We'll be in New Orleans next season

The D allowed 19 points and it would have been 16 if we didn't let them score at the end. How much did the Giants score against the great, talented Packers defense with the amazing Clay Matthews? 37 points. How about San Fran, the best defense in the league? 17 points in regulation. What's your point again?
My point is that when they needed to come up with a big game ending stop at the end this defense got absolutely whipped. I don't even think they forced NY to convert a 3rd down on that drive nevermind a 4th. Plus Manning had plenty of time to throw for the majority of that game.

Simply because who can improve enough to get over the hump that is the New England Patriots in the AFC?

If we sort out the glaring needs this team has that the whole world can see that we need then no question we'll be there.

Who else can really stop us from getting there again?

Jets - Sancheese and Rex at the helm? Nuff said.

Ravens - getting older by the year and couldn't get past us when they were primed and Tom played his worst game.

Steelers - With a healthy Ben? maybe but again that D took a few steps back from the one that got to SB 45 and to get outplayed by Tebow is just mind boggling so i just can't see how that works.

Texans - might be the No.1 seed next year, stellar run game and when their QB is healthy with those receivers and that top class defense they'll be tough to beat.

Again all the pats have to do is address the needs by drafting properly this time round. Also make sure the cheque book is out in full effect this FA because there are some gems for the Pats that can all but book us a place in NO.

Whatever happened tonight we'll still be the cream of the crop in the AFC with this QB and this coach, just need a little bit of extra help because instead of asking a few guys on this team to be Batman for 60 minutes there are ALOT of Robin's we can get to push us over the line.
If you go back and look at history it just doesn't work that way. Ask GB, NO, Pitt just because you went one year very rarely correlates to going the next.

The chances don't bode well.

1. There has been a different Super Bowl champion for nearly a decade, and no team has been there back to back except the Patriots in 2004 and 2005.

2. I think the Ravens and Texans will put up a good fight especially the Ravens considering their window is rapidly closing.

However, the chances might bold well because of this-

Look at Kobe Bryant-

-3 Rings
-1 Finals Loss
-1 Finals Loss exactly 4 years later
-2 Rings

Then Tom

-3 Rings
-1 Super Bowl Loss
-1 Super Bowl Loss exactly 4 years later

I would love 2 more rings, but 1 would suffice.

I remember all the chatter about how Kobe and Phil couldn't do it without Shaq, Robert Horry, they were washed up, and when the Celtics beat them making it their 2nd Finals loss everyone said Kobe and Phil were done. Then they won 2 more rings.

It can happen.

This would be great, but I don't think the Pats can swindle a team for a Gasol-like player for nothing

If you do make it that far, I think it will end up being another loss. For Brady's sake, I hope you don't make it to NO next year. I'd be worried about that guy!

I did say it was gonna cost us but you have to make that move if you want it all.

Need a defense first, the Patriot D right now doesn't feel to me like it has identity.

I just made the New Orleans connection. Where it all began. How cool would that be for the Patriots to make to the Super Bowl, and win where the won their first Super Bowl (New Orleans)? It would be destiny. I'm still holding onto to my Kobe Bryant comparison. There are too many similarities for me to just shrug it off. Anything is possible.

sorry i had to respond to all this ravens are getting old (yeah im a ravens fan not a jerk like some others just a fan). this is the ravens defense with age
ladarius webb, number one corner, is under 25
jimmy smith, first rounder last year, is 22
cary williams, other starting corner, is under 26
bernard pollard, starting safety, is 27 years
ed reed, starting safety, is the only old person in the db's (you guys know that question mark secondary allowed the least td's this season with just 11 td's)
d line/linebackers:
haloti ngata is under 27 years
suggs is 29
Pernell Mcphee who was second on the team in sacks was a rookie last year
terrence cody, starting nose tackle, under 24years
paul kruger(is a hybrid like suggs), who split time with cory redding and had 8 sacks, is under 27 years.
ray lewis is as old as moses in the bible, nothing more to say
jameel mcclain, starting ilb, is under 27 years
sergio kindle, 2009 first pick, is under 25
offense:
flacco and rice are both under 28 years
yanda, grubbs and oher are all under 30 years
pitta and ed ****son are both under 24 years
torrey smith is under 26 years

The Texans with a healthy Matt Shaub and Mario Williams is pretty scary.
There is always a chance that some other team has a good offseason and breakthrough season.

We'll obviously be in the running though

Every year is a different team. There are no guarantees. This team has no Running game, and offense unnecessarily puts pressure on D, and besides Welker put these guys as WR's.

Slater
Price
Underwood
Ocho
Branch

As the addage goes, Defense still wins championships, and good Defenses can slow down or shutdown offenses......We've seen it from both sides, the early part of the decade when Pats dished it out on Colts and others, and the last 6 years we've seen where Pats have been in the receiving side of being shutdown.

Our teams the last 6 years have beem imbalanced and flawed. Furthermore, playcalling has beem moronic, andlastly little to no focus on drafting talent and developing.

It is what it is.......results since 2007 AFCCG speak for themselves.

we have a running game, we just dont use it enough. We need a couple of WRs and some athletes on D.

Good luck with that prediction....it was 4 years since our last visit to the big show. Expect another 4 years before they get back there again. Pats have squandered their opportunities
It is just so hard to make it there and TOO many teams are catching up. Additionally we have a TON of areas that need addressing.......going to be after Brady and BB are gone...
