Andrew Luck tops pre-Super Bowl NFL mock draft - Don Banks - SI.com

OK I only looked at this to laugh because I think he's clueless about the draft and pretty much reads draft guides and takes his best shot and has no scouting skills. Second no way they both last to 27 and 32 like this but wow would that be a heist.

New England Patriots (from New Orleans)
Michael Brockers, DT, LSU.
The Patriots need more talent in their defensive front seven, and they love interchangeable players who can play anywhere on the defensive line. Brockers is capable of penetrating the backfield and creating some havoc against both the pass and the run.

Dont'a Hightower, LB, Alabama.
Again, the Patriots need more playmakers in their defensive front seven, and we know Bill Belichick tends to trust players who have been coached by either Nick Saban or Urban Meyer.

I would love that first round. We seem to be getting mocked Brookers a lot...

This time last year, Aldon Smith was available at 17 and JJ Watt was available at 28 in mocks. It will be similar with both Brockers and Hightower. The RS Sophomore will end up top 10 and the junior will end up top 15.

Well actually I don't "like" what Sciz posted, its just that its probably true. ;)

This would be a great first round. But once teams look at the film of Brockers, he is going to skyrocket up draft boards. Could go as high as #9 to Carolina, although I think Carolina would be better off with Still plugging the run defense in the middle.

I think teams are waiting to see Hightower run before really zoning in on him. If he runs well, he will also climb some draft boards.

PS: If Brockers falls to#16, is he worth trading #32 and #48 to go get? Remember he is not a day 1 starter, but by year three, he projects to be a beast similar to Seymour.

This is very true and happens every year. Also as teams watch more tape closer to draft day, I expect the UNC kids to slide as the others climb draft boards.

Some players currently ranked in the mid to late 30's are going to rise and those will be in the late 20's come draft day.

Probably true but except for Barron and Dennard none of the picks before ours are terrible picks. It's a fairly deep first round this year and whether it's these two or two others, we should have a shot at two good players with these picks even though we'll likely trade one.

I we Do pick #32nd, i won't care if Brockers and Hightower are gone.

I don't think they would. With the rookie salary cap you can't even look for a cheap team like Tampa, Jax or Cincy taking a below value deal just to save money.

I agree with all the commnets that these guys are likely to sky rocket up the board.

Rang has Brockers at 11 and Cox at 24. However Branch and Hightower aren't in his top 32. So if two of Cox, Hightower and Branch made it to 27 and 32 that would be a pretty good heist.

Yep, players usually identified as board binkies are usually gone when they pick.I do like the depth in the first forty picks though and think they will have really good prospects on the board when they pick.

Brockers is a wild-card: huge, disruptive, but he only played for one full season alongside other huge, disruptive players.

Hightower is a beast, but I think getting a pure pass rusher is a higher necessity. Depth is important, and the ILB position isn't one in which the team is lacking. That said, I guess you can move him around. Which is a pitty, because he's a great sideline-to-sideline tackler and very good in coverage.

Now, it's IMPOSSIBLE both of them will be available by the time the Pats pick. Especially since Brockers is being hyped like hell. I see

I think Brockers will be a perennial All Pro. He wont last to our pick.

But, I think Hightower is not a legit first rounder. I think he'll run slow, but more to the point on film he looks stiff in space. I would maybe contemplate him in the mid-late 2nd.

My thoughts exactly....... which means BB trades down from 27 and takes a CB, then trades down again from 31 0r 32 for a 1st next and someones 3rd rounder this year......

Alas, it IS nice to dream of a beastly new front D-line though.....
