90's as a whole than the Bills

You make a good point.... and Bud Ice has more alcohol as well... I'm still not sure what the whole "Dry" thing was all about.
