Another opening TD drive by the opposing team. Another 50 yard completion with a secondary breakdown eerily reminiscent of previous gaffes. Sam Bradford was 22/30 against our porous secondary. We were lucky the Rams left 3 points on the board with a botched FG attempt before the half. 2 more 4th quarter drives allowed by the defense, which we were lucky weren't converted into points.

Same old problems. We were lucky to get out alive with a win. The trolls and chicken littles are going to have a field day with this one ...

I have to admit I thought "here we go again" when I saw that replay of the Seahawks touchdown bomb.

Is this a troll post?

How is giving up only 7 points a game a bad thing? WTF

I believe it's a joke and a shot at the likes of "12clutchfactor" "baltimorepatsfan" and "Teapot".

Given the passing numbers of Bradford, it's almost miraculous that the Rams got only the 7 points. It will be interesting to see the analysis of whether it was because of plays Bradford was leaving on the table or because the DBs were actually doing what they were supposed to be doing (first drive excepted, naturally).

I think most Pats fans would have to admit that they facepalmed pretty hard after that first touchdown. It was particularly bad just because the Pats had been burned badly by that same exactly play only two weeks before: it was evidence that Wilson, in particular, hadn't learned from an enormously costly mistake.

Then the Patriots went and spent the rest of the game dominating the Rams up and down the field, and that was that. I could definitely see this being a real turning point for the team - a week where they figured out, strategically, what their identity is.

Probably a little bit of both…but this game was the opposite way Super Bowl XX when for us. Today, we caught all the breaks (injuries, penalties, balls bouncing our way, turnovers, etc) and that some a little something with our guys playing well.
It's amazing how 5 or 6 plays not only affect the outcome, but turn a possibly competitive game into a blowout.
I'll take the win any day...

What was interesting to me, although I didn't focus on it for every play, was that the CBs seemed to be consistently competitive, which is something neither McCourty nor Arrington have been. Again, I'd have to watch it again, or see others analyze it, but that's the impression I got.

It certainly didn't hurt that the Patriots were able to take advantage of that Rams O-line, either.

Time to blow it up over the bye. Think Rams will give up Kellen Clemens for Brady, Wilfork, half a bag of fiery red cheetos and a $25 giftcard to Starbucks?

Just face it -- there's no way this team, as currently constituted, will EVER win a game 72-0.

You can't really directly compare it like that. The Pats played a lot more aggressive/tighter coverages today.

From where I sat, it looked like the Rams had to work for their completions, with the obvious exception of the first TD. . There were only a couple where WRs were wide open. Most were completed into tight coverage and I think it put pressure on them.

There were some great break-ups, from Spikes and someone else, where they took gambles inside on guys running quick slants and it worked.

Once the game was entering blowout territory, I spent more time "geeking it up" and watching our DBs, who for the most part did their bit. There was quite a lot of man coverage, with lots of gimmes underneath. All in all, it looked a bit tigher than earlier games.

Did you get to the game, btw? We got back (to Beckenham) about half an hour ago.

Unfortunately not, didn't have the funds to go with the trains + hotel + game ticket etc :(

Next time the Patriots are in town I will be going!

Bradford eanred those 7 points with 3-3-69 on the first drive.
After that he was 19-27-136. with an Int 2-9 3rd down conversions and 2 sacks.
I think his passing numbers suggest exactly 7 points when you add in his kicker missed a FG and they were so far behind that FGs late were pointless.

19-27-136 is far from impressive, not is 2/9 3rd downs.

Breaks? They couldn't stop our offense and after the first drive they did nothing on our defense.

How obvious does this stuff have to be?

Never go to theonion.com, btw.
