I've been mocking their 2nd, first 4th and next years first.

I don't know if you've had a chance to see RGIII's press conference at the Combine - he is one seriously smart dude - one of the best press conferences in any field that I've seen.

I actually think the deal is worth it - you don't get anywhere in the NFL without a quality QB. If RGIII's your man, you've got to go get him.

Talk about a big news week in the NFL.

Didn't see it, but didn't need to. I am intensely impressed by this young lad.

And I agree with you: Terrific Diagnostics and Processing Speed.

And he's got a phenomenal Work Ethic.

He's gonna be a good one.

He better becomes the man in Washington or else they set back that franchise for years. But at least it's not much of a financial risk. They need to get him some weapons though. Fred Davis has become a pretty good receiving TE, but they don't have much at receiver. Santana Moss is slowing down and Jabar Gaffney is a No. 2 at best.

Well the rumour is that they're looking to acquire a stud WR in free agency and they have the room. I think what works in their favour is that they still have picks 2-7 in each of the next two years so it's not like they're going to be struggling to fill the roster. A couple of wise free agency acquisitions and it's a net improvement assuming RGIII doesn't bust.

One last thought. I'd far rather be a Redskins fan right now than a Colts fan. They may be drafting the best QB in a generation, but there's nothing around him. at least the Redskins have the skeleton of a decent team.

Its a risk for the Skins but each draft pick you make is a risk, any pick could be a bust. They've identified a guy that they believe will explode in the nfl, got their QB for 12 seasons and I tend to agree. Will the cost still be too high if he starts putting up Cam Newton like numbers in the rookie year? NO! We can't tell right now if RG3 is worth the picks or not. I think he is though. And as manxman2601 said, the skins will now probably take a shot at VJax AND some o-line strengthening. I rate them as a team espite their record this season and I wish them luck

This is the kind of trade that could set up both franchises for the next decade, but it also has the ability to cripple the Redskins for the next 5-8 years as well. For the Rams, this trade has absolutely no downside, and its more than I thought they would ever get. I thought from the beginning that the Redskins were the favorites to trade up because Snyder loves making big moves, but this is risky. I'm surprised it all came together so early. I'm not surprised it happened before the draft, but this far before shocked me. Has Washington even had a private workout with RGIII? I doubt it would make a huge difference in their evaluation, but you need all the information you can get before taking such a big risk. In the end it could work out pretty well for Washington if RGIII is a franchise QB, I just hope he doesn't blow out his knee or something before the draft, that would really screw the Skins.

This way to much.

But I guess I'll have to start watching the Redskins just because of this kid.

Dan Synder is such an idiot. Total fool. If I was Shanahan I would resign right now; there is no hope for the Redskins. I am pretty sure Synder overruled Shanahan and make this bonehead trade. What I have to wonder is how do idiots like Synder get so rich; I suspect he just sued his way to the top.

This is the second coming of the Hershel Walker trade. The Rams are set for the foreseeable future. The Redskins are going to suck for years and the Rams will have high-round picks.

You have to wonder if the Colt screwed up also (another meddling owner); would they have been better off keeping Manning and getting 3 first rounders instead of Luck? Heck yeah.

HILARIOUS Trade.

When I saw the HeadLine, I thought: "OK. Premature Trade ~ Before The Feeding Frenzy ~ almost CERTAINLY guarantees 60-80% of what they COULD have got...

Oh, but I was WRONG!!! :rocker:

YES...

I UNDERSTAND that the Book Value ~ Original Grid Terminology, please submit 2 Bits if you just read this!! :D ~ breaks it down as:

1 1st Rounder
2 2nd Rounders ~ 2012 2nd + Deferred 2013 1st
1 3rd Rounder ~ Deferred 2014 1st

...But that's BOOK Value, which is pretty close to MARKET Value...

...But INTRINSIC Value is another bird, all together.

Those are 3 1st Rounders, Boys.

And a 2nd.

The Rams just done RAPED the RedSkins!!

And its not just 1st round picks, it has to potential to be high 1st round picks. They get #6 and #47 this year, and there is a decent chance next year could be top 10 as well. Cam Newton had about as impressive rookie season you could ask for from a Rookie QB, and the Panthers are still picking #9 this year. RGIII could be a huge success and Stl could still get some really high picks because Washington still need upgrades as a team before they can compete. The Rams really bent them over a table here.

Washington didn't just trade for the second pick, they traded for a (potential) franchise QB, which is the rarest of rarest commodities in the NFL. Witness the feeding frenzy over one P. Manning, a 36 year old QB coming off 4 neck surgeries who didn't play last year and may never play again at a high level. If the second pick was ______(name any second pick of the past 10 years), the Skins would not have paid this ransom.

This is the key word. If he turns out it is a solid trade for the Skins. If it doesn't, they are set back 5-8 years. They obviously must believe in him to make this trade and make it early, but now they have to be right. And not only that, they need to put him in a situation to succeed by putting talent around him and hoping he gels with the coaching staff. Its a huge risk, but has potentially huge rewards.

Yup!! The Rams BORED OUT the RedSkins!!

Pretty freaking amusing, in light of all the pathetically idiotic "Oh, that kind of trade doesn't HAPPEN anymore" sewage that my eyes've been assaulted with, over the last few years!!

Not a chance; the Redskins got screwed. You can bank on that. And it could not happen to a nicer guy than Dan Synder....who I think is the most reprehensible person in sports today. A litigious slimeball.

Clearly Snyder overruled Shanahan. If I was Shanahan I would quit. What a mess he has inherited now; the future has been mortaged for an unproven rookie.
