Who Is your Dark Horse Pick For The first Patriots Pick In The Draft?

Peter Konz - Can play Right Guard if Waters Retires and kick inside to Center when Koppen retires in 2013.

If we keep the pick at 27: Peter Konz.

If we trade up: Quentin Coples.

Doug Martin, and it wouldn't upset me at all...

The more I think about it, the more i would not be surprised to take a RB in this first round. The fact is we still need a RB or 2 on the roster and we brought in 3 big name FAs probably to sign after the draft so the interest is there. Vareen and Ridley were high picks and deserve to be starting, but BB could very well see that they are not the studs he hoped they were or at least not be any time soon.

So my dark horse is Doug Martin who is actually complementary to Ridley and Vareen and is a literal work horse who can carry the load.

Or if Connolly retires in 2015

Do you guys really trust Konz to stay healthy in 2012 let alone 2015?

Each of the last two years, he has been breaking down and that is against college competition.

Kendall Wright. If he falls and the Pats see Welker's situation getting ugly (he said he probably won't be at mandatory minicamp), then Wright would make a lot of sense as the new slot guy who can also play outside too.

That's why he's a dark horse

My dark horse pick is that the Patriots won't make a dark horse pick and instead will devote their resources to finally addressing the DE/OLB deficit in the first round.

That's a really good call.

Just did my binky mock using draft scout rankings and came away with:

#27-D. Hightower LB Ala.

#31-L. David SS/LB Neb.

#48-V. Curry OLB Mar.

#62-G. Iloka S Boise St.

The more posts I see about Doug Martin the more I feel confident saying he won't be a Patriot. I mean hey when was the last time we were on top of who the pick actually was?

Also like the Lavonte David pick.

I like the Kendall Wright pick by Sciz, he was supposed to be a out of our reach for a while. Now it seems like he's almost certain to be there. Along the same lines . . .

My dark horse, Alshon Jeffery. What's the knock on this guy again? Some photo shopped picture that turned out to BS. The guy shredded a loaded 'Bama D, played better against Jenkins than Julio Jones and AJ Green and was a top 5 pick to start the college season.

Andre Johnson, Megatron, Fitz, Nicks, Jennings, Colston, Roddy WHite, Brandon Marshall, Vincent Jackson, Dwayne Bowe. Notice a pattern with these guys. They're huge and present mismatch problems for the smaller cb's. Jeffery has the same type of build. Whoever gets this guy will be getting a steal.

Not sure who, but just like some of the above posters have stated, a WR isn't out of the cards for the first pick.

I tend to think that if it is a WR, they'll either trade up to get a Michael Floyd, or go with Kendall Wright. Alshon Jeffery does a lot of things that we already ask Gronk/Hernandez to do, and I think each of Floyd and Wright gives this team something we don't have right now.

I dont see Wright lasting to #27...I think the Browns get him at #22

Dark horse, you say?

Glenn--OT

Obviously, it would be a WTF pick in a lot of senses, as we seem to be okay on the outside of the OL, but Belichick may have something else in mind.

Doubt it will happen, but that's my definition of dark horse.

Janoris Jenkins...BB takes out a two year rental of this ticking timebomb

That's crazy. Literally at work today I was like "Watch the Patriots draft Lavonte David or Zach Brown."

Addressing the DE/OLB deficit would make the pick a dark horse pick since we know it will never happen

Kendall Wright has been dropping down in mocks for some reason all the way to the third round, which is kinda crazy to me. I don't why he's falling so far, but if he drops into our laps we must take advantage. All of our starting WRs are over 30! That's bad!

He's the only WR I would realistically pick for the Patriots in round 1

Patriots seem to like Streeter out of Miami, could be a target at the end of the fourth/early 5th

AJ Jenkins from Illinois.

He put up sick numbers (90 catches last yr) and was clocked at a 4.36/40.

I'm guessing 3rd round.
