Ocho Released

I never understood the Ochocinco hate around here. I wish him the best, and it sucks it didn't work out for the both sides.

Re: per adam shefter, ocho is done in New England

This is the most likely result, barring injuries.

It is a little early for Belichick to cut back quite this much, but it is what it is. Stallworth and Ebert will get lots of camp and preseason reps.

Believe it or not, I see Belichick adding a wide receiver or two for training camp.

I think we're now pretty much set at-

1.Welker
2.Lloyd
3.Gaffney
4.Branch
5.Edelman
6.Slater

Cuts will be Stallworth and Ebert (he'll probably be signed to PS)

I have the Pats going with 6 WRs:

Lloyd
Welker
Gaffney
Branch
Stallworth
Edelman (because of versatility)

Ebert to the PS.

IMHO, this is the best option at this time.

Shmessy, are you actually cutting Slater or just not counting him as a WR?

Besides sucking the guy did nothing wrong. I am however glad that this means they have better options on this team.

Counting him as a safety.

That being said - - it would be easy to insert him as a WR if Stallworth doesn't win the coin flip.

Not only at WR, but my Lord- - - did you see what the depth is at TE now?????

Re: Ocho released....2 PM..June 7th

I wasn't commenting on why the Patriots did it, Rob. I figure that they felt Johnson wasn't going to get it, or that the new additions were going to beat him out even if he did, so they were letting a respected veteran go out looking for a job after they couldn't get anything for him. With regards to "nonsensical", I was commenting on the glee of posters over a guy getting cut in early June, for no reason other than them wanting him cut.

Ok, I get your point now.

I don't get the hate towards Ochocinco. Yes, he was a bust as a signing, but from all appearances he did try to learn the system and just couldn't and he towed the company line. I don't have a problem with guys who try and buy into the Patriots' system, but just suck. It's not like he was a Haynesworth, Adalius Thomas, or Shawn Springs who just didn't try and were bad lockerroom influences.

Granted I did get a lot of crap for hating on BJGE because I thought he was mostly a JAG before his one good year.

Agreed. By all accounts, he's a good guy, so I hope that this gives him plenty of time to catch on somewhere else. It's too bad that he didn't work out here, but clearly it just wasn't a good fit. He'll probably go to another team with a much simpler offense (I assume he burned too many bridges to go back to Cincy, but they could sure use a veteran WR) and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he thrives there.

I wonder if the New Jersey Green Puke will sign him.

So… Ocho’s Patriots breakout game will finally happen at the expense of the Pats secondary?

Best of luck to the unemployed black guy. He'll do great this year with another team that doesn't run a complex offense or runs something similiar to what he did in Cincy. He won't be the man, nor will he have to. That's why I think he'll be just fine. He also can pick whatever team he wants. I will be one of the ones rooting for him next year. Good luck Chad.

Go Celtics!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got home, read the news and to be honest I swear I was so happy that I almost had a pants tent in happiness.

Let some other team take this Hollywood Attention Whore P.O.S. and waste a roster spot.

Just as bad as it was signing him a year ago,now this may be the best roster move in Belichick's tenure here.

Hahahah I was listening to this too and though about posting but it's not confirmed. They just said that he didnt have the Patriots wide receiver tag under his twitter profile any longer. But, they did say they spotted him leaving Gilette, we'll see

Calling Ocho a Patriots wide receiver, was kinda pushing credibility anyway.

Well, sad to see him go, always liked him. But must say glad that my 20something daughter won't be telling me all about these "tweet" things that seem to this old foggie as darn close to stalking!!!:)
Good luck Chad, thanks for stopping by!

Are you happy that he's gone or that he's an unemployed black guy? :p

heh...sorry, i'm not usually the grammar police but this spelling made me picture ocho's time with the patriots as even tougher than i realized...

All right, what do I win? I had Ocho in the "Whose your surprise cut of the season?" sweepstakes! And although he might not have been a total surprise, I certainly beat the rest of you to the punch!

Seriously, I am sorry that Chad couldn't make it with the Pats. I was hoping that when they acquired him he would go back to lighting it up. Hopefully he'll catch on elsewhere.

That may lead to a lesser number of WRs

Re: per adam shefter, ocho is done in New England

See ya Ocho, it just never worked out.

That leaves Stallworth, Branch, Edelman, and Ebert competing for two spots. Go Binky Ebert!

1. Welker
2. Lloyd
3. Gaffney
4. ??????
5. ??????
6. Slater

Let me fix that for you.

1. Welker
2. Lloyd
3. Gaffney
4. Slater
5. ??????
6. Profit
