Is this the worst tasting win in your memory??

wow people complain even over over winning.

this is the NFL as you can't guarantee a crushing win every time with no mistakes. deal with it.

This was the best tasting win of the season.

Just to start:

1. It was over the Jets

2. Tome Brady clutch drives to tie then win game

3. Strip sack to win the game

Don't forget Ghostkowski's clutch FG's. Ghostkowski, Brady, AND the defense stepped up in OT.

yes, all we have been hearing is that they aren't clutch from everyone, and when they finally prove they are people still get upset. :nooo:

And yet the only reason the Jets were IN the game was because of 2 43+ and 1 54 yard field goal and a fumble recovery.

That and if they won, it would be the highlight of their year ;)

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you here, Danger.

I think that the Jets outplayed us today in pretty much every aspect of the game, and that we were lucky to escape with a win.

I am not seeing enough of a passrush, enough from the LB's in pass coverage, and nothing at all from the secondary. I also think that our offense has to work through some issues in the next few weeks.

That said, I also think that we should be thankful for the win, and look forward to building on it.

I am however, expecting a very physically challenging game from St Louis next week, although most will already be assuming a victory.

It is in mine.

I have lived through a lot in the past 40 years of rooting for the Pats; but this was just horrible. The end of the game I was just sitting there going - this is NOT a Patriots team I recognize.

Blah blah blah

.

That's what you get for gambling on games. Sounds like you put you life savings on the Patriots covering...

It was a glorious victory.

Personally I think he may have been watching a different channel, but I can respect his point that we shouldn't be "whining" about luckily coming away with a win in any circumstance.

The poster should remember however, that there is a difference from those who are taking it too far, and those who are simply pointing out the same old problems again and again.

All we've been hearing about the NYJ this year is how they have no QB, no WR, no defense (run or pass), and a pathetic ranking in every situation; yet somehow we needed a bunch of lucky breaks to walk away AT HOME with a victory.

There is still time to make some progression obviously, but this team is not playing with the physicality that most of us expected. I am starting to wonder if they really are just a finesse offense with an extremely weak defense like so many say.
Yeah it's kind of why I hate politics. People seem to be extreme in one direction and anyone who opposes their direction they automatically assume is equally extreme in the opposite direction.

So if you're not sunshine and bunny rabbits about a Pats win you are a horrible fan who can't enjoy anything but a 52-3 win and was spoiled by 16-0 and should just stop cheering for the team.

There seems to be no room for moderate and rational view points that can look beyond a W and see the same warts appearing over and over and question the team for not improving in certain areas.

I was same way after Balto loss. Even though they lost to me it was no big deal it was a tough game and they for the most part looked good. Even in AZ they lost Hernandez so it was understandable. But this was the same script as Seattle and the Giants SBs and they were fortunate to eek it out.

What game were you watching? Pats O had chance to put game away late again and went three and out. Only when jets went soft prevent at end could they move the ball.

Loved Ninko strip sack to end it. But let's not pretend the D made huge stops in regulation. Sanchez didn't see a wide open guy and hill had a brutal drop forcing them to kick fg for tie otherwise they were marching in to score. and after fumble jets when conservative playing for fg instead of gong after pats secondary.

I'd rather win a close game than lose one but let's be realistic. The same problems are there. Hopefully the can win the division and anything is possible but they will need to make tons of improvements.

I was watching the game the Patriots won over a bitter division rival to take sole lead of the AFCE with clutch kicking, a couple of clutch holds by the defense and the offense getting a couple of crunch time scores. You maybe were watching the Ron Borges show?
Get over yourself. The Patriots did not play perfect (by any means). Bummer! But if you want to throw your crayons against the wall and stomp your foot because it wasn't as pretty a win as you feel you deserve? Have at it!

There's a difference from people nit-picking about things and telling them like it is. I am a lot closer to being a homer than I am a chicken little.

The Patriots are damn lucky to have walked away win a win today, after blowing yet another double digit lead in a 4 minute span in the crunchtime period of the last 1/2 quarter.

I am REALLY worried about St. Louis. Offensively, I think they're pretty well on par with the Jets, but it looks like they have a stout defense (I don't watch them play; just what I read from the stats). That, along with the problems we've had all season, plus having to travel overseas for the game and adjust to the time change, and who knows what will happen?

I don't want to act like I am disagreeing with the fact that you have some good points, because I am not.

At the same time, I don't see too many who necessarily want to throw their crayons against the wall either.

