Yep the "one pick wasn't his fault" is making its way around. Just heard it on ESPN

peyton has MVP numbers but 5-3 with a team that tim tebow had in the playoffs last year dose not say MVP at lest not right now, my vote goes to matt ryan and he's 8-0 falcons

Unfortunately voters who actually vote dont think this way . If manning is playing and having a good season he is the MVP. That is the rule. They may consider a co mvp with him but first priority for voters is how can we vote for manning.

And what about the pick that was dropped when he hurried up and threw it right to a defender?

Do they keep stats for "dropped picks"?

People make a pretty big deal about picks, but all QB's throw them. The good QB's overcome them.

And then the Ballwashing mediots magnify the achievement and hand those QBs the MVP

Who cares about MVP's? PM can have all the MVP's he want. give him 15 more of them and he will still be one of the greats, as he already is. give TFB ONE SB ring and he's the GOAT.

I believe that's kinda his point; they only track INTs not the dropped ones nor do they ignore the ones that weren't his fault. It points to how blind the media is to Manning that they often behave like homer fans when evaluating his play.

People don't make a pretty big deal about picks, they make a huge deal. Good QBs overcome their picks because they don't make a lot of them. PM lost his only other multi-pick game this season and was very close to losing this one.

I watched the Denver game. They weren't in any danger of losing that game.

And PM hasn't thrown an inordinate # of picks this season. Frankly, it's all kind of nitpicky stuff on both sides. Did he win the game? Yes. And that's why you play the games.

They allowed 17 unanswered points and were trailing in the 4th... In danger of losing is all opinion, but that sure looks like it to me.

I didn't say he has an inordinate number of picks; I actually alluded to the opposite stating that he's only had two multi-pick games this season. The team won the game, and contrary to what you and many in the media think NFL games aren't played for the sole sake of letting PM win them. However when the officials start spotting PIs and offensive holds late in the game to a tune of 60-10yds in PM's favor I can understand the confusion.

Denver was in no danger of losing, but the Patriots were in danger in the Denver game.

Come on, get with the program!! This is Peyton Manning we're talking about!

Manning has definitely been gifted some hardware over his career, but a lot of you guys are being ridiculous.

You'd be absolutely wetting yourself if TB was having the same season under the circumstance. On top of that, you guys are acting like his season thus far is just average and it's a huge reach for him to be the MVP.

He's on pace for 40 TDs 12 INT 4800 yds and he currently has the second highest passer rating of his career with a 69.5% completion percentage.

Brady was on pace for 32 TDs 10 INTs 4700 yds and he had his second highest passer rating of his career with a 65.8% completion percentage through 8 games in 2009. I certainly wasn't wetting myself; I was happy that it appeared he was going to regain his form, but I thought he looked like he had a ways to go...

Aaron Rodgers is the best player in the NFL, and it isn't that close. We'll see if the media can slobber on Manning one more time before 18 hangs up the cleats. I'm guessing they can and will.

Good thing I said in the same situation, which that wasn't.

Cool story though

Brady > Rodgers

Brady > Rodgers

Career-wise, yes. Now, no. The thing that separates Brady from nearly every other quarterback is his lack of mistakes. He throws the fewest INTs despite putting up huge production. But Rodgers is right there with him.

The thing that puts Rodgers over the top: he throws a better mid to deep ball than anyone else, throws it on the run, throws it hard, and throws it with pinpoint accuracy. While Brady is wiser than Rodgers and better at reading defenses, Rodgers is still the best in the game today. He opens up the entire field.

Look, I love Brady. I think he is the greatest quarterback of all-time, but at this point in his career, he does not throw the ball well with an arc. Whether it's 25 yards or 40 yards, the receiver rarely runs under the ball in stride. Maybe it's partly a WR problem, but I know there are a lot of open receivers way down the field the last few years that Rodgers hits between the numbers, and that is sometimes while backpedaling.

Maybe I'm nitpicking Brady, but you have to nitpick when you have Rodgers in the conversation because Rodgers has no weakness.

Nope you didn't.

Maybe I misunderstood what you were trying to express. My assumption was "absolutely wetting yourself" was your way of conveying that fans of the Pats would be very excited. That in conjunction with the use of the singular circumstance lead me to believe you were referring to just the return from injury. If TB got injured, then traded, and then had his second best season statistically I think Pats' fans would be livid. I've never heard of people/animals wetting themselves in anger, so please forgive my confusion.

The metrics people use to judge QBs are all wrong. I mean, this Luck kid gets dinged because of completion %. But if you're scoring and moving the team, who cares?

Just like Brady with the TDs and completion rate being lower than the other top QBs.

Here we are witnessing a historic offense, an offense racking up ungodly numbers of first downs which is a testament to the consistent and almost unstoppable way they move the ball, and the metrics ding Brady for incompletions, and for the RBs running the ball into the end zone 12 times. Manning's Broncos and Rodger's Packers meanwhile have run it in a combined average of 3.5 times. The Patriots run it in about 8 TDs more, and if you take half of that and tack it onto Brady's rating, his would be higher than both Manning's and Rodger's.

You have to account for the fact that the Patriots are scoring 6 more points a game than GB and 3 more than Denver.

The Patriots have 232 first downs, GB 200 and Denver 183. So who cares about incompletions? They are totally irrelevant.
