I'm not going to do a poll, since it'd be too complex.

Pats Run O: A
Pats Pass O: B+

Pats Run D: A++ and a massive GFY to the entire Titans offense
Pats Pass D: B+

Pats ST: B

Overall Grade: A

Room for improvement, sure, but a definite solid win.

It seems like the Pats D was asleep to start the second half but they woke up after that first drive. I'm trying not to get too excited about them but for the most part they looked much improved. Loved the play from the rookies in the front 7.

They were not asleep. They were setup to stop CJ. The Titans decided to throw and throw and we could not get the subs in for that situation. Plus Ninkovick was doing his TBC impression, he got one on one all day and did nothing. They need to fix that. Cunningham for him and we can generate pressure from both sides.

Gotta disagree with your analysis here. Ninkovich was getting pressure and cutting off Locker from breaking out to his side... Which is what the Pats wanted to do.. Keep Locker in the Pocket. And Ninkovich was getting rubbed and chipped pretty regularly by the TE on that side.

What does 'GFY' stand for?

What does 'GFY' stand for?

Really, a Jets fan who doesn't know that? It means go **** yourself. Refs were letting the O-line pile jump 5 seconds after the whistle all game.

Can take one dirtbag out of Tenn but the stench remains.

I'll play:

Pass offense: B. There were flashes. Lloyd made some nice catches, especially that out pattern getting both feet down. The tight ends looked great. Still, Brady was pressured often, and threw too many passes at people's feet. Also, the play-action to Lloyd should have been easily caught for a TD. Just shows the timing isn't quite there yet. Still, overall, I'm pretty happy with things from this end.

Run offense: A+. The line was opening up holes all day, and Ridley kept running through them, often getting deep into the secondary. When the Titans still had a chance, the Pats did some nice ground and pound in the 4th quarter to eat clock and put a dagger in.

Pass defense: B-. Only giving up 13 points is great, but once again, they made a rookie quarterback and his backup look like stars at times. There were some ridiculous 3rd downs being converted in the first and third. The secondary again can't cover, and with the exception of the defensive touchdown (which bumps their grade up for me), there wasn't much pressure on the QB's all day.

Run defense: A+. I don't think I have to say much here. The stats speak for themselves.

ST: B. Nothing great, nothing terrible.

Overall B+. The Pats looked great in the first half but were unable to put it away in the third quarter. There will be alot of calling out by BB this week in the film room, especially for the defensive backfield.

I think that this is close to the mark. I'd give the pass offense a B+, but that is nitpicking.

The pass defense was certainly good enough for today, but after one game they are essentially untested.

It was because the Titans came out more aggressive and it took the Pats a drive to adjust to what the Titan's adjustments were.

If you honestly think they were periodically "stars"...you really should step away from football.

Horrendous QB's complete 50% of their passes.

It's amazing what some think they should expect during a course of a game.

Brady's pass to Lloyd early, MAN, gave me flashbacks of Welker in SB. Brady puts that on'da money it's an easy 6. I kind of thought that it was more of rust than anything bein there was little playing time in preseason. It's great to see Brady's options out there and when Brady & Lloyd get it down it'll be special to watch.

Tennessee was only 5 for 14 on 3rd down. 35 percent. I'm ok with them allowing a few ridiculous 3rd down if this team can hold teams to 35 percent on 3rd down.

Top 10 last year in 3rd down defense was between 31 and 35 percent.

No the passing o was a B to a B-

My misgrade here is the ST's. No missed Figgies, only a couple of tb's on punts and an average starting position for the Titans at the @ 18.That's a B+ work.

Id give the ST's an A if they had just one big return.

What does 'GFY' stand for?

It's a greeting and term of endearment in NY/NJ.

When accompanied by a sharp knee to the groin, it's a revered a New York custom.

Its a silent respect and love message to Tom Jackson. All of Patriots nation feels this deep seeded respect for the guy.

That pass was perfect. Lloyd slowed down and backpedaled for no reason. He keeps running and it hits him right in stride for an easy TD.

I think you gave the pats pass defense a bit of a too high mark at b plus.

They seemed to get stung a lot in the middle of the field....

Perhaps you missed the average passing performance conceded by the Patriots' Defense in 2011? Titans or not that was a marked improvement over much of 2011.
