BB's ominous sounding presser

Didn't Brady say he'd rather get to the SB and lose than not get there at all?

Didn't he also say he wanted to play until he was 40?

I think this (Belichick retiring) is far more speculative than the whole 'Brady body language' speculation from a while ago; remember those assumptions and conclusions? Sorry, but Rapoport and the fans that agree with him are reading way too much into his press conference responses than they should, in my opinion.

Ian is a gossip hound. He should work for the NY Post.

I bet if you go back every year he says about the same thing. I thought I was paranoid.

Actually, no, he hasn't sounded like that in the past. But I would also caution into reading a whole lot into it.

I think it's a mix of the hangover and being proud of the team. He's constantly said how proud he is of this group of players and how happy he is that he's coaching them, how mentally tough they are, they do what's asked, etc.

In Reiss' version BB mentions the combine in two weeks and that they're going to take some time to regroup and figure out the things they need to do and move forward. Combine in two weeks but he doesn't know what's going to happen in between.

As for the coaches thing, that may have to do with BOB assembling a staff and possibly Romeo bringing people over.

He's got a lot of pieces on this team he likes a lot. He'll be seriously competing with this group for a while.

BB is alot closer to this game than the sunny day fans who post here just occasionally and are bent out of shape at a loss.

He is rebuilding another dynasty and is about a year away from completing that task.

Give him a couple days to get the sour taste out of his mouth of that loss and geared up for the Combine and Draft Day.......

In BB WE Trust :rocker:

Just because I do not post here often does not mean I do not follow the team on a day-by-day basis... I just choose to use Twitter as my option of choice since it's also directly related into my job (radio personality).

One should never say never, but frankly I can't imagine BB doing this to Bob Kraft, leaving the organization at this point in time.

What I take from the "young coaches, old coaches" quote is, either he will promote Matt Patricia to DC since he said called the plays on the D a few weeks ago or he will bring someone as help on the D but not as DC.

Didn't he also say he wanted to play until he was 40?

Possible he wants to finish his career living near his parents, wife and child in California? Sure he's also noticed that SF has the #1 defense in the NFL.

He also talked about how the combine was in 2 and a half weeks. I think that says something about how this organization and BB's mind work.

Thank God for that.

Brady has said pretty consistently that he is a Patriot through and through.

If it was Patricia who called that second down blitz, he might want to do some thinking.

One should never say never, but frankly I can't imagine BB doing this to Bob Kraft, leaving the organization at this point in time.

He'd be leaving Kraft with any absolutely stacked team. Two excellent tackles, Solder and Vollmer, two great TE's Gronkowski & Hernandez, 3 young RB's in Ridley, BJGE, and Woodhead, two strong ILB's in Mayo & B. Spikes, a CB who lead the NFL in Interceptions ( Arrington ), & a young safety in Chung, all of who have not yet reached their prime.

Throw in 2 first round picks, 2 2nd round picks, and 2 third round picks in 2012, as well as great salary cap position. He'd be leaving a team in incredibly good shape for Mr. Kraft.

BB will retire when he thinks Josh is ready to take over. BB has one more run in him. Brady will retire when they think Mallet is ready. This will not be a Farve senario.

I wouldn't be shocked to see BB or even Brady retire this offseason. I think this loss broke them. Listening to Rodney yesterday say how much SB42 haunted him and caused him to consider retirement, I wouldn't be shocked.
Were you dropped on your head as a child? Brady is 34 years old and still in the prime of his career. If anything, this loss fuels his fire to compete even harder.

“The day after the game or an hour or two after the game is not the time to make any long-term decisions. I think it’s probably best that all of us – young players, old players, young coaches, old coaches – that we all take a little time to just catch our breath, collect our thoughts and try not to make any life-changing decisions coming off – either way; try to make those big decisions right on the tail end of big emotions in a game like that.”

That should put this thread to rest.

I know BB is the best coach for the pats and Brady is the best QB.....But I dont care anymore. Watching this team now is kind of like the celts big 3 in the late 80s..... And watching them rotate in role players to patch the tires.

watching the pats get beat by the giants the exact same way 3 times in a row, and mind you that the giants did not play particularly well in any of them.....I'm almost ready for the next era. I don't see a team that is a couple quick fixes away. With the way Brady plays QB, it is almost impossible to find good wr's for him while it used to be he could throw to anyone. Good against crappy teams but really struggle against good ones.

When is a QB reaching 35 years old in the prime of his career??

Make sure you weren't dropped on YOUR head!

Show me how many QBs have been championship QBs at this age?...John Elway is the only one that rings a bell.

Despite an outstanding season,Brady is on the downside of his career and if Belichick does not get him a stud running back like a Corey Dillon who can take over a game when Brady is not doing well, he can't keep up this 5,000 or even 4,000 yards passing streak....the time for Championships is closing by the year.

This team needs another Corey Dillon type destroyer runner before the Brady era has ended....Brady at 35 can't continue to carry the team,he needs help at RB and defense.

You'd be surprised the number of folks who were dropped on their heads as children, until you visit this place...

Age ain't nothing but a number in some cases. As far as I'm concerned Brady has shown no signs of decline, in fact considering the amount of yards and TDs he's thrown for this season, I'd say he's getting better with age. I'll give him three more years, by then he will have won two more rings and sure he'll be done with this game. I don't think he's leaving until everybody, including the haters, can see his greatness. He'll be like Jordan when he's done.

I said he's still in the prime of his career and the season he just had should leave no doubt that he's got another 3 or 4 quality seasons left. Do they need to a more balanced approach? Probably but my original comment was directed at the insanity of saying Brady should retire.
