KC Joyner on Why the Ravens are Pretenders, not Contenders

The biggest obstacle the Ravens will be to us will be stealing a bye away...

I love this "bye-week is ours to lose" mentality that has developed in the Patriots fanbase.

SB or bust. :)

Time for a bump. I will be very much surprised if the Ravens finish better than 2-2 the rest of the way. I expect 11-5 or worse, and the #4 seed in the AFC. There's an outside chance they could lose the division to either Cincinnati or Pittsburgh.

Remaining schedule:

- Ravens: @Washington (6-6), Denver (9-3), NY Giants (7-5), @Cincinnati (7-5) (cumulative record currently 29-19. 3 of those teams are fighting for playoff spots, the other is already in.

- Pittsburgh (7-5, 1-1 vs. Ravens): San Diego (4-8), @Dallas (6-6), Cincinnati (7-5), Cleveland (4-8) (cumulative record currently 21-27).

- Cincinnati (7-5, 0-1 vs. Ravens): Dallas (6-6), @Philadelphia (3-9), @Pittsburgh (7-5), Baltimore (9-3) (cumulative record currently 25-23).

Suggs has a torn bicep and could miss the rest of the season. Even if he doesn't and plays with a partially torn one that's going to make him much less effective both rushing the passer and tackling. If they were to lose out I wouldn't be completely shocked.

Yup. Pretenders. Hopefully they'll beat Denver, lose to the Giants and Cincy, finish 10-6 with the #4 seed and host Indy, who just may beat them in Baltimore. If not, they'll be 1 and done.

They couldn't beat Batch and Cousins so the odds on them beating Manning are slim. Hopefully the weather sucks.

Rooting for Baltimore and Indy next week.
