Which of these 3 teams would you feel the most confident playing against in the up coming Super Bowl. Obviously we are playing the Giants and considering the other 2 teams have unstoppable offenses aren't we kind of lucky in a way to be playing the Giants?

How confident would you really be playing the Saints or the Packers? Everyone is pumping up the Giants like they are the most dominant team to ever walk the face of the earth, but in actuality they seemingly are much more beatable than the other 2 teams that are sitting home.

I watched the GB NY game and I watched the SF NY game and I gotta say they did go on the road and get by 2 very good football teams.. but at the same time they do not look like the unstoppable force the mediots are raving about. GB probably played their worst game of the season.. it looked like the play off jitters got to rogers and the team. And obviously we all know what happend in the SF game.. the Giants got the living crap kicked out of them but got 2 special team fumbles.

Honestly if the Patriots play their game I think they win by 10 or more points. I also have this gut feeling that all this love from the media is going to curse Elite and the Gmen and he is going to toss up a couple giveaways.

I had a similar though earlier today.

I remember at times this season I thought to myself I wouldn't even want the Pats in the SB since I "knew" that the Saints or the Packers would be there, and they'd embarass this defense. I guess I got my wish to not face them, so I should feel better.

I wanted to face the Saints actually. I thought the Pats matched up better with them than GB. I didn't care to face the Giants, but I guess we just have to beat them instead.

Anyone but Brees. I'm scared of him.

Hardest to easiest:

Green Bay
49ers
Saints
Giants.

Yes we have the easiest of the 4. We have the worst possible match-up as far as what it "means", image, perception.

Aside from the obvious ring and Super Bowl win....

Once again, we have everything to lose, nothing really to gain from it.
While they have everything to gain, nothing really to lose from it.

Patriots winning their 4th ring and getting their "revenge" is a nice story for those who wanna buy into it. Patriots winning their 4th ring against the most efficient quarterback in the NFL in 2011, against the toughest all around team in SF or arguably the only other team who can win football games despite - turnover margin...that would have meant much more to the Pats. And in a loss, it would mean nothing.

If we blow out the Giants, they still will get off the hook. "Oh well they still overachieved". That's going to be what everyone says.

This is a no brainer for me. The Giants are definitely the weakest of those 3 teams. Eli is a great QB. I just don't fear him like I do Rodgers or Brees. I do think a Pats vs GB or N.O. SB would've broke the SB scoring record. The scoreboard would've got broken. LOL!

The Saints were the most dangerous & best team in the playoffs.

If they hadn't turned it over 5 times, they would have rolled through the Giants easily, and would have been the toughest matchup by far for the Pats.

I always felt that a Packers/Pats SB would have gone to whoever had the ball last...

Pats would have taken advantage of Brees's extra turnovers. But I agree, with the way Rodgers was playing, we would have been the underdogs and it would have been that close.

I would have loved that for a change.

Call me crazy...but I would rather play the packers than the giants

We have the most to lose by playing the Giants, in terms of legacy and being remember. If you lose to a 15-1 Packers team that won the Super Bowl last year, well, they were a great team. If you lose to the Saints you have to deal with all the Brees > Brady talk, but in the end I think history would treat Brady better (unless Brees won at least one more). If you lose to the 49ers, then you'll hear about how defense beat offense in the end. However, if they lose to the Giants... *shudder*

OTOH, the Giants are by far the easiest match up. At first I was terrified of them, but the more I look at stats, game logs, play by plays, etc, the more confident I become. Even against the Packers, honestly, the Giants were good, but not scary good, and the Packers were baaaad. In reality the Giants really weren't moving the ball consistently, but they hit a few deep passes and got some good field position from turnovers. Against the 49ers they couldn't move the ball at all. The Patriots, otoh, moved the ball extremely well both games, and played very good and clutch defense. The Patriots made tons of mistakes against the Ravens and still won.

I'm not saying the Giants have no shot, as they can clearly can and did beat anyone, but the Patriots are rightfully the favorites, and I'm not sure they would be against some of the other teams.

Okay...... you're crazy. ;)

Look. The only reason I didn't want to face the Giants has nothing to do with actual football stuff. It's 2007... all the BS history and "they own us" crap that is not really real. Its in my heart, but not my head.

Get right down to the X's and O's........ I'd be sh!tting stones right now if we had the face either NO or GB....... Less so San Fran....... but they were pretty formidable as well.

The Giants do not compare to any of those teams talent wise and all schooled them in the regular season. Sure, the Giant had to go through GB and SF to get here, but those teams did as much to lose those games as the Giants did to win them.

While I'll probably give up the sport is we lose this one I'll be so heartbroken, as far as a football match-up..... this was the best outcome we could've hoped for.

Like throwing darts at a dartboard: All three are very good, well-coached teams. However, by a nose I'd go with the Giants due to their better balance on each side of the ball.

Top 4 potential NFC opponents, in order of preference:

49ers
Giants
Saints
Packers

The team I was most scared of was the Saints by far, horrible match up for us. Brees would have complete 80% of his passes.

My order of most confident to play to least confident to play going into the Divisional weekend was:

1) SF
2) NYG
3) GB
4) NO

I was very happy when SF and NY got rid of GB and NO since those 2 teams genuinely scared me. I would have rather played SF, but NY doesn't scare me even remotely as much as those other 2 teams.

+1

For me it would go:

1. Saints are toughest
2. Giants
3. Packers

Packers were so banged up at OL and couldn't block a flea. Then when Driver went down, Rodgers seemed to lose it. Their defense was exposed all year.

Saints are the most well balanced team of the 3 and Brees is lethal, but hey--turnovers kill you.

Wanted no part of greenbay or new Orleans

Same. Was very afraid of NO and GB. Sure, the NYG are scary too - but I was just way more fearful of the other two. I would feel the same way about SF as I do the Giants : nervous, but not nearly as much as the two others.

All being equal and Gronk 85% effective I just think we match up better with the Giants than the Saints or GB. Its hard to say what would have happend with San Fran.. I honestly don't know. That San Fran defense is incredibly good.

I just think if we make no mistakes and the Giants don't make any mistakes we win the game. Chances are someone is going to cough it up or throw a pic I just hope its not us.

I think you're right. The Gmen are the better match up.
