You need to change the question because Hoyer is under contract for this season.. Do you mean AFTER this year?
Between the reports of others, and what I've seen for myself, Mallett's not ready to be a QB2 in the NFL, IMO. That being the case, I don't see any way that Hoyer is traded away.
There's a fourth option that wasn't listed on the poll, that I would have voted for: "they hope to trade him, but would be happy to keep him if no one offers fair value"
All depends on the offer IMO ... what round pick is worth the risk of trading him and handing the job to Mallett. Patriots would not be doing their job if the door wasn't open. So would the Patriots say yes to a #2? I don't think they would do it for a #3.
Then again what if a team offered a #2 for Mallett?
to me that question is more intriguing than the Hoyer question. Hoyer's good as gone next year so if you trade Mallett and lose Hoyer we're in tough shape unless we get a vet here to backup Brady.
Does anyone know who the emergency QB might be this year?
Edelman was a 3 year QB at Kent ... any others?
Ridley played a little QB in high school (also RB and FB, so perhaps not much).

Or manage to draft another UDFA like Hoyer who became Brady's lone backup in 2009 with the GOAT coming off an ACL injury...
I feel like we're wasting a draft pick drafting an undrafted player.
I believe that was in response to the "What if the Pats trade Mallett and then Hoyer leaves in FA?"
