Could Brandon Spikes be suspended for his current tweet?

In what scenario could Spikes, or anyone else have "found" a homosexual in his bathtub?

The Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras? That may prove difficult to attend if the Patriots plan on playing in February.

Is this really a story?

Unfortunately yes. Have a think about it for a minute. If you replace homosexuality with African Americans and replace Spikes with Rob Gronkowski (who is equally adept at making ill advised public comment) do you think people would still accept that it's just a joke or would there be public outcry? That's often the problem with text. There's no tone or context and it's easy for people to misrepresent an innocent (in this case silly) comment.

Personally, it's a bad joke and I'm not offended because I'm not part of that particular demographic. I'm interested in the youthful stupidity of Brandon Spikes' continued use of Twitter.

Can't wait til he tweets about the redneck problem in Austrailla. Is that your demographic?

I'll have my shotgun, some tinnies and a dingo ready for the occasion.

If I work for Coke - I have every right to drink Pepsi and would do so if that is what I wanted to drink.

And likewise, Coke would have every right to fire you if they found out. (Unless you had a contract with them that said otherwise).

I found David Spade in mine. Said he was just testing the water. I fed him to my spider.

This is a great example of why political correctness is such an evil. In this case, people are talking about this being a firing offense at work because there are people who might be too stupid to get the joke.

1.) The joke is not anti-homosexual. It's actually the opposite.

2.) The idea that someone should be fired, or punished in any way, even if the joke were anti-homosexual should be abhorrent to everyone.

And on that note, rather than going further into the political side of this, I'm putting this thread on ignore.

This debate is a joke, people creating drama where there shouldn't be drama, reading things into it that aren't there. People saying he's calling out gays? Where was that? I didn't see it, Oh my God, we are all doomed, even if he is homophobic, how does that call out homosexuals? And how in the world does that stirr up all this chit? Stop creating scenerios that have nothing to do with what he actually tweeted. If you want to look hard into something, try looking for a sense of humor and stop judging the guy.

The single greatest thing about Patsfans is your insistence on telling everyone what they should think.

Thought they took away your guns? Nothing like racking a shotgun after slamming a couple Tim Tams.

Shotguns fall into the category A classification. The '96 gun law reforms after the Port Arthur Massacre were more directed toward the control of semi-automatic and automatic firearms. You're generally OK with lower caliber firearms or pump actions as long as you 1) have a valid reason for owning the firearm, and 2) obtain the necessary permits.

As for the redneck problem, it's becoming more of a Guido problem. It pains me to see Australia's kids thinking it's cool to imitate the idiots from Jersey Shore.

Perhaps we should get Spikes to tweet about that. ;)

Spikes was guilty or retweeting an insensitive joke; he didn't club a baby seal with a dead puppy. There was no malice and while it wasn't very bright given the Pats professional standards it is much ado about nothing. I like Steve Buckley but the borderline blubbering on EEI about how offended he was...give me a break and put on your big boy pants.

Not really. What you say on your twitter feed is available for the public to see. As a representative of your employer, and given that employment is pretty much always at-will unless otherwise stated, then it's at the employer's discretion whether or not they choose to fire someone who represents them poorly.

This, in a nutshell, is why I don't use Twitter and stick to pretty noncontroversial opinions on Facebook. I am way, way too politically incorrect to have my stream of consciousness thoughts available for public consumption. Leave that stuff for your close friends and acquaintances at the bar.

Part of being a professional is conducting yourself responsibly in public.

The Jets are the most offensive joke in football history, everything else pales in comparison.
