Is the Globe turning against Brady?

Within 12 hours of the Super Bowl:

Ryan Mallett waiting for his chance with Patriots - The Boston Globe

Not so safety call: Blame Brady for this one - Boston.com

It certainly seems curious to run a story on the third QB who was a gameday inactive literally right after the loss. . . . And Mr. Wilbur's diatribe speaks for itself.

I haven't read anything from the Globe, and I hate to say it, but I think there are some legitimate concerns about Brady as he moves into the twilight of his career.

Of course, I have no idea where along the spectrum between "airing concerns" and "throwing Brady under the bus" the Globe's coverage has fallen.

The Wilbur one was just ridiculous because it was more of a rant than a column. Typically when a column like that is written it contains a lot more facts and reasons to support the argument he was trying to make, and it just sounded like a meanspirited diatribe written by an angry person.

The one on Mallet was just a "no one has written about it, so I guess I will" type of article which was honestly a great read and a good story about Mallet's first season as a pro. So I don't have a problem with that one.

its a media abomination just like espn. its filled with nothing but garbage. maz ryan shaughnessy. all these guys care about is how they are perceived by the national sports media. non of them have any balls.

I wouldn't say there are some "legitimate concerns" just yet. Those typically come when a quarterback starts consistently making bad throws repeatedly over the course of a season, and it's safe to say that overall Brady really doesn't do that.

As I wrote in another post, the biggest problem with last night's game was with Gronk injured, they needed a perfect game from everyone else offensively and they just didn't get it. They were outmanned against a Giant team that - I hate to say it - has a good quarterback who had a wide assortment of guys to throw to. Brady had Welker and Hernandez - and that was about it.

The guy has it all, hes handsome, has a super model wife, beautiful kidsThree SB rings, a couple of MVP's, SB MVP's, holds all kinds of records, has a big house fancy cars etc etc etc. people get envious, and they Know other people are envious too. Taking down Brady makes them feel better and they know there are many readers out there that would feel good when someone says Brady failed, It sells papers, gets hits on a web site. Now this will probably Never happen to the Manning brothers because they look like the average Joe, and dont' sport Super model wives, the average fan and writer can relate to them better.

How about consistently making bad decisions in the playoffs? I hate to say it I find myself more and more yelling at the TV the he is holding the ball to long and then just winging it down the field, kinda reminds me of the beginning of the end of Drew...

It would have helped if his WRs could get open more consistently and if his OC remembered that he had running backs on the team too. Just saying. Brady wasn't perfect. Neither was anyone else.

These rants are nothing more than a knee-jerk reaction to a devastating and disappointing loss, where the writers don't take the time to calm down from their letdown and let things simmer before writing a piece. These articles just end up being mostly emotion-driven worthless scrap that will be completely forgotten about in a few weeks. Just take a look at your own forums, there's plenty of examples here as well....people pointing fingers, screaming that the sky is falling, and general gloom and doom. It's normal. Take it from someone who knows a thing or two about Super Bowl losses. You should have seen the Steelers board last year. Time will pass, wounds will heal, and people will start having more realistic views on the outlook of the franchise soon.

Didn't read it...won't read it....BUT....aging, long legged, less than athletic, string beans that have 300 lb men launching at their knees. I suspect the decline to advance quicker than most people expect. Remember Marino's last years, the guy couldn't move at all. It's all about the legs, and Brady's wheels have never been an asset to begin with. BB needs to get a reliable running game going. Preserve Tom

They have the running backs, they just need an OC that KNOWS HOW to use a running game properly.

I was begging they to run the ball one the first play from scrimmage, of course there is plenty of blame to go around, but how much time can you expect the O line to hold up against that rush? Throw it away legally and come back to fight another down, there was only about 60 seconds that entire game he had to force a throw...

Who cares what the Globe thinks.

I would not trade Tom for any quarterback in the league at this point including Eli, his brother or Rogers. That does not change the fact that the most relevant difference in this SB was the quarterback play of Eli vs the quarterback play of Tom.

We just have to live with that. More importantly Tom has to live with that. In my opinion, Tom will need to be more cognizant of how much quarterback mistakes made and plays missed in these big games now just about govern their outcomes on a relative basis. If the other team's quarterback outplays Tom in those big games, in those big moments it is now very difficult to win.

For the record, I know there are some who like to rip publications and writers, etc. But overall we've seen an improvement in the quality of writers between the Herald and Globe compared to 5-6 years ago. They've got a pretty good group right now between the two.
