Week 6 at Seattle Seahawks.... piece of cake, right?

Of course. I also realize that offensive PI is rarely, if ever called in hail mary situations. I also know that these replacement refs were trained NOT to call offensive PI in such situations.

You can read between the lines any which way you please. If it was such a clear cut play, there would be zero ambiguity and zero argument regardless of whether you are a Packer fan, a Seahawk fan, or don't care either way. But fact is, it is debatable. Fact is, the replacement side judge who signaled TD stands by his call. Fact is, the NFL could have easily said it was a bad call and move on (they have before with other bad calls).

It is in no way debatable. It was a horrendous call, point blank. Nobody outside of diehard Seahawks fans would ever argue that call was correctly made. The fact that the NFL reached an agreement with the real refs the following day tells you all you need to know about the travesty that call was.

By your own definition, the people on this board are completely without bias in that game because we had no vested interest.

So let me know in which thread you lost your purported 'unbiased' words.

I hate to go OT, but back to the game coming up this Sunday...

AHern was in practice today. If we can get our Swiss-Army TE back in the game I think our offense will be able to move the chains (even with lots of crowd noise).

Tracy White was not in practice. Not having him as a starting LB should help with containing Lynch.

This non-Seahawk fan disagrees with you:

I never said anyone here was biased with regard to that call. Misguided, yes. Ignorant, yes. Biased, no.

LOL @ thinking that was a touchdown

What you talking 'bout, boyo?

So let me get this right. It is your position that the majority of NFL viewers, including the NFL itself (who clearly stated that PI should have been called), are misguided and ignorant.

Is that in fact your position?

First of all I would like to mention that I have found a lot of respect for your fanbase over the last week. You guys as a whole are knowledgeable and respectful. I find that interesting because of all of your recent success. See we have dealings with a team in our division who is totally overboard on championships that they won in the 80s.The arrogance is overwhelming. :bricks:

This game has me really worried. First of all, your tight ends are frightening. Although we have stifled some of them this year, tight ends have eaten this D alive recently as last year. Although Witten didnt "go off" on us he really should have had 125+ yards on us. He has had the spleen problem and his first catch against us he got destroyed by Earl Thomas. After that he not rite in that game. He dropped many open passes looking over his shoulder.
Lets just say I don't plan on Benching Gronk this week in my FF league.
We have however upgraded our speed and athleticism from the LBs, so I am hopeful, but not confident.

You may be able to take advantage of our CBs as well. They (especially Brandon Browner) are susceptible to double moves. However they are extremely good at press coverage, and I think if you go to a fast slant game we can really throw off the timing of the small ball. Expect physicality on the edges. There may be an advantage for you if you get Trufant (our nickle/ slot cover DB) one on one with Wes. I honestly think however that your TEs will be the problem not the WRs. Our D had been extreemly efficiant on first and second down, however have been really bad at stopping teams in third and long. That connot contiune against your team if we want to win.

Our dline looks extremely good in pass rush and run D. I am worried about your no huddle offence. No huddle has been an issue thus far this season, when used at end of half or forth quarter. Teams have gobbled up a lot of yardage on us threw the air. I think the noise in the clinic will affect your team and our passrush. Our team will have to telegraph the snap count or have a code for the snap (some teams have done this with a head bob from the center and other things like that) and that should help the D get a lot of jump. Tom is smart enough to change it up in game but that will slow you down some.

Our penalties need to stop. We are not disciplined. This has been an achilles heel of ours so far. I feel that we have beaten ourselves more then we have been beaten.

In the end I think our D holds you guys to no more then 24. It will be hard for our O to give us that many so we shall see. This game should be closer than a lot of people think.

GL with the rest of this season after Sunday. Hope both teams leave without any more injuries.

I'm not talking about the PI. I'm talking about the fact that a call was made on the field (TD) -- a judgement call that admittedly could have gone either way, and also the fact that there wasn't enough evidence to overturn such call.

It's interesting how much things have changed in your division. Arguably the best in the NFL right now. Four years ago, not so much.

We'll see if AHern is able to go at game time. Even if he can play, I am not sure he will be able to perform at 100% yet. Having both at full strength certainly wouldn't hurt.

I am not sure that Tom will have enough time for many plays deep or outside the numbers. Hopefully they can establish the run like they have the past couple of weeks, which should open things up a little. We don't have the largest receiving corps, so that will be an interesting matchup to watch.

That's the real chess match. Our "blitzkrieg" hurry-up in an environment where no one can hear Tom scream.

Our penalties need to stop. We are not disciplined. This has been an achilles heel of ours so far. I feel that we have better ourselves more then we have been beaten.

The uber hurry-up could have an impact with that, although based on what I have seen your stadium leads to more penalties for the opposing offense than anything else.

I expect a back-and-forth battle that comes down to the last drive.

Ditto.

Just FYI:

The line in this game opened at -4.5, and is now down to -3.5. However, 84% of the public is on the Pats. Makes you wonder.

Homerism aside, if I were to lay cash on this game, I would put it on the Pats -3.5, easily.

I'd take the under (currently total is at 44.5), at which point it would probably turn into a shootout.

So then the majority of football fans who thought that was not a TD, including many in the mainstream media and one of the two referees on the actual field of play, those are the misguided, ignorant ones?

And you couldn't possibly be biased on this subject either, being the paragon of objectivity that you are, amirite? ;)

I actually think we'll use a lot of disguised zone coverages in an effort to slow down your quick passing attack. Browner or Sherman could be lined up on your split ends, then perhaps shift coverage to the middle of the field to pick up Welker coming inside or one of your TEs. It's going to be a tough challenge, that's for sure.

Exactamundo. :D

BTW. That Packers call was a lot closer then many think. All I really want to say is that whoever had to make that call was in a very hard spot. Jennings had two hands on the ball and never took them off. Tate had one hand that never left the ball, and a second that grabed it later. I don't know man. This is a no win. I wish it didn't end like that, but then again there was a lot a really messed up calls in that game. Many that really helped GB, like pass interferiance that led to the leading touchdown.
Horrid calling all around. I remember at least 15 missed holding penalties in the second half. I think that was a huge change in the game.

TBH, under Pete Carroll that probably won't happen. It's just kinda one of those things that you live with as long as he's coach, and we Pats fans can attest to that.

Honestly, I think that the Seahawks have a better D than anyone that we've faced so far, so I am worried about this game. I could see it being eerily similar to the Cardinals game, if things go badly. ie - I don't expect the Seahawks to have many long, sustained drives against us, but I could see your D creating turnovers and capitalizing. The Patriots really need to hold on to the ball, and so far this season that's uncharacteristically been a problem for them.

Best case scenario, the Pats score 3 touchdowns in the first half and put Seattle in a hole that it can't climb out of. More likely scenario is that it's close throughout.

If it makes you feel any better, the regular refs appear to be incapable of calling holding, as well. I've genuinely lost count of the number of times that it's gone uncalled when Chandler Jones was the victim - I assume you guys have had the same experience with Irvin. Rookies can't get any respect, I guess?
