OT: Jim Irsay calls Peyton a politician

The more I learn about utterly inept and low-class that organization is, the more I think they should just make a separate "Peyton Manning" category when ranking the best of all-time. Not saying he should rank better or worse than Brady, just saying that comparing his situation to a lot others like Brady, Montana, and Elway is just pointless. Those teams weren't run by circus clown.

I wont believe a word until i see it posted on twitter by Rob Lowe

It makes you wonder if someday the Patriots and Tom Brady will suffer a nasty split.

I can't imagine one even as bad as Patriots/Bledsoe. It would be more like "I think the world of Bill Belichick, but even he isn't right 100% of the time, and by the way I hope to kick the stuffing out of the Patriots twice per season for the next five years."

Manning's always carried himself with class and respect.

Indeed. The occasional times he called out his OL or something turned out NOT to be the tip of a finger-pointing iceberg. And that was the only classless kind of thing he was ever seriously suspected of.

Peyton isn't even under the same suspicion Eli is for having let his father be a jerk on his behalf.

So you're willing to paint a career picture based on a couple of things across a decade plus career? That's your prerogative, not mine.

Jim Irsay calls Peyton Manning 'a politician'

Where do you start with Irsay? He tells Peyton Manning to keep it in house, meanwhile he post on twitter like a 16 year old girl. Seriously, how does an NFL owner tweet as much as he does? I would think that someone that important has so many things to do that he wouldn't have the time. He responds to Manning to keep it "in the family" via the MEDIA. The guy is a joke of an owner and they don't ever deserve to win anything again. His father was damaged as well.

Manning in my opinion was just explaining he understood the business aspect and how sad he was for the people that were no longer around. Strength & conditioning coaches etc. He explicitly stated that he wasn't trying to campaign to fans and wanted ultimately to remain a colt. But If that couldn't happen to keep things clean. How do you disrespect Peyton by calling him out of his name in the media? It's a joke, I couldn't imagine Mr. Kraft saying these things about Brady. Ever.

You would probably be out of Indy without 18
You are about to host a SB in Indy because of 18.
You are playing in a brand new stadium with publicly funded money because of 18
You were able to be so terrible at drafting talent and still post winning seasons because 18 covered up alot of your mistakes.

Thank god for Bob Kraft.
Last week i watched the dolts new GM meet the media to talk about the firing of Caldwell, the Dolts are Done. I don't think the Pats will have to worry about Indy for a Looong time.

On the next job of resolving the Peyton Manning situation

"I think there's much more than that. This is a football team it's about many issues that you have to get right. Obviously I think that question kind of vague, it's always been a very simple issue, and that's been a health issue. That's the part that I focus on. I have so much affection and appreciation for Peyton. We're family, we always will be and we are. He's a politician. When it comes to being competitive let's just say on a scale of one to ten, ten being the highest we're both 11's. There have been plenty of egg shells around this building scattered by him with his competitive desires to win. If someone's in the circle they have to go and all those sorts of things. I don't think it's in the good interest to paint the horseshoe in a negative light; I really don't.

There's a lot more to it (click on the link above) but that to me is kind of a head-scratcher of an opening statement. It certainly did absolutely nothing to defuse all the rumors that have been circulating; instead it had just the opposite effect.

brady will retire a patriot at his leisure, as he should. kraft is never going to let him walk, ever. he'll hang it up when he wants, i mean i know its a business but i just dont see Bob Kraft being cool with brady in anything other than a patriots jersey ever

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. I can't think of another player whom has advanced the stature of a city and organization as far as sports is concerned in the modern era. A few examples could be:

Lebron in Cleveland
Gretzky in Edmonton
Brees/Payton in New Orleans

How would Brady (and BB for that matter) not be on your list?
Before him (them) the Patriots had a far worse franchise history than the Colts, and with hoim (them) have had a far greater amount of success than Manning and the Colts have had.

