The 2012 season: the Jets [Mod Edit: STILL] suck

How do you coach against a guy that is doing everything AGAINST the book? Why is this guy making it so easy for us? I swear to god, that team is ruining my dedication to true movie comedies. The Golden Girls have been repleaced by Rexy's World!

And they follow this guy, that's the best part. How do you root for a guy that lost control of the team, said he learned his lesson, and goes from what he was last year to being worse?

As far as being the best defensive coach; How is he better than the guy that had the worst defense in the NFL take his team to the Superbowl?

Oh, I forgot, 2 AFCCG is better than making the SB 50% of the time you're in tenure.

My bad, BB sucks compared to Mr. Toes

Imagine how it must be for Eli Manning, Tom Coughlin, the Giants and their fans. They win the SB for the second time in less than five years and on the way they dismember the Jets, and what does the NY media want to talk about most? Sexy Rexy and The Sanchize. Amazing.

Put me in the camp that has no sympathy, but rather envy for the Giants. What I wouldn't give for an offseason where no one talks about the Patriots, their expectations are low, and they constantly feel disrespected by the media. The last time that happened was probably 2004, or maybe after the 2009 season.

NFLN seems to have a no-Pats training camp diet this year... I'm fine with that. As for the JEST, Tebow's being booed in camp, and this year is shaping up to be something very special in the annals of Jets Suckitude... Now let's go eat a goddam snack!

Some O.P.s for Joker as he passes the time:

Can Tebow be a John Riggins type RB?
Can anyone else see him as a John Riggins type back? He has the size, speed, and running ability to scare the sh*t out of defenses. Plus, they'll have to repect his ability to throw.

It could work.

If Rex had chose Ray Lewis over Bart Scott, would we have went to a SB?
Just a thought...

Waddaya think?

your #1 WR wouldn't even be 5th on the Pats depth chart....run along little green mongo

Your #1 WR has been on how many teams in the last 4 years?

Your WR's are average at best without Brady

Only true beast on offense is Gronk, Hernandez is a nice compliment who will be a FA next year.

Hernandez is a "nice compliment"....it's like reading a blind guy describe a rainbow

Brady's time is running out, and maybe sooner than later with no OL.

Poor Ray Ray.....

Your #1 WR has been on how many teams in the last 4 years?

Welker's been with the team since 2007.

Your WR's are average at best without Brady

Lloyd led the league without Brady, Gaffney had 947 yards last season

Only true beast on offense is Gronk, Hernandez is a nice compliment who will be a FA next year.

Hernandez' 79 receptions last season was 14 more than the leading Jets receiver had. He also doesn't become a free agent until 2014.

Brady's time is running out, and maybe sooner than later with no OL.[/i]

Solder is a first round pick
Mankins is a Pro Bowler and 2nd team All Pro
Koppen is a former Pro Bowler
Waters is a Pro Bowler
Vollmer is a former All Pro

With the exception of Koppen and Vollmer, both of whom were injured for most of last year, all played better than any Jets O-lineman not named Mangold.

The Jets, on the other hand, have Slauson (sucks)/Ducasse (bust), Hunter (turnstile), Ferguson (overrated turnstile), Moore (older than any Patriots O-lineman except Waters), Mangold (great player). When it comes to having no OL, the Jets are far closer to that than the Patriots. If you're basing QB survival on the offensive line, Mark "unlimited ceiling" Sanchez has less NFL time left than Brady.

The more I look at the comparisons, the more screwed I see the Jets if their top picks from this year and last year don't work out in a big, big way.

"Bill Belichick is pretty good" - Rex Ryan 7-27-2012

“You know what? I look at myself as the best defensive coach in football,” Ryan said via the New York Daily News. “That’s saying something because **** LeBeau is pretty darn good. Bill Belichick is pretty good. But that’s the way I’ve always believed. And you know what? I believe it because (of) the guys I coach with, there’s no doubt about that. And the guys I’ve coached. But that’s the truth. That’s kind of how I feel."

"If it was a spelling bee, I'd bet against me," he added later. "If it's anything else—a fight, coaching football—I'm betting on me."
-Rex Ryan, NY Daily News 7-27-2012

Thank you, Coach Blockhead. We were wondering how deep into training camp it would get before the buffoonery began. Instead of the Super Bowl Rex is anointing himself the best defensive coach in football. That's nice. Then why did they promote you to Head Coach?

So the best that "the best defensive coach in football" could do is to hold the Patriots to 67 points in two games in 2011 and miss the playoffs?

Best of all, he just had to mention Hall of Famer **** LeBeau who is the DC in Pittsburgh and our very own Bill Belichick. Of course, no mention of the guy he hired to run his defense, Mike Pettine (who?)

Oh, yeah. He also pissed off these guys: List of active National Football League defensive coordinators - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wow, Mike Lombardi on NFLN is really ripping the Green Beans: defense is very slow, offense is a mess all-around. He specified their offensive line and wide receivers as big problem areas. Kerley is lazy, Santonio is head case waiting to explode, Hill will need at least a year to learn how to run routes. :singing:

FWIW -- I think the Jets will be mediocre just like last year.

The rivalry will lose a bit of steam because it will be lopsided with Pats winning both times. And it might be Rex Ryans last year in NY.

All the Jets fans are all ecstatic that Sanchez is completing a lot of pases, but I wonder if that means their defense is not doing well. They are excited that Maybin is getting sacks, but does that mean that Hunter and/or Ferguson are just playing like crap.

I know most Jets fans thought their defense was top 5 last year and will be elite this year with the massive upgrades. The truth is their defense was closer to middle of the pack and their yardage stats look so good is because their offense and special teams were putrid giving opposing teams favorable field position.

As for the massive upgrades, I really don't see any. Landry will be an upgrade if healthy, but history says that he is not the answer to stop TEs like Gronk or Hernandez. Bell is old. Coples is an unknown as a rookie. They expect Kendrick Ellis to make this huge jump, but he is still buried on the roster in camp from the reports I have heard.

BTW, the Jets fans will dismiss any Lombardi comment as Pats' homer rants. They are partially right. Lombardi does have a bit a hero worship for Belichick, but he has been fairly objective with the Jets from what I have seen.

There is a lot of truth in here.
There really isn't much speed on that D, and if they are really moving to a 43, that accentuates the problem.
On the OL Mangold is awesome, and Moore is pretty good. RT is a mess, Ferguson is badly overrated and Slauson is the definition of a jag. There is absolutely no depth.
I can't believe anyone would consider that WR group anything but a huge liability.
Holmes could be the worst #1 in the NFL (I'm sure some team out there is as bad, but 700-800 yards of a #1 is putrid) Hill isn't ready and Chaz Shillins is probably on the only NFL team he could be #2 on.

Without Revis the defense is mediocre at best, he allows them to cover for a lot of weaknesses, yet they still allowed a lot of points and were 8-8. Without Revis, its a 3-13 team.

BTW, could Revis begun his non-holdout holdout today. He missed practice today because of a sore hamstring. He has been accused of faking hamstring injuries in the past.

It is the perfect way to holdout on the Jets without violating the holdout clause on his contract. Hamstring injuries are impossible to detect unless there is a tear and a simple hamstring strain can keep a player out for weeks sometimes. It will be interesting to watch.

EDIT: Revis claims it isn't serious or contract related and will be back at practice tomorrow.

This guy certainly doesn't look like a quarterback. Fullback, perhaps ...
