Crying over spilled milk: should've drafted DeMarco Murray over Ridley or Vereen

Maybe Shane Vereen should follow Ridley's lead and read PatsFans message boards as well...

I know I have written this before, and I know there is nothing the Pats can do about this now, and this is just bringing up the past.

But.....

How can the Pats scouting department and BB, look at Steven Ridley and Shane Vareen, and think either one was a better prospect than Demarco Murray. This screw up cannot be overlooked. can you imagine the dimension he would have brought to the Pats offense.

When you watch him run, and you watch Ridley run, I can't help but ask the Pats, what were you thinking!!!!, and saying that over and over again. There is no excuse for such a lapse in scouting judgement. I mean this was a no brainer, one guy is clearly superior to the other two guys in every facet of the game. he must of scored low on a Wonderlic test or something.

Can some reporter ask the Pats what they saw in the 2 backs they have chosen over Murray? ,and also outside of BB if the person or people who help make the call, were fired, or at least reprimanded by the team.

Oops.

Couldn't answer that question after one game, maybe not even after another season.

One thing for sure, is that the Pats won't need Ridley as much as the Cowboys will need Murray this year, so stats won't tell the story.

I know it's one game, but you have to admit, when you start a thread like this and then a performance like that happens, you look like a bit of a tool, if only for the week.

Considering both backs have been in the league only one year, the numeric comparison wasn't markedly unequal and the knock on Murray was on display after one season (durability), I think the OP already looked tool-ish. Ridley's performance today simply made the OP look tool-ish to a higher degree :).

Props to the poster who wrote "ooops"

Would Murray be the same in this system? But if you would tell the future like how a player would turn out, a certain QB would not have gone #199 and be the 7th QB taken!

The Riddler was phenomenal today.

Well this thread looks even more stupid than it alreadY did. Eat crow.

A little late but it's good to see the OP getting lit up.

A modicum of self policing by making fun of doofus posting always makes for a better board.

On a somewhat related note, Mark Ingram had 6 carries for 15 yards today. Another RB the Pats could have drafted last year, but we passed while someone else traded up for him. So if you're disappointed in our scouts, just imagine how the Saints feel.

well its good to see my reverse jinx post worked. :)

Listen, I am thrilled Ridley ran great yesterday, and I want nothing more than to eat crow, and for him to prove me wrong.

I am more than willing to keep a positive attitude ,and hope for the best for the Pats running game. I think one of the reason for the Pats playoff misfortunes recently has been the lack of running game in the playoffs.

I hope I am wrong, and I will be backing Ridley and the rest of the Pats running backs, like I always do. Because even if Ridley is good, I am fine with everything, he doesn't have to be as good as Murray, just be a productive runner, that is some what approachable to Murray.
