Herald's Buckley: Pats fans, leave Steve DeOssie alone

I bring this up simply to underscore the point is that DeOssie has always been a baloney salesman, this incident with the Giants pep rally is just another reason to not lend any credence to his analysis and opinions, no matter how well (or not) he articulates them.

How can any Pats fan take what he says seriously in the future?

I don't live there, but I wouldn't consume any service he is affiliated with.

This is what is so great about this country, you tell us what you really believe in, and consumers react.

This article is so predictable
Reinforces Pink Face's contention that fans are upset because he roots for the
Giants

The Brotherhood of the Local Pundits have spoken:
Ordway
Callahan
Buck
What more prestigious sources of opinion do you need?

The fact of the matter is Pink Face got drunk
Stood up at a very public event
Spewed venom at his primary audience
Blamed the locals for misinterpreting his message and motives
Did not apologize

This is not about his Son
His tenure with the Giants
Fred Smerlas
Patriot Fans bitter about a tough loss

Don't believe the lies in print or broadcast on the airways
Boycott Pinkface
Don't listen to him on radio
Don't watch his TV appearences
Contact any media outlet that distributes his voice or image and tell them that continuing to carry this Blowhard will cost them....

I'm guessing you work for the radio station or you are DeOssie's agent.

"Keep calling the show......" Yeah, right. You must believe people here are what Buckley described them as.

Next you'll write, "Go to Pawngo and buy more stuff!".

Call the station, not the show.

Guess what? DeOssie WANTS more people calling the show and hanging on his every word. This is why I didn't click the link for Buckley's column - - I read all I needed from the clip put in this thread. There is a little concept called commerce. It drives the market.

wha?

you dont have to call in bro. send texts saying i want you out and gone.

also im pretty sure i saw someone else right the contact info for weei and their sponsors.

i wish i worked for eei.

lol

so he should just follow his heart.
I don't think his heart would get very far in NY. His son may play for the giants, but DeOssie himself is pretty much a nobody compared to others on those teams that won championships. He's a minor figure at best, up here hes the local boy made good in the NFL..... He very well may have Screwed the Pooch with this move.

Good idea, what would be even better is to call the sponsors, if the station is losing them they'll act even quicker, it's the best way to hit them in the pocket.

Nailed it.

Buckley is a condescending ass, period. He talks down to sports enthusiasts worse than his colleagues, the CRHBF & Borges. They feel their writing is pointed to the raised pinky set not the neanderthals, thus their disgust with you and not giving your opinion any due.

DeOssie on the other hand predates neanderthals so I'm guessing the public showing of his disdain for NE and NEP stems from his core stupidity and not realizing his charade would be discovered. It's a free country (well, almost) and the neanderthals will have the last word. I'm all for denying him any opportunity to profit from this hated region up to and including boycotting his slop house.

Buckly and the rest are oblivious to your point because he/they don't normally hear from DR's, Lawyers, CEO, CFO's Engineers. Most of the callers they hear from are over the top yahoo's that frankly don't sound very educated or bright. I know, the few times ive tuned in i couln't listen for more than a couple of minutes, most of the callers are worse than the hosts. But thats no excuse, they have to know that a good deal of the fans don't have the time, the inclination or the desire to call. How many CEO's or DR's are going to call the Big Show?

That's true. We have computers, they have telephones.

The people who call into radio shows really have time on their hands.

I know, for myself and alot of us, this site is merely one out of several screens we have flickering while we work.

First of all I agree with everyone who thinks Buckley is an arrogant tool and that he is jumping in because Deossie is his EEI buddy. And the problem here for Deossie is that he actually built what he has for a reputation on being somewhat analytical and not being the homer that his buddy Smerlas is, not a high bar to clear. And while I completely understand Deossie being a Giants fan and rooting for them and for his son he shredded the credibility he had by ripping on NE and the Patriots. He would have been wise to keep those sentiments to himself and now he will pay the price for those comments. I think EEI and ordway and the rest will stand by him to whatever extent they can but if this doesn't die down and people actually do stop tuning in and watching Tailgate then they will cut his sorry ass.

I would be willing to bet that the person who is angriest at Deossie is Smerlas, as I would bet he believes that this will harm profits at their steakhouse, and he may well be right.

So do the people who are really upset about his description in the lead sentence consider themselves knuckle draggers?

Because he's only pointing out the people who are hellbent out of shape about DeOssie cheering for the Giants. I can care less.