This will likely be a controversial topic in the next coming week, so we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

One thing is clear though--the team won, and we should be happy and grateful. Most of us expected them to be progressively fixing their problems though, and that does not seem to be happening.

The worst tasting win still tastes way better than a well-played defeat.

Your handle says it all. You (like many on this site) must start living in the present.
You can start by sending a thank you card to Jet receiver Stephen Hill.
Btw what's this "we" reference fanboy??

ok, JACKAZZ

I used the word "we" exactly TWICE by my FIND feature and the word "THEY" exactly 10 times.

I also clearly stated I have had a few.

As someone else stated (thanks btw); I am honored to be a Pats FANBOY. (maybe should add that to my Sig :D)

Anyway; for you and all the critics of the thread - this was not about being some PINK HAT wanting to see 500 yds of offense. The thread was about the 'rules of expectation theory' applied to football as it were.

I had my level of expectations raised by last year's insane performance and the fantastic off-season moves; and that incredibly high level of expectation has been DASHED TO SMITHEREENS by the PUTRID CRAP that is happening on the field that I HAVE NEVER SEEN from a BB TEAM being so horribly bad on D - so many penalites and so much free yardage just isnt normal or even AVERAGE NFL TEAM D - it is 31 ranked D - just like last year.

For all the talk about the great stops and great last 2 drives (hello 6 pts in 2 drives - that is GREAT??, in my book GOOD!, but not great). And if sexy rexy had not played prevent 3man rush; are you HONESTLY CERTAIN\ WE WOULD HAVE GOT THAT FG TO TIE????

If Pats were playing against anybody but the SANCHIZE, one of his 3 opportunities ends up w/ 7 pts instead of 2 Figgees and a fumble. And then where are THEY?? (just for you Rhody).

A win is a win.

At this point, theres nothing wrong with holding on until things start clicking better.....that said, yet another week where this team appears that it is not putting itself in the best position to win games. Whether it is lack or preparation or lack of talent does not matter.

It's like they're the cowboys

The STL defense is for real, you can believe that. They are an aggressive and physical team who will likely do a great job instantly stuffing the run and attempting to pressure the QB.

I felt better about the game last week than I do today, especially due to the fact that this secondary will easily make ANY opposing WR look good.

We'll hear all week about how they don't have anyone etc, etc--and at the end of the day I certainly expect a win, but I would not take them lightly under the current circumstances.

I can't disagree with that, as happy as I am about this win. You can say that Wilfork forced the safety mishap, but you can't really say we did anything to forced Hill's drop towards the end of regulation or Sanchez's awful pass on Dennard's pick which should've been a TD. We got very very lucky on some BIG plays. Like I said though I'll take it just as soon as I'd take a 58-0 beatdown.

Good grief! The Jets "definitely outplayed us"? What game were people watching? Both teams have had better games but the Patriots were not clearly outplayed - that's nutty to even think. For instance - how many times was Brady strip sacked with the game on the line? Ah, yeah, now you've got the picture.

I don't know about worst tasting win but I do think that us fans had no idea of the identity of this team BEFORE 4 pm and still don't AFTER 8pm

Nothing has changed but the record,it's a long season and sooner or later we will find out if this team really sucks or is pretty good.

I used the word "we" exactly TWICE by my FIND feature and the word "THEY" exactly 10 times.

You go ahead and use the term "we" and "they" all you want as far as I'm concerned.

When you are posting on an internet fan site in the wee hours of the night in the middle in March and April about the various schemes the team will use, you have earned that right in my opinion.

"We" are a little bit more hardcore than the average fan who decides to casually follow due to baseball season being over.

And besides, anyone who brings that up is just trying to nitpick anyway...I would assume that the majority of fans probably use those terms. I know I do all the time.

See my previous post. I'm a pretty even keeled individual and fan. Wasn't pissed at Card or Ravens losses. They were understandable. But why can I not critique a loss? Just because the team won? That's all that matters as regards the rest of the teams season?

How do you think the coaches feel about this win? How do you think those Monday meetings are going to go? How do you think the defensive film breakdown meetings will be? How happy do you think Brady is about this one?

It's great to get a division win and 4-3 is a hell of a lot better than 3-4 but as of right now you put this team on a neutral field with the Giants or Texans and they are losing 7 out of 10 times. Maybe you're content to have them make the playoffs and watch them blow another two score lead in the fourth but I'm not. I'd like to see some improvements on D and the offense close a good team out before getting my hopes up for the 2012 Patriots.
