Deion Branch - Re-sign?

What if branch retires or does not get re signed?

And about ocho, think he would take the vet min and restructure his contract since he loves it here?

I could see loyd getting signed to 2nd tier wr money (he lost leverage saying he wants to follow josh) , resign welker, and restructure chad's contract.

For the right price, absolutely. The last wide receiver BB drafted as good as Deion Branch? ...Deion Branch.

I'm completely ambivalent on the question of retention, but if he does stay, he should be no higher than a #3 and preferably probably around a #4.

If he's good on his promise of the Offense turning up and performing at the Superbowl. He can take my first born daughter.

I think we resign him. I think he probably gets an incentive laden extra 2 years.

He can still probably give the pats 600-700 yards next year.

bitvhing about his contract 06 aside. He seems a high quality guy.

Our top 3 receivers are Welker, Gronkowski and Hernandez. I would expect the same in 2012. Edelman will be back as the #6 or #7 target (in addition to his other roles).

The open question is how to use the other wide receiver positions.

Obviously, many here are unhappy with our 2010 and 2011 passing game and are looking for serious upgrades.

I think he and Faulk will retire after they get one more ring.

I actually hope so. I don't want to see either of them in another uniform, but I also don't want to see either of them in a Patriots uniform either. They both have very little left in the tank at this point, and I think they both know it.

Put a WR who can not only Strectch the Defense but can also Catch and this Offense would be as Elite as the Saints. We want our Offense to threaten the entire Field. Hope Branch gets a ring this year but after the SB bye-bye and dont let the door hit ya where the Dog shoulda bit ya!;)

Sorry, but I wouldn't sign him. He's too small, too slow, and his exceptional quickness in and out of his breaks has diminished. He should win the super bowl and ride off into the sunset with Kevin. If he doesn't I offer him a vet minimum contract and work very hard to replace him.

I question whether we'll spend the money it would take to sign Lloyd as a FA AND pay Welker the $8MM/yr its gonna take to resign him. So if Ocho was willing to take a $1-2MM salary to actually contribute to a superbowl run, I'd bring him back

If not, like its be said before, this is a premium year for WRs, both in FA and in the draft. If you had to find replacements for Ocho and Branch, this would be the year to do it. With a start of Gronk, Hernandez, Welker and and Edelman as the WR utility man, all you are looking for are the 4th and 5th options as receivers.

I cant believe some people are high on Branch here.Yes he has been a trooper and has maded some plays here and there but he hardly contributes as most think. The wr position on the outside is non-existent on this offense.Chad has been a major bust.Resign Welker and get a decent free agent wr and draft one as well.

I like branch and everything he's done for the pats but lately he looks done.

if the money is right why not bring im in for camp....one step at time and complete....after all he his Brady's guy

To me it is pretty simple math. You have 3 guys that should be back next year Edelman, Welker and Branch that allows you to bring in a Vet like LLoyd and a Rookie. Branch comes back as key insurance against the rook and/or vet not getting it. One could also try and argue that Edelman should try to convert to D but I am not going there until the offseason

Just think about this years team with Branch taking on the Chad role and a better option as WR2.

Clearly we should not pay alot for Deion but if wants back and is resonable it is a no brainer.

Branch is the perfect 3rd WR and IMO will be back on a 1-year, team friendly contract. I can't even fathom him making this be about money again.

Guy decided to jump off the camel halfway through the journey (probably costing himself and the Pats another ring), wandered in the desert for years and was saved when the father welcomed the prodigal son home. Now he is back and drinking in the oasis.

Does anybody think he's going to look out at the sand and decide he wants to try it again?

I'm very biased here, but HELL YES, and I believe he will in fact be back.

I vote yes to resigning him, near the vet min.

I don't think there's any real market for Branch -- he may get offers outside NE, but I doubt he'd make more than the minimum since he's now old, he's clearly lost a couple of steps, is injury prone, and has not had succcess during the prime of his career when someone other than Brady was throwing to him.

resign branch, draft a wr , resign welker, and sign brandon lloyd

deion branch knows he is more valuable to the pats then anybody else and he wants to be here ...

Welker 122 REC - 1,569 YDS - 12.9 YPC - 9 TD
Gronkowski 90 REC - 1,327 YDS - 14.7 YPC - 17 TD
Hernandez 79 REC - 910 YDS - 11.5 YPC - 7 TD
Branch 51 REC - 702 YDS - 13.8 YPC - 5 TD

Edelman and Ochocinco are far behind these guys. Of course, as has been pointed out, Branch definitely had a lot less production down the stretch. But his numbers are decent. I'm not sure how anyone would expect him to get more looks when you have Welker, Gronk, and Hernandez ahead of him. In any event, I think he's work bringing back. If the Pats sign Lloyd and draft a decent receiver, Branch will still have a place on the team, albeit in a diminished role (#5 or #6 receiver) on the field.

he's no longer a strong #2, but will be a good serviceable number 3. welker, gronk, and hernandez are your top three targets, lloyd hopefully becomes the #2 field-stretching wr that the team needs, and branch plays a reduced (but important) role as the #3.

that would be a great line up. whether they could afford both welker and lloyd is the question.

The Patriots have a need for a 1A vertical receiving threat who can blow the top off of the coverage for Welker, Gronkowski and Hernandez. Imagine giving these three even MORE space to operate within.

In a perfect world the Patriots would be capable of signing Jonathan Stewart and whichever stud receiver of their choice.