Steve DeOssie is an evil genius. His Q Rating is skyrocketing and Fred & Steve's is getting more mentions than ever. Pretty good for a kid who went to Don Bosco Tech.

Hoodie taught him well.

I don't mind at all if he roots for the Giants. To me that's neither here nor there.

But watch the video. He yells out "I struggle sometimes having to live up there in NE, but I have a home in NY".

Taking a dump on your customer base is not good policy.

If DeOssie was saying the same things before and after the video I wouldn't care. He's now saying he's always been a Giants guy because that's where he won a SB, where they helped him with addiction, ETC and it has nothing to do with his son.

This article before the SB paints a different picture.

No breaking the DeOssie family ties at Super Bowl - Brockton, MA - The Enterprise

“I grew up in Boston, lived in Boston, played for the Patriots, cover them on TV and radio,” said DeOssie.

“I went through it the first time and it’s pretty much the same this year,” DeOssie said. “About 95 percent of people understand exactly why I want my son to win – because he’s my son! But there’s always going to be that four or five percent of people that are so blinded that they don’t understand that that’s more important.”

“I love the Patriots. I love the Giants,” said Steve, who also played for the Cowboys and Jets in his 12-year NFL career. “I love my son more than both of them. So it’s a simple equation. Family is far more important than your allegiance to a team."

If he just stuck with blood is thicker than water and how can I root against my son and I got carried away a bit in my exciement for him I wouldn't have an issue with him.

It's funny that the picking segment they have is called beat the frauds. I certainly wish somebody would beat this fraud.

As much as I was displeased with DeOssie for the lack of respect he exhibited (funny how our high and mighty mediots seem to not get the relevant issues at all) I have been that much more amazed at how poorly DeOssie has handled this after the fact and how poorly his media advocates have handled themselves in their efforts to be supportive of DeOssie.

For his part DeOssie may have had a difficult time recovering from this no matter how he handled it but at least he could have given himself a shot. As it is he has managed to validate our worst concerns and fueled them further.

As for Buckley he would have been better off just not commenting at all if this is supposed to be his effort to support DeOssie. As far as I am concerned Buckley just told us how far removed from fans he is and how little he understands the issues that have struck a nerve with New Englanders. Apparently Buck just could not wait to pour another can of gasoline on the fire.

It has actually been a long time since I have seen a single media event that has exposed our local media like this one has. We often joke a good deal about just this sort of thing. Unfortunately these guys have managed to turn perception into reality.

No one I know or have heard about begrudge DeOssie rooting for his son and the Giants. If he weren't rooting for them, they'd be something bigger wrong with him. That is not what has people, like me, ripsh!t as much as he and his media pals want you to believe. It's what he said at the end of the clip which clearly denigrated the NE area, the Pats fans and their players. They can lie until they die about it being who he rooted for, but he knows and they know that it's pure BS.

First, re Buckley, wouldn't it be a shame if folks decided to not drag their knuckles to the Old Time Baseball Game this year ... his hype for that should be getting started any minute now ...

Second, re DeOssie, not that this matters very much, but another element to his utter phoniness pertains to his "grew up in the projects" (specifically, the Fidelis Way project in Brighton) shtick. Those who know will tell you (as they've told me) it's "not quite true," unless moving from Brighton to West Roxbury before elementary school still qualifies as growing up in Brighton ... I bring this up simply to underscore the point is that DeOssie has always been a baloney salesman, this incident with the Giants pep rally is just another reason to not lend any credence to his analysis and opinions, no matter how well (or not) he articulates them.
I have heard DeOssie say before that he lived in different parts of the country because his father was an officer in the military. Not exactly what comes to mind when I picture a "projects kid."

And Buckley Quadruples down, I guess we can add Buckley and the Herald to the hit list

Pats fans, leave Steve DeOssie alone - BostonHerald.com

"This is for youse knuckle-dragging, nose-picking, mismatched-socks-wearin’,couldn’t-win-a-battle-of-wits-with-a-Pepsi-machine Patriots [team stats] fans who are spitting up your Doritos over Steve DeOssie’s over-the-top passion for the New York Giants: You’ve

become the laughingstock of sporting America."......Steve Buckly
Fortunately, Uncle Buck and DeOssie are getting their ***e$ handed to them in the comments section following the article. Virtually everyone knows that "rooting for his son and the Giants" was not an issue with virtually anyone. The "other stuff" he said was an issue and Buckley, WEEI, Comcast and WBZ-TV insist on not publicly recognizing that fact, despite the fact that they know the truth. That degree of disingenuity is the disgraceful part of all of this.
