Willie McGinest rips Wes Welker

Except that not all opinions are created equal, and thus should not be treated as if they were. If you're going to come on a board and make utterly ridiculous assertions like:

1.) Welker was a nobody before Brady
2.) Edelman can put up the same numbers as Welker
3.) Welker is a choke artist

...you should be prepared for the resultant ridicule your comments engender. Now, rest assured I value your concern (trolling) and hope you enjoy your stay on this forum, however brief it may ultimately be.

1. Uhm Welker was all pro before brady?

2. Edelman didnt step up big in Wess absence?

3. Did you go to the SB parade in Boston this year?

You can't possibly have a problem with every point he made. Some of them, like 1 and 2 should be pretty obvious.

No, it's not all the points, and the two you pointed out should be common sense (although #2 seems to be beyond a lot of the Welker bashers in these threads). It's just that some of his points are absolutely ridiculous.

To you but not to others. Alot of things you say are ridiculous. Just cause you dont agree with what he says doesnt mean its wrong. Brb throwing on Yuppie shield. :violent::cool3:

None of these points are relevant or exculpate your earlier post.

The only one I could argue is ridiculous is #8. So long as Welker is healthy and productive he'll always have a role in a Brady led offense. The rest though are either projections on the situation (the details of which are unknown in real life, so a projection can hardly be called ridiculous) or opinions on what he thinks Welker should do, and they're not terribly crazy opinions at that. Disagreeing with an opinion doesn't make it ridiculous.

In the interest of discussion, what problems did you have with some of his opinions?

Wes Welker is an integral part of the Patriots offense. Wes Welker has done everything asked of him and more. Wes Welker is the best slot receiver in the game. In case you have been under a rock for the past decade, the short and intermediate pass is the Patriots bread and butter. It's also the most dangerous for a reciever. Wes Welker deserves to get paid. Those of you turning on him should be ashamed of yourselves.

Re: Willie McGinest: Sign the contract Wes

Willie McGinest on NFL Network tonight had some tough words for Wes Welker. They reported that Wes today said he may not come to June minicamp and Willie went right at him. He said don't be a diva and that before he came to the New England system and Tom Brady he was a nobody. Willie noted that the Pats will be fine with the other receivers they picked up and that in New England you don't miss minicamp. He ended by saying that everyone in New England is expendable except for Belichick and Brady and for Wes to sign the contract they're offering.

I haven't seen this side of Willie on TV, he's usually pretty low key.

Oh the irony. Coming from a guy who knew he was overpaid, refused to take a pay-cut and then whined incessantly after he was cut..

I wonder how we'll manage to get a 1,500 yard receiver for ~7mm per?

He is a product of the system sorry to hurt your feelings. I have no problem throwing Wes a bone but sadly he will probably drop it. I cant feel bad for a guy who can make 9 mill a year sorry.

Re: Willie McGinest: Sign the contract Wes

In regards to your last sentence, maybe for you. But other fans like myself could care less how many regular season passes he catches. I'll take some low statistic (compared to Welker) Troy Browns or David Pattens over him. They didn't blow Superbowl victories. Welker has done more for fantasy owners than me as a Patriots fan. :bricks:

Welker didn't blow a SB victory. That pass was not very good to begin with. It's one that Welker had run only 3 times during the season. Not to mention that you ignore the fact that the defense gave up two scores in the 2nd half allowing the Giants to over-take the Pats. You also ignore the drops by Hernandez and Branch.

The entire team is to blame for that loss, not just Welker. Only a simpleton who doesn't understand the complexities of the game thinks that it all rests on Welker.

Actually, he isn't. No doubt he's better playing with a HoF QB like Brady but your assertion simply does not pass muster.

I'm not feeling sorry for him either. It IS hard to feel bad for men that make millions.....but to flat our disregard Wes' value to the team is foolish. Absolutely foolish.

Some fans will just not let go of that "drop" in the Superbowl.....the "drop" of a pass that wasn't exactly great, by the way.

Spoiled Pats fans. Sigh.....

I don't have to agree with the per year numbers, but Ken's OPINION that Welker should take it given his age, stature, and play style is valid enough to avoid the ridiculous tag. I don't expect Wes to actually except that (and if I were him, I'd take my chances with the $9.4 guaranteed before I signed Ken's deal), but again my comments were related to the blatant dismissal of opinion, not my personal take of said opinion.

Something that seems to be lost on this board recently.

If a ball hit a Lineman in the hands and dropped it then i would not be to mad about it. But when a WR drops a ball that could end the game that hits him in his hands but chokes and drops it then there is a problem there. 1 play can make or break a game and that 1 play broke the game. There is nothing to complex about it really. Im all for win as a team lose as a team. But when you just choked the SB away you need to shut up and accept the tag and move on. :rocker::rocker::rocker::rocker:

not sure, but we have a 1400 yard 17 TD guy making 500K

you're point is weak

Or better yet he could just take his 9 million and start getting better with his teammates. But maybe he thinks he actually won the last two SBs and believes whatever he's doing is good enough.

This is Welker's last chance for a big contract, if he blows out a knee this year are you going to compensate him for the $$$$ he never makes.

Both sides are using the leverage thay have I have no ploblem with Welker trying to get the best contract he can.

And all of that goes out the window when we are talking about a reciever that demands to be paid as one of the top guys in his position. If you want to be paid that much, you need to catch that. Welker choked in front on the biggest stage, everyone saw it.

What point was that? Because I'm not sure how Gronk's contract is relevant to my point.

It is a bit of a ridiculous opinion, then, given the market, isn't it?