Because I was listing cities that didn't already have a rich sports tradition not just that particular franchise. Boston was considered a great sports town before BB and Brady went there I believe. But as far as the NEP are concerned there isn't a question, this is the golden era of the Patriot franchise.

Places like edmonton, cleveland and Indy are pretty bad when it comes to sports tradition in general and non existent when it comes to winning. The colts success with Unitas all happened in Ballmore. The colts could very possibly have been relocated if it weren't for manning. The only thing Indiana was famous for was Bob Knight, Reggie Miller and being the birthplace of Larry legend. It's only sports export was basketball and the Pro team never even won anything.

The more I stand back and watch the season and the actions of the Colts organization. The more respect I have for Peyton Manning.

Remember before the 2010 season, when Brady and Manning still hadn't signed a new contract? There was all this talk about strained relationships between Brady and the Pats. Meanwhile out in Indy the Colts and Manning were going to dance happily amid the rainbows on their little unicorns in their own little eden on their way to nothing but sweet ever-after happiness. So, yeah, there's some satisfaction seeing what's happening there now.

Yeah, where is Michael Silver? Such a schmuck.

Edmonton has a rich winning tradition. I know the CFL doesn't mean a thing for Americans, but for us Canadians, it is a big deal especially out west. Edmonton was nick-named the city of champions because of the Eskimos BEFORE Gretzky arrived in Edmonton in 1978.

It wasn't so much The Forehead who gave Irksay his ring, as much as it was the awful zebras,
the man who turned up the heat & crowd noise, and Rex GrossMan.

PayMeATon, his brother & their dad can all still suck it.

I agree with you.

If it were not for Irsay, getting all the rules changed, Manning wouldn't even have a ring either.

I think Manning will remain a Colt and all of this stuff coming out between the two is just a way to keep themselves relevant in the news.

I haven't really been following the situation, but if Manning said anything about the organization, then Irsay's right, he does need to keep it in house. When Brady was waiting for his deal or waiting to see if the Pats were gonna stick with Cassel after his knee injury, I don't remember him once, releasing a statement about his situation with the organization. He knew better, he had more respect for his owner. I don't think Brady gets enough credit for the way he handles things, especially with all the BS he has to go through from media to fans not appreciating what he does.

Manning got paid millions, that could've went somewhere useful, to stand on the sidelines or watch games from home and you wanna call that classy? A classier person, who actually cares for the organization and not how much more money he can make, would tell them to keep their bonus, because the cash he got for a season he didn't play is sorta bonus enough. At least I would think so.

I'm not really trying to defend Irsay, but the team is gonna suck with or without Manning, he's on the wrong side of 30 and he's gotta bad neck and just started throwing the football a few months ago. They'd do just as good bringing Favre out of retirement. It's bad either way you look at it.

But calling Manning 'classy' is a slap in the face to people with actual class.

Gee. What a classy post.

Even though it hasn't been reported, I believe Irsay and Maning already had the "will you please push back your roster bonus to give us more time?" discussion to which Peyton Manning, who never saw a dollar sign he didn't like, said "uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no."

So Irsay, who has been a spoiled brat just about all his life, is throwing a little temper tantrum. I think Manning has pretty much been taking the high road. Of course, he won't be the one with the pubic relations problem when he gets cut and becomes a UFA. He actually gets to play the part of the victim.

I am left speechless in the figuritive sense, by ill spoken, almost illiterate words of an NFL owner spewing disrespect for a player who essentially built his house, a player who has stalked the stadiums of the league for better than a decade, winning fantastical victories wearing the colors and insignia of that owner's team. What a douche bag.

So you believe an athlete should still cash in on 28 million dollars even though they didn't play one snap?

I understand worker's comp, but 28 million dollars? A true team player right there.

If Payton really gave a crap about the Colts he'd take a cut, a re-structured contract, allow the Colts to pay for his injury and medical expenses and free up the money so his franchise could move forward.

Isray's primary job is to worry about his team. Not Peyton.
