this has already been posted in the "ref" thread.

Ninkovich was manhandled the whole game. He and Chung were invisible, except for Chung's 4th down stop. Really worried about Ninko--the new Guyton of the defense. (Anyone know what Andre Carter is doing these days?)
It's time to start Jermaine Cunningham at left defensive end and have Rob Ninkovich take a seat on the bench.

The good: I thought the offense played well overall and is going to be fine. Lloyd looked great, Edelman and Ridley have emerged as a legitimate weapons. Glad to see Welker back doing what he does. Pats will be fine; just a frustrating loss on many levels.
The New England Patriots offense looks a whole lot different with Connolly starting at right guard and Vollmer starting at right tackle.

Nah,Mark Anderson would be better, after all,he had a good season for us last year.

..... Oh,Wait

I could see a case for inserting Cunningham at LDE, moving Ninkovich back to Strong Side OLB, and giving Hightower some time to get used to the pros by playing in certain packages.

Hightower had FIVE solo tackles tonight...Big Vince had four, so did Spikes...where was Hightower???..

Not going to happen.

1. Scott was the first guy on the field at DE when Ninkovich and Jones were taken off the field, not Cunningham.

2. Ninkovich has never played off the line of scrimmage with the Pats. In his time as a 3-4 OLB, 4-3 DE, and yes, even 4-3 OLB, it has always been on the line. You can't just expect a guy to transition like that.

3. Hightower was elite week 1 and still good week 2. You can't bench a guy that that after one bad game.

Something no one has mentioned is the clock was stopped on the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty (Harbaugh claimed he wanted to call a Timeout but never did) that penalty was on a run by Ridley yet the clocked stopped and the Ravens didn't use their 1st TO until after the next play another Ridley run. The clock should have kept running it was 2:18 left with a 1st down on Balt 45 yet they were given a phantom TO.

So i didnt watch the game, but i understood the refs had something to do with the L so even if its the refs fault, we cant use it as an excuse, we let that happen. i hope the team steps up and make the right adjustments. go pats.

Can't really rate the defense after that game, the Ravens kept getting bailed out with phantom calls whenever they were in a hole.

Disgusting performance and unless the real refs are back, I'm not watching the Bills game.

Will this game embolden the team for the rest of the season? I believe that it will, and in the end, all will turn out well.

First, lets be real. When the schedule came out, this game was, more than likely, looked at as one that the team had a very good chance at losing. I am sure that most Pats fans, and many of the so called experts, figured this as a loss. Just one loss in a sixteen game schedule that would feature very few losses. Of course, no one figured on losing to the Cardinals, especially at home.

Anyway, for the most part, the loss was expected.

Unfortunately, no one figured that the loss would happen as it did.

This was one of those rare occurances when the outcome was decided by the on field officials and it went against the Pats and in favor of the home team. The officials, IMO, were intimidated by the home crowd as the game was winding down.

I believe that this will embolden the team, make them stronger, and that it will have a very positive effect for the remainder of the season.

Let us not forget that they scored 30 points against a team that most suggest have one of the best defenses in the NFL.

Following the game plan, and the intensity of the offense it should bode well for upcoming games. I really would not want to be a Buffalo Bill fan next Sunday.

OK, so we lost a game that most figured we were going to lose once the schedule came out.

I am not saying that it doesnt hurt, it hurts bad, but, now, we will be a better team because of it.

Just for once, I'd like to see the offense take the heat off the defense in one of these games -- 4 minutes left, we needed a few first downs to go into victory formation. We got distracted with the penalty calls, but ultimately, the offensive line just crapped the bed and couldn't do it. It's not fair to blame the offense, but this is the team we have, and they need to make it happen.

At this point, if we are winning by less than a touchdown, screw it. Don't punt. I don't care if it's 4th and 20. What good does a net 20 yard punt do? The Ravens made that up in 1 play, just like the Giants did in the super bowl. The yards don't matter. Just go for it. Even if you don't make it, maybe the other team will score faster and at least the offense will have a chance. If there's like 20 seconds left and the clock is factor, fine, but if the other team has enough time to score against this defense, they will.

Three of the last four games have been pretty excruciating.

This is it in a nutshell

AFCCG last year, we have the ball on O, O line crumbles like a pack of cards, Brady gets jittery, iffy throws high and low, Ravens march down the field in 90 seconds, should have won but for Evans/Cundifff

SB, as above + Welker drop

Last night, as above again

The O and D just arent clutch any more, we cant close tight games out when it really matters

Re: Our pass defense flat-out sucks (again)... can we just admit it please?

McCourty wasn't bad tonight, yeah he made a bad play at the end of the game, but for the most part he was fine. Smith should have been called for a PI on his second td on McCourty. The defense didn't play well as a unit, I wish there were a couple of more blitzes called during this game, when it became evident that the front four were not going to get pressure.

I thought McCourty was fine honestly... the guy defended alot of passes well tonight, if the guy could catch the ball like he did as a rookie he'd have 3 int's so far this year or more.

Defensively i feel Ninkovich should have offered a little bit more, he was one on one against the Ravens RT most of the game and gave up the edge a few times, let flaco roll out to gain more time and did not really ever win the One on One and time that i can recall.

Generally when we got pressure it was from our DT's and flaco did well to avoid the slower big boys.

Chandler Jones i thought made some good plays i just think they were negated by the penalty and some great cuts by Rice.

BS.

Pats Defense was good enough in the AFCCG to stop Ravens from scoring a TD, and force them into a long FG which was missed.

Pats offence closed out a few games with BJGE in the 4th last year.

You can't blame the Pats D for this loss either. The numerous phantom holding calls against the Defense were a joke.

Fair enough criticism. We should acknowledge that the O got us there generally in the first place. But i think we can acknowledge the fact that in alot of clutch games recently we have not brought it when the going got tough on O.

Not blaming D or O for this loss i think it was a combination of our D not taking the INT's layed out for us to ice the game. The O also not being able to execute at the end of the game.

This is aside from the refs just being well... terrible

Evans should have caught that TD, Moore did well but that should have been a score. Last night the O couldn't run down the clock when it mattered and the D couldn't stop the Ravens when it mattered. Refs or not McCourty cannot put his hands on the receiver down-field, ESPECIALLY as they've been calling BS all night long and he has to know that

It's been the same for a while now and people are deluding themselves to think that it hasn't been. When it absolutely mattered last night the Ravens stepped up and we wet the bed. Refs or no refs

Get Andre Carter there.

I think we missed Deaderick last night, he's a solid 43 DE against run team and has provided a bit of a rush in the past

Yep. Putting up 30 points, 33 first downs (and 7-15 on 3rd downs, 46.7%), 396 yards, and 31:03 TOP against this Ravens defense means you have a really good offense.

I'm not worried about the offense moving forward.

I still would like to see them bury teams at the end, though. That's getting pretty frustrating.

Re: Our pass defense flat-out sucks (again)... can we just admit it please?

He had three noticeable bad plays in my eyes:

- The second dropped INT
- the missed tackle which was more Gregory's fault
- the PI in the end

The rest of the night he was solid. You can argue that when he was bad, he was really bad. But he was mostly solid. The first dropped INT was a great play by McCourty that was broken up by the receiver.

Arrington was far worse with getting burnt multiple times and falling down on what would have been a game winning INT. Yet, people aren't trashing him.

What does it matter if he was 'solid the rest of the night"? Failing badly on three game critical plays defines an awful night. It is absurd to suggest that because he got a few breaks, it overrides his game losing plays. His blunders led to 14, maybe 21 points (beat for td in endzone) for the Ravens
