IDK if anyone has brought this up, but Mark Schlereth and Sean Salisbury did a breakdown of a couple different factors:
Both picked Brady for QB
Both picked Indy's offense
Schlereth picked NE's D (although with trepidation), Salisbury picked INDY's
Both picked BB
Both picked the Colts' ST

Now hold on just a second... Did Salisbury seriously pick the Colts' defense over the Pats defense? I know the guy's dumb and all, and I know you brought it up too, but the Colts have had 2 good games to make up for a year of sucking whereas the Pats have been good (i.e. 2nd best in the league) all year and are still coming off a good performance against the Chargers. That is seriously one of the dumbest things I have ever read in my life. Might as well say that Rex Grossman is better than both Brady and Manning because he didn't look too bad his last game.

And I agree with you on Special Teams as well, with the extra note that Hunter Smith is really one of the worst punters in the league and I'd fully expect a supposedly washed-up but so far effective Todd Sauerbrun to be better than him.

man they are already showing peyton dressed up as a saints fan as a kid..scheter and co saying colts/saints is the best story and everyone wants to see

ron jaworski picks the colts..heard on wfan
expects manning to have a great game and all the stars have aligned for the colts and they wont let this opportunity slip away

This is interesting as jaws always seemed to pick the Pats.....

Florio picks the Colts in his latest PFT Ten-Pack.

(But adds "We hope we're wrong.")

Nunyo Demasio at SI.com wants to pick against the Patriots so bad, he picked them to lose twice over the weekend, losing 30-21 in Chicago to the Bears and then hustling over to Indianapolis to lose 34-20 to the Colts.

Picking the Colts against the Pats is like picking France in a war over Germany.

Morons.

Yeah but you've got to admit that Colts D has turned into a modern day Maginot Line. How can that possibly be defeated.

By Sunday night, Brady will be in Paris eating a croissant & doing whatever he wants with the French ladies!

Layden is such a moron. Anyone detect a double standard here?

Tim Layden:
Tom Brady's heroics late Sunday obscured a spotty performance in which victory was enabled by the playoff-challenged Chargers. The Colts' revitalized defense has been the story of the playoffs and there is little reason to think they'll cave at home with a Super Bowl spot on the line. And it's time for Peyton Manning to make some plays, which he will.
Colts 28, Patriots 20

1. Apparently, Brady is a bad boy for throwing 3 picks in 2 playoff games. But it's just fine and dandy for Manning to throw 5 in two games and not at all ''spoty".

2. It's funny, I remember the same things being said right before Sh!ttsburgh marched into Indy and dropped them in the Divisional game last year.

Steve Szaban(sp?) on fox sports radio thinks the Colts are going to win, which I have no issue with. He reasoned the fact that NE was trailing Detroit in the 4th and then the following week got shut out by Miami was a sign the team isn't very good, and then pronounced that superbowl teams do not get shut out. He then said that he would bet that no recent superbowl team has been shut out during the season though admitted he had no idea and ended with "please don't tell me it happened last year." Maybe someone on his show will look it up and get to 2003.

I like the guy's show and he is one of the few hosts who seems comfortable being wrong so I don't hold it against him. I just thought it was funny.

On "Mike & Mike's" Stone Cold Lead Pipe locks:

Golic picks the Colts because its set up for Indy this year and they need to get by their nemesis, winning on an Adam V field goal.
Greenberg (a diehard Jets fan) picks Indy because his gut says this is Indy's year.

QB12

Borges, Felger and Don Banks all picked the Colts on Felgers TV show last night. I love it so! :rocker:

Scouts Inc has the Pats 28-27: Here's ther edges: Pats have: QB, RB, DL, LB, Special Teams, and Coach. Colts have: WR, OL, and DB. They give the Pats the overall edge.

Why does it matter who picks who anyway? ITs gonna come down to who has the best game plan and who executes the best on gameday. The predictions mean nothing once the game starts so i see no point in them.

Jim Rome picks Colts.

Three of the Four idiots on Around The Horn picked Indy. My favorite was when one of them said "They spanked the Patriots this year at Gillette." If spanked means we played one of our worst games of the year where Brady threw 4 picks, and we STILL had a chance to tie it on the final drive, then yes, we got spanked.
