It has been reported that Josh Mcdaniels has purchased a new home in Westwood for $2.2 million bucks.

I agree with the last paragraph of this article. I have stated that it is my opinion that the deal that Josh signed to return to New England included a part that guarantees him becoming the new head coach when Belichick retires, possibly within two years IMO.

McDaniels planting New England roots?

Of course, his measley 2.2 million dollar cottage must look like a shack compared to Brady's 12 million dollar Los Angeles palace.

I don't know where you are getting this Belichick retiring in two years thing from, Mcdaniels is probably going to be around here for a long time now, and he may well be the next head coach, but that doesn't mean Belichick is going anywhere for a while.

A whole lot of speculation, based on speculation.

Brady's palace in LA cost twice that... But since he and his wife make upwards of twice that again a year, it's the equivalent of you buying a single wide in Orlando...as opposed to a clear sign he intends to end his career with the 49ers...

Josh is probably making close to a million a year as a former HC reverted to OC, and will continue to make that or more as an OC or HC again eventually wherever, so he wouldn't be in the market for an affordable $400K starter home in a less toney neighborhood...

But that's just common sense and silly speculation is always more intriguing... That's why the practice squad exists...

I remember hearing about 3 or 4 years ago that Belichicks contract ended 2013.

I also heard he quietly signed an extension within the past year, or so, but I have no sure knowledge of that.

Brady's house is closer to $35 Million+ (at least that's what they are out of pocket).

Tom & Giselle paid almost $12 Mil for the land.....

I wish people would stop speculating McDaniels is the one who is going to replace Belichick - it's such a depressing thought.

What's the big deal? I used to live in that area; Westwood is a lovely community hard on Dover and Dedham with good public and private schools. It's a short drive to Foxboro. This was probably a chance to pick off what would have been a $2.7--$3.0MM home before the crash for around what he paid.

I hate thinking about it as well but fore some reason I think saben would be moved in as HC over JM

I'm pretty sure I am the only person here that thinks Josh McDaniels is an a@@hole. Really - the way he threw 'Lil Scarnecchia under the bus was disgusting. I do not trust him. I think his in-game adjustments leave much to be desired. I think his ego is giagantic - approaching BB proportions - but without the resume and therefore the right. Who else is so out of touch that they would waste a first round pick on Tim Tebow? Boy, that St Louis offense was scary this past season! Yeesh. If he is the HC here someday, God help us. I don't like the guy one bit.

Huh? The guy that's been an absolute failure as an NFL head coach and has no connection to the Patriots other than being friends with Belichick?

I don't think Belichick is going anywhere for a while, probably a few years after Brady retires, but I guarantee you it won't be Nick Saban replacing him when he does.

Saban was 15-17 as a head coach, McDaniels 11-17. Not that I think Saban will be the choice but he is a much better coach than McDaniels could ever hope to be. McDaniels doesn't seem like Head Coach material to me, I can't see him leading a locker room.

A few things:

-A $2.2 million home isn't that much for a guy who is making $750k to a million dollars a year. Plus, he made a lot of money as head coach of the Broncos.

- As pointed out, Brady's home is a lot more than the OP state. Plus, Brady owns at least three homes that I know of - the one in LA, the apartment in Boston, and one in Brazil.

Its actually 2,290,000 and its a nice spread, new home about 6000 sf., 7 baths because 6 just isnt enough :D

Why should we care about what he does with his money?

As a fan, I hope the dude has a nice place to get a good night's rest from time to time.

I can imagine Westwood has a decent property tax, so he'll be pumping some money into the town schools.

And maybe in a few years, he can p*ss some of it away at the new casino they want to put in next to the stadium.

Why shouldn't life be good?

I think this changes my opinion a little and I dont like it. (good thing is I have been wrong many times.

OK so to start when I first heard Josh was coming back to be our next OC I like many made the assumption that he was doing this with the idea that he has a good chance to be BBs replacement when that day eventually came. I assumed the agreement was sort of mutual we will consider you a top canidate but in return you give us some sort of commitment as our OC until BB is done. I assumed there was no real timeline but sort of an understanding the Josh would only leave for the abosulute best of opportunities and vice versa Josh would be the next guy short of Lombardi himself.

Now this purchase doesnt change my overall thinking all that much but it makes me wonder about two aspects of my line of thinking.
A) the timeline - maybe because I want to believe BB will be here forever I perceived this as being 5 or so years in the future. which now one has to wonder if maybe Josh was told something sooner.
B) the other thing I question is maybe this has nothing to do with the timeline but is an indication Josh doesnt care how long it takes but he is not going anywhere and he will be OC here until he has a shot at HC no matter how long.

Thats a good point. He and BB are fairly close. However, I believe it would be McDaniels because of his familiarity with the team, players, management, and the area.

And, I do believe that both BB and TB will retire much sooner than many believe moreso if they win another SB this, or next, year.

Brady now has another life with two young kids a world class model for a wife that travels the world and lets face it he is getting dinged up a bit more than in his younger days.

BB just looks tired. But then he has always had that tired Grumpy look anyway. :D
