Well if the Pats are happy with Mallett backing up TB then they have a two way battle for TB's successor. But if Tebow is willing to take on another role, then Tebow striikes me as an ideal Hernandez backup. Throw in the fact that McDaniels was the guy who drafted Tebow and BB apparently liked him in the draft, I don't think Tebow has a shortage of fans amongst Patriot decision makers.

And then throw in the fact that Denver will be in win now mode and we have two first round picks and I can certainly see the opportunity for a trade somewhere somehow. something like Tebow, Denvers first and second rounder and 2013 first or second for Patriots two firsts and Hoyer. Don't forget, for now the Broncos are without a backup QB.

I like your ideas.
It's better than the simple "no way, no how" crowd. You thought about it.

I think if you could get Tebow for a Hoyer and a pick (say fifth from the Broncos) it might make sense (even even up) BB has something in mind for Tebow.

Why would the Pats want to give the Donkeys peace of mind if/when Manning goes down?

One thing about the idea of the Pats picking up Tebow for a "low pick": NE has no picks after the fourth round this year. Though I fully expect that to change once draft weekend gets under way, I'd be surprised if they could offer the Broncs anything before then for this year's draft.

Not saying this would/should happen, but you can get "change" back: e.g., a 4th for Tebow + a 6th.

Imagine the schadenfreude if, when the Pats play Manning's Denver, the Pats bring in Tebow on 4th and goal to score the winning touchdown. God!, I'd do the trade just to see that.

I think Tebow would have to spend a lot of time praying for Gronk's soul.

Don't want his contract one bit, so no way would I want to trade for him.

If he were RELEASED, sure I'd give him a low level offer to play fullback, but that's it.

The Patriots are famously secretive about the players they are interested in and visit with prior to the draft. Yet on the other hand the opposite was true with their meeting with Tebow.

Would there be any Tebow to the Pats speculation had the photo op in the North End not taken place two years ago?

I'm not pimping the guy, but just to answer your query:

Signing bonus won't carry over as cap hit, but will remain in Denver. Supposedly, Denver doesn't expect much in return (5th was mentioned as the high, I believe), meaning non-cash investment is almost nil.

Answering myself, given a few seconds to spare I googled this...

2012: $1.942.5 million (fully guaranteed)
2013: $2.266.75 million (fully guaranteed)
2014: $2.590.5 million ($567,500 guaranteed)

Of course there would be speculation our OC (and possible HC in waiting) drafted the kid using a #1 pick.

If he's released, he has to go through waivers first.

No there wouldn't.

There was plenty of speculation before that.

Please Dear God no. Find Tebow a job someplace else

Definitely workable, particularly given Hoyer's likely departure this season or next.

Why would Tebow want to do that? Tebow wants to be a QB. He isn't going to be willing to switch a position.

If after he receives no interest in a trade as a QB, he'll be left with little choice. Play RB and compete for a chance to play QB or sit on the bench .......... Denver can't carry two separate offenses, they're going to move him. Let's see if anyone wants him as a QB and then make an offer.

Maybe somebody will want him, in which case we get our fourth RB elsewhere.

Edit: Wow! Big contract, complicates matters for Denver.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mallett were to pass Hoyer on the depth chart. If that is the case then trading Hoyer for Tebow and swapping picks.

Hoyer + one of our #1 picks, for Tebow + Den #2 this year and #1 next year.

Again if Tebow buys into a non QB role with this team. (work with him as a #3 emergency on the side. Use him primarily as a RB.

As a rb who can throw the option pass it would put pressure on the D, he is a big rugged kid who can IMO be a good rb.

Jets, Jags, Browns, make alot more sense, Even Tampa Bay, Miami could be a options as well.

Isn't guaranteed money still required to be paid on termination or trade in the new CBA? I mean, why would we be responsible for any guarantee?

Pats won't trade for Tebow, the QB salary profile is out of line. But signing him as a FA, IS a possibility.

Lombardi did it. Bill Belichick is one of the few whose caoching clout who could do it,too. Lombardi made the former #1 pick in the Draft QB, the "Golden Boy" from Notre Dame yet, into a position switch.

He chose or make Paul Hornung a RB to reclaim Hornung's HOF career. Belichick has eniough clout to do the same. Tim Tebow is a NFL RB, who like Hornung can throw the option HB pass.

Hornung still made the HOF that way. So did a low round draft pick who Lombardi chose as his QB, fellow named Bart Starr.

Maybe Belichick could fashion a similar career for Tebow.:snob:

 I am remembering all the Michael Bishop threads we once had.
