Do you think Andre Carter and/or Brian Waters will return?

Personally I hae no idea about Waters and think Carter could be part of the 'shadow' roster, I hope Carter heals and returns because he would be an upgrade over Scott or Bequette.

If Waters wasn't coming back, he and the team would just have said so, as opposed to the cryptic stuff. So he's back.

Carter apparently had to relearn how to walk right after his injury, so that seems highly unlikely.

If either, I would say Waters. Guy seems like he just needs the break. Think he'll return with a week or so to go to keep his body fresh for the start of the season.

Waters yes, Carter no

Shalize Manza Young brought up a good point about Waters on the radio yesterday. If Waters was holding out for a new contract as some suspect, wouldn't the Pats be fining him for holding out? He currently has an excused absence from camp.

I am guessing that he will be back sometime in the next week or so.

I think the fact that Chandler Jones appears to be much better than advertised has really hurt Carter's chances of coming back to the Patriots.

I think they had an agreement but even if they didn't they knew this was his MO in KC and if they want him back on whatever terms there is no way they play the fine his ass card, even if he is simultaneously looking for a bump in pay based on his performance last season. It's his last season in all liklihood and they want him motivated and not pissy and going through the motions to collect a check he's perhaps not thrilled with to begin with. And they may not be adverse to tweeking his deal once they see him on the field.

I wouldn't expect to see Carter back unless it's in season and he really wants a piece of this as opposed to a shot at one more multi year deal with the highest bidder. I think in his case the issue is two fold, his rehab moving slowly and his pre existing desire to get a multi year deal on the heels of his 2011 season.

I hope Carter gets his deal and makes some more decent money. Unfortunately, I don't think he'll get it here barring some camp disaster. I hope he's recovered and can demonstrate it to interested parties.

I'd rather keep Bequette on the roster and develop him...

Youth over age at this point. If there's an injury on the DL where someone goes IR, bring Carter back if's he's good to go and not signed elsewhere.

:rocker:

Agree that we're likely to see Waters in the next week or so. I'd love to see Carter back in a Pats uni. Teaming with Jones would give the team a one-two punch as a tag team on pressuring the QB along with some insurance when the rookie needs some rest. Just not sure how that would affect the roster at this point.

It's interesting that he's not caught on with another team if the Pats are hesitating. Could there be an agreement similar to what we believe they have with Waters? He is a class act.

From day one I have presumed that Waters will be starting in week one at Tennessee, and I still feel that way.

As for Carter I originally figured that he would be signed once he was healthy enough to play, but I'm waffling on that viewpoint now. Perhaps he will be signed if or when another player at his position is lost due to an injury.

Carter relied on his explosiveness before ripping his quad in half at age 33. I'd think the odds of him being the same guy ever again are low, and I think the fact that he hasn't been signed (or even worked out?) by anyone makes the likelihood that he's this pass rushing beast just waiting for a call from BB similarly small.

Looks like we all have the same feeling with Waters.

Carter has me a little baffled though as reports are all over the place. From he had to learn to re-walk to he is looking for a long term deal which would seem contradictory. Then in june or sometime around mini camp there were reports he was hanging around here which at the time made me think he might be ready for camp but things have been so quite with him since camp started that I now think he is further away from being ready.

What we do know is he wants to play and should be able to at somepoint. He has said the Pats will get first crack at him. Assuming he can get back to %85-%90 of where he was last year he is a better end then Ninko and Ninko is probably more valuable backing up end and LB.

The one thing I find curious is why is Carter being so quite? Wether he is ready soon or midseason he is getting closer and closer to that day and if he didn't think he would be back here wouldn't he want to make a timeline known to anyone else pursuing him?

At this point I'm still hopeful that Waters will return, but Andre Carter seems unlikely to re-sign at this point due to a combination of age, injury, and rumored financial demands.

I was kinda hoping that Waters would've reported this weekend, now that TC practices have ended.

As for Carter, if he re-signs at all, it will happen after Week 1 at the earliest.

But if either of them return, will that spell the end of Edelman?

OK...enough is enough...I'm going to have to ask all you Edelites to please report to the nearest disintegration chamber within the next 24 hours....thanx.

The MGMT.

I lean towards Waters coming back and have been for awhile, but then the apprehensiveness from Reiss et al tend to pull me back into no man's land again.

If I had to bet though, I would bet that he's coming back. One way or another we'll know soon enough. I will agree that some of the signs like keeping his locker, his jersey number etc point to a positive direction.

I don't think Carter's even part of the shadow roster at this point. I think he's on the list that comes after the shadow roster. Maybe just the rolodex?

I think they became more and more used to the idea of moving on without him due to the poor recovery reports, the knowledge of the bad injury, the choice of moving up twice in round one with 2 front seven players, and the positive camp that C.Jones has had.

The sooner Waters arrives, the better I (& likely Brady) will feel.

And BTW, has anybody been issued Matt Light's number yet?

You can NEVER have to many good pass rushers in my mind.i love jones but he hasnt proven anything yet. Carter has.

Carter, nope.

Waters, yes. BB isn't going to stress him out playing in the pre-season. Look for him to join the team after next weeks game and then get a little (very little) playing time in the last pre-season game to loosen up 'dem ol' bones'.
