Big Vince Appreciation Thread

Wilfork doesn't need an appreciation thread because if you are a Pats fan you have no reason to ever disrespect or undervalue Vince and his role on defense,he should always be appreciated in every game because he always gives 100%,even when he is off his game.

Just like Brady and Gronkowski, this guy should be an afterthought in people's minds when it comes to degrading them when they have a bad game now and then.

There are guys on this team that should never be disrespected because of their overall contributions to the team...and those 3 above are prime examples.

Willie McGinest called him Vince Forklift on NFLNE,last night.
What a great nickname:rocker:

During the game last night...he reminded me that he has amended his Christmas wish list to add an adult XL #75, in blue. He and I both marveled at the game Vince had last night. It was a Thanksgiving treat.

I think I maybe have to get two jerseys, one for him, one for me.

Just get one... in original Vince size :D

Vince is a beast.

And every now and then, he brings home the groceries too.

Speaking of nicknames.....how about "VW Bus"??!! Anyone over 35 should get that!

My #1 seed Fantasy Football team is named Vince Wilfork You Up, no explanation needed there :D

Big Vince is the Steven Jackson of our Defense.

Always out there busting his ass (Look at his snap count vs any other DT his size in the league) but rarely surrounded by talent on his side of the ball.
Plus, a really nice guy off the field to boot.

My hat's off to Big Vince, he's an absolute asset.

Interestingly, I think that he and Jackson were drafted the same year. A lot of Patsfans were hoping that the Pats would draft Jackson, but they traded a 2nd for Dillon instead and drafted Vince. Drafting Jackson would have been a very good move. Drafting Wilfork was GREAT.

More often than not I now focus on the d-line when the other team has the ball, and it's because of Vince. It's fun to watch an elite player in his prime.

Deserves all the appreciation that will be forthcoming in this thread.

Top player and seems like a top guy as well, glad he's a Patriot.

That hit is frickin amazing.

For years he's been the guy that goes to pro bowl after pro bowl, has the respect of opposing players and coaches, and quietly does the underappreciated job in the 2-gap scheme (draw double teams and make sure he must be accounted for, freeing up the Lbs to be the playmakers.)

I'm not smart enough to know whether it's because of scheme or him notching up an already good game, but for the last year or so he's been on a whole different level... not just playing that underappreciated role but single-handedly blowing things up several plays every game, sometimes spectacularly.

I'd be very happy with myself if I were half the man Vince is... what am I saying, I am half the man Vince is...

We hardly two gap any more though, it's worth noting. It does factor in as BB still likes to bring in an element of 3-4, but not much.

The fact we one gap a lot more has allowed him to be a lot more aggressive but I do feel a times he's inconsistent when we do one gap. With a guy like Vince and guys like Spikes and Mayo on the team, I do wish we would utilise more 3-4 and two gap schemes. I've always thought they were more suited to those roles.

For those who aren't aware, one of the exhibits at Patriot Place is/was a scale that you get on and it tells you the difference in your weight and Big Vince's. It doesn't tell you in pounds, it tells you in a picture of someone else, either another player or a cheerleader.

He's an incredibly gifted athlete in a huge body. A rare find.

Vince Wilfork has been my binky since before the Pats even drafted him. I saw his pre-draft story on the NFL Network. I said to myself, what a good kid and from the highlights, I thought that he would be a good fit here. I watched that draft with great interest and I nearly fell off my chair with joy when he fell to the Pats and they drafted him. As usual my female intuition was correct. ;)
Vince is a great player on the field and by all accounts a real cool dude off the field. I have always liked him and I am so happy that the Pats had the opportunity to pick him in the draft. :rocker:

I remember sitting in my car and listening to him being interviewed on radio right after he was drafted. I was very impressed with how mature and eloquent he sounded. I never could have dreamed that he'd be this great, but sure enough, he is.

Beast mode again last night...he seems to be getting better as the game goes on, leaving him out there for three downs and getting him off the nose has really increased his stamina...

...another great game by our defensive leader....

+1 The big guy relishes the dirty work up front.

Vince was the best DL on that field last night :rocker:

Darn right, man! I wish more here acknowledged how great he was last night, he ruled the interior and set the rest of the defense free.

Big Vince is playing for the Nobel Prize like he's the Large Hadron Collider smashing linepersons together to reveal the Higgs Boson from the hapless ballcarrier
