Re: SuperBowl 47: JAGS Vs RAMS

Something no one has mentioned is the clock was stopped on the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty (Harbaugh claimed he wanted to call a Timeout but never did) that penalty was on a run by Ridley yet the clocked stopped and the Ravens didn't use their 1st TO until after the next play another Ridley run. The clock should have kept running it was 2:18 left with a 1st down on Balt 45 yet they were given a phantom TO.

However, I blame the NFL for this mess. You put high school refs and such and this is what happens. The NFL is at fault here not the refs who are trying.
I blame one man for the replacement referee catastrophe and that's Roger Goodell. Roger Goodell should not only be impeached but also disgraced for not upholding the integrity of the game.

Yeah I seen it as soon as it happened they literally stopped the clock for no reason like in the Ten/Det game they gave the Titans 27 yards on a personal foul because the marked off from Detriot 44 even though they were on Ten's 44

Re: SuperBowl 47: JAGS Vs RAMS

if you were to pull random fans coming in thru the gate to referee a game, what I saw tonight is *exactly* what i'd expect it to look like.

I pretty much knew early in the 3rd quarter it didnt matter who actually wins, the other team can make a very valid claim it got hosed.. then it got worse.

Hell, even the average fan wouldve called Oher for atleast ONE hold.

NFL...Your league is now officially a joke...Good night a-holes...Sleep tight....

Total penalties in the game

24 penalties for 218 yards

83 yards for NE
135 yards for Baltimore

That is more than 2 football fields end to end in yards

Ridiculous

Either the refs are really that bad or it was a screw job.

Mike Carlson for channel 4 over here at one point said "there's a lot of flags being thrown...usually when the Patriots defense makes a play".

It's amazing how many times they got bailed out with flat out bogus defensive holding calls and since when were you allowed to block players by hooking them around the neck?

I, for one, normally do not put much blame on officials for costing a game. This game is an exception.

Unfortunately, we will have to endure fans from all of the other teams, this week, calling us crybabies, etc. And to them, I have just two words, "screw you."

Am I allowed to say that here?

One last thing before I hit the sack.

I may be wrong, but it seemed to me that the penalties that were called tonight seemed to hurt the Pats more in that a lot of them seemed to negate a good offensive pickup or a good defensive play while Ravens penalties didnt.

Just seemed that way, to me.

i don't feel like we lost that game at all.

Our offence played well. Our defense played well.

The refs didn't ref well.

Re: SuperBowl 47: JAGS Vs RAMS

In New England, GB and Pittsburgh, yes. In about 15 other cities, plenty of great seats still available.

You obviously don't realize it, but you're supporting what I said. You're absolutely right that nobody is not going to watch. And that's why Goodell can do whatever he darn well wants with this referee situation. If ratings and ticket sales took a real hit, then he'd have to act. But since all of us are watching just as much as ever, we have only ourselves to blame.

No matter how bad the product gets, we just can't help ourselves but to watch.
Oh so you think it'll never be solved and these refs are here for good because nobody will stop buying tickets? Because we just can't help ourselves? Its not going to end at any point because your "solution" won't happen (we can't help ourselves!!!!)?????

No, of course not. It'll be settled. And it'll have nothing to do with "stop buying shirts!!!!" Will you be here to say oh nevermind, it got settled without that? I thought it was the only way but I was wrong. Nope.

So how about this week rather than October 12th or whatever?

Ridiculous, juvenile ideas.

Goodell was selected by and serves at the whim of the owners. There are 32 people you really should be blaming.

Your quote above in fact proves Goodell is doing his job quite well. Look at who you're blaming rather than the people really in charge...

Dear Commissioner Goodell.

Your Job is to Protect the Integrity of the Game.

....that is all.

I had no idea defensive holding could be called so much. Especially when it didn't happen. Every time our D made a play at the end, I just sat stone still and waited for the flag.....and it usually came. That has never happened to me, ever,in my history of watching this game.

I strongly considered going to bed because Iknew how it would end and why with something like four minutes remaining. How is this enjoyable for me as a fan? To stay up late to watch that crock? And then it took me forever to fall asleep because of the rage.

If the real refs don't return, I'm honestly not sure I can continue to devote a Sunday to this. It's not even fun anymore!

This is just one more in a long string of MAJOR bad judgement calls by the commissioner. Goodell needs to be replaced.

Back to the game - the Pats got screwed but so did the Ravens. Pats had 83 penalty yards, Ravens had 135. The Pats also got some calls in the 4th quarter to keep drives going that would have died otherwise. It was just terrible all around. If the Ravens lost they'd have a half dozen cases too of where they would probably argue they were hosed.

At this point I'm not particularly fussed about the players getting screwed. I am concerned about the money people are pouring into Pay TV subscriptions to watch a product being negatively affected by the incompetence of those running the NFL and those currently officiating.
