Worst record since 1965. 69-93. That is quite literally the worst season in my lifetime, and I am sure, most of you as well. While I suspect this thread will be more b!tching, I would like to see what you guys think we can do to fix the mess.

IMO, a massive cleanup of the front office is needed. If you are collecting a check now, you need to get your last check and clean your desk out. Larry, Bill James, Ben Cherington, Bobby V, all of 'em.

Players: If you aren't named Pedroia, Middlebrooks, or Bucholtz, you are on notice. I might give Cody Ross another shot. Other than that, they can all be out of here when camp opens in February. That includes Mr. Me First, David Ortiz.

It's probably a good thing I am not the owner/gm, because I'd be channeling Mitt Romney, signing checks while saying "I like to fire people".

A neutron bomb, build a new stadium, turn Fenway into the new 'New England Sports Museum'. Hire a young manager with passion to enstill that passion in the players and then develop and build.

I would not hold any players back, everyone is tradeable.. see what you can get...

Get rid of Luchino..

Start to rebuild, imo the slide began when Bard did not want to close and got his own way.. and instead of putting Middlebrooks in RF, they traded Youk because they did not have a position for him...

When that happened it was just a matter of time..

BTW Power Hitter Gonzalez wound up hitting 3 HR's for LAD, 297 average.. 22 RBI's and an OBP of .344.

Beckett was 2W and 3L....

Yup ... how do you spell 'JUICER'.

i think that just about covers it:rocker:

Ok...so they got "their" guy. Now what?

time to go to work on the roster...starting with pitching. We need a couple pof quality starters to go with Lester, Buchholz, Lackey and Doubront. I am ok with guys who aren't big names, just solid guys who can actually pitch. I think that is where Tek will become useful right off the bat.

this is a big off season for cherington. his moves from last year didn't work out very well. i have my doubts about him.

I have no info to confirm this, but I think Cherington is just a puppet for Lucchino et al. I think if Larry told him to put the team in a bus and drive the bus into the Charles River, he would.

First, sign Ross and Ortiz and promise a 2 yr. rebuild.

second, Left handed 1b. Swisher is on the market but I would rather have a short term solution for the next FA market.

Statistically the Red Sox were 8th in the league in runs, but 22nd in OBP.

27th in ERA, 23rd in WHIP.

One starter and push the rest down to RP. Current starts are:

Buchholz
Lester
Doubront
Lackey. (Oh Gawd...)
Morales.

Third, Make a ******* decision with Bard and stick with it. Is he a starter or a kick ass closer?

Forth, Wait. I want to see what happens with Webster and De La Rosa.

Trade Ellsbury in a package for Andrus.

Sign Bourn, Haren and Sanchez via free agency

Explore trading for Justin Upton or signing his brother to play RF. BJ might not be the player attitude wise that best fits this team right now but we will need a RF if Ross walks.

I would trade Ellsbury in a heartbeat. The worse thing that happened is when he had that MVP type year and instantly inflated his worth. He (and Bora$) want to get paid like the MVP year, but he is nowhere near that type player. He is a 3 year/$18M player that probably ask for 5 years/$100M which ain't happening.

I would not explore trading for a SS. Iglesias is my guy even though he cant hit. I am willing to bet we can have enough offense to absorb his bat. We need pitching, OF, and 1b help

Forgot about 1B, Hosmer or Smoak could be interesting possibilities. Iglesias used to be my favorite prospect, but he just can't hit. I think you'll change your mind after his numerous inning enders.

Iglesias is a perfect fit for an NL team, I'd love to deal him..especially if Bogaerts can stick at SS.

Youk at 1st? If we can get him for short money...

I just want pitching... as far as the eye can see.

First you have to be patient. The free agent market is just not that good this year. Got some decent prospects in waiting. Little miffed about giving up Kelly in the Dodgers deal but I understand, they were taking all that salary off their hands. Hopefully that De Larosa kid works out in return. We need some more gritty dirt dogs. Hoping there is another trot Nixon like player or 2 just waiting to play ball.

I'm just going to go to a few games with family, cheer them on and enjoy the environment. My expectations are tempered so it should be a stress free season coming up.

My bad on that one. Was the Padres. Mind isn't what it used to be. Hopefully Sands and De Larosa work out.
