Re: NESN: Tuck, Umenyiora - Brady's a Pretty Boy whose chuckle cost them the last tim

1) Mike Carrey didn't blow the whistle when Eli was CLEARLY in the grasp. That allowed Manning to chuck the ball down field and Tyree to make the amazing catch..

Biggest Bull**** no call in NFL history. And even moreso the holding that was going on. There was like 2 or 3 Pats players that could have had a sack had they not been held. And at the other end, not only did RH not knock the ball away but I think where he put his hand, he actually helped Tyree catch it (not on purpose obviously).

The game may as well have been over after that play. It was obvious at that point, the planets were aligning in such a way that it was going to end very badly for the Pats that night.

I hope he's not the official of this game or the Pats might as well stay home. HE SUCKS.

Every time ive seen that play with manning in the grasp i think the its over, hes in the grasp. i think the players down field watching may have felt the same way and may have let up a little allowing the pass to be completed. A truly sickening non call because most likely it caused the Defense to relax for a fraction of a second. Ive never read or heard anyone in the pats defenders comment on this so i don't know for sure.

Finally you folks get to see the resentment us good looking guys face every day
I hear ya.

Re: NESN: Tuck, Umenyiora - Brady's a Pretty Boy whose chuckle cost them the last tim

I'm not conceding that any of the banter leading up to the game lead to the outcome...BUT I was struck by the numerous unPatriot-like quotes that came out during the 2007 Super Bowl week. Pior to the 2007 Super Bowl we never heard the Patriots acknowledge their success, status or ever comment on their predicted competitiveness in a game. Brady's answer should have been that the Giants are a tough team and we have our work cut out for us yada yada. Part of me wonders if the Patriots coaching staff going into the 2007 Super Bowl preached to the team to have some swagger to counter-act at play to not not to lose attitude.

Re: NESN: Tuck, Umenyiora - Brady's a Pretty Boy whose chuckle cost them the last tim

So, basically, Brady should have said something along the lines of this: "Plax is totally right. The Giants are the far better team and they're going to completely shut us down. We have no chance against their defense and pass rush"?

Re: NESN: Tuck, Umenyiora - Brady's a Pretty Boy whose chuckle cost them the last tim

I for one blame the loss on the chuckling of one John Tomase.

Re: NESN: Tuck, Umenyiora - Brady's a Pretty Boy whose chuckle cost them the last tim

My father's best friend said that the only reason why the patriots lost was because Brady was in NYC going to Giselle's house a week before the superbowl. I think what he said is BS. I always ask him if its ok to go and see your girl and get a little action? It just so happened that Giselle lived in NYC.

If they we playing not to lose in 07, why did they go for it on 4th and a mile when they could have attempted a long FG (and it's really not that difficult for Ghost in a dome)?

This play will be forever debated of course, but I guess we'll have to assume that Belichick felt at the time that it was a 50/50 risk, and that maybe Gostkowski couldn't make it.

While it seems easy to believe that he would've made it, it also seems strange that BB would've chosen a long 4th down attempt over the potential FG..

He must've had some kind of knowledge or feeling prior to the game in regards to Gostkowski's range, at least that's what I would assume.

It's hard to project what the inner workings were here, but this play will certainly go down in Patsfans history as one of those "wtf" moments.

I don't think it had much to do with Brady going to NYC to see Giselle. At all..

It had to do with them making more plays than us on the last drive.

Just that last drive alone included a once-in-a-lifetime helmet catch that will never be replicated, a ref who claims that he "started to blow the whistle" for Jarvis Green's in the grasp sack, a series of dropped INT's (some harder than others), a questionable blitz call leaving Ellis Hobbs alone against a much taller Burress, and a long 3rd and 16 conversion....

It was really all about the last drive. Some other considerations could be the inability of the OC McDaniels to adjust at halftime, the loss of Stephen Neal at RG, and the inability to properly rush the ball and protect the passer. But the whole entire game was pretty much decided on the final drive of the game.

I would say that you may not want to take your dad's friend's advice any more when it comes to calling football games....;)

I remember the Giants talking a lot of **** also. Besides Plax started it with the prediction. Didn't someone in the Giants front office also promise a win? They like to talk **** but don't like it thrown back at em.

Logan, Matt, Dan, Seabass, Nate, Brian, Gronk.

KILL.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Especially, Mankins.

He's going to kick some ass in this game.

That is a good thing going into this one.
