So...What's your gut feeling on the Super Bowl?

I actually have none. I don't think either team really has an edge that isn't countered by the other team somewhere else. This in my mind is a true 50/50 game. It's all about match ups and we will just have to see how that unfolds.

I think the Gisnts defense isn't as strong as everyone fears/believes. It's not the same unit as 2007 and our Offensive line is definitely solid. Vollmer may be back, but not sure how that translates into game speed. more options with solder as blocking TE?

I think the turf benefits our shifty receivers, but we have to keep cruz in check. Though the Giants are good on Offenese and can certainly win with a balanced game.

We need to play with what the defense gives us. If that means run, then run. I think withthe ssurface and our weapons, we'll be a handleful for the defense. Likewise for the Giants against ours. It comes down to execution and capitalizing on mistakes (which includes getting 3rd down stops for the D and sustained drives for the O)

I predict the Patritots win 56-3. But your probably already knew that.

I feel like we are under dogs, and I think by game time the spread will be nill or in the giants favor. Everyone in the media is playing up the Giants power, versus the weakness of New England.

I think this is our least talented Super Bowl team ever... Even with the weapons, and the O-line.

We are 1 un-blockable D-Line away from all of our strengths from being negated. This is what the Giants did last time, and this year as well. When Brady doesn't have time, our Talent can't make plays.

On Defense, we have been playing better, but that 3rd quarter was still heartbreaking watching our defense give up 3rd down after 3rd down... It was tough to feel confident we were going to win that game.

Eli, and the Giants will not break in the super bowl... Like in the first one, it's going to be a knock down fight no matter what happens. I think the Giants D-Line is nasty, and we will need to ensure we have an answer.

I think we need to Run the Ball, and be successful with it.

I am nervous as hell, I feel like all the momentum is in favor of the Giants, I hope lots of good bulitien board material is posted, and I hope someone develops a chip on their shoulder and the Pats come out and shock the world...

Damn... It's a game, and I feel real stress...

My gut feeling is we can't lose three in a row and two Superbowls to the Giants. The 9-7 Giants who were waxed twice by the Redskins.(yes, I know it's 0-0 now!)

Problem is my head says this is going to be one tall order.

My gut feeling right now is that we should be favored, but the Giants match up better against us than we do against them. As of today, I'm feeling that we'd be very fortunate to win this game, but that will probably change a number of times as we approach the game.

I disagree wihtthat statement. We have a much much better and now deeper offensive line to offset the Giants Defensive line. The Giants base their entire defesne off their line. their LBs ar ent dominat; nor is their secondary personnel awesomely talented.

Unlike 2007 or even earlier this year our Offensive line is much better and far deeper. Hochstein was our prime reserve in 2007 and he was hurt and limping from the previous game. When Neal got hurt early, there was nobodyt to take hisi place, adeqautely.

Earlier this year when Vollmer had problems, Solder was a very raw rookie. Cannon was still on PUP and Connoly and Wendell inexperienced. Now all are more experienced, and Vollmer is getting close to returning too. I four Offesnive lien neutralizes the Giants pass rush we willwin going away.

Given time, Brady and the Pats will pick apart that Giants very average talented defensive secondary and linebacking. This year we can run; and they cannot. Witness their 89 yards per game rushing.

Unlike Rothelesberger or Flacco who imitated him this last game, Eli will go down when tackled. Flacco should have gone down 7 times, but he still got the ball way 4 times despite Pats rushers hanging on him. Three times Flacco couldn't get away.

The Pats are averaging 37.5 points and giving up 18.3 points per game teh last 9 games. And 34.5 in the playoffs while the defense is yielding 15 points per game.

That is my pick for a Superbowl score 34 -15. :snob:;)

I can't figure the New York Giants out. I can't decide if they are lucky, opportunistic, formidable, weak, overrated, underrated or what. They seem to be a postseason-built team that peaks at the right time. Frankly, I'm prepared for just about anything and I think I'm going to refrain from making ANY predictions about this game, other than saying it's going to be a close seat-squirming game which could be decided by one or two plays (gulp).

I think the Pats win....I just am tired of those 3 point SB games win or lose.

I want to see one of those games that are won by the end of the 3rd quarter ....as long as the Pats are on top, that is

This season was dedicated to Myra and I always thought the whole season that if the Pats were to get this far and into the Super Bowl they were NEVER going to lose it for the love and soul of a wonderful giving woman.

That motivating painting of the players holding thier hands up to the heavens with MHK will be in that Indy locker room...I assure you

My gut feeling is not very good, cause the giants are my nightmare in the superbowl again. yet i think my bad gut feeling is cause of the salami i eat today so im not very sure...

Gut feelings.....

That Giants defense is the best at doing what hurts us most, which is getting pressure with four. If they start taking our lunch money like they did in TGTSNBM, then it's all over....

The Giants secondary is better than the stats say, especially in the Playoffs, all their guys can cover, which is amplified if their front four dominates.....

Their offense scares the crap out of me because Eli is terrific in the big games, the pressure doesn't get to him mentally....

Cruz and Nicks have the ability to have 150 yards and two TD's each, and Ballard is great at finding those soft spots underneath - that spells trouble.....

I don't trust this team, especially Brady, to not think of what happened four years ago. I fear a huge mental block, and Brady's been rusty the last month or so, bar the Broncos game.....

Overall, I think the Giants win, maybe by 10-13 points. I think they'll get ahead early which will force us to play catchup. And Brady has another clunker.

Sorry to be so negative chaps....

Giving BB 2 weeks to prepare worked out pretty well recently:D

The boys will be ready, of this I am 100% sure. They'll be as ready as BB can get them, off the field as well. BB's track record of keeping the "never been there befores" focused on the game and away from the Hype, has been pretty good thus far so this is good.

They're also not the 18-0 gassed and bruised 07 team either (ohgod at least not that we really know of:eek:), and maybe I'm a homer or whatever but I see the 07 team and this team as 2 almost completely different teams I guess.

The Giants will be ready too though and they, of all the teams, scare me the most because I think they're a good team and capable of beating anybody on any given Sunday. My head tells me that but my gut tells me the Pats win it all, I've felt that way for awhile now though, I confess:p

Some thoughts:

1) Still too drained by yesterday's game to be feeling much of anything in my gut but residual indigestion.

2) The Colts have to be berserk that it's the Pats, who, as the "Home" team, will use the Colts' lockerroom. BB should sweep for bugs.

3) I hope Brady "sucked" yesterday because he had a bad day and not because of his shoulder.

4) Did Edelmann run the wrong route on TB's first pick? In the tape, Tommy seems to be shouting "Oh come on Jules" after the play.

5) Is Gronk OK after his brush with injury?

6) We need Vollmer back. RT was a swinging door yesterday.

7) I hope Ocho is able to play; I just have a feeling about that...

8) Maybe the Pats have a small advantage because they've played at Lucas a couple of times?

9) I'd bet a bundle that Tyree will be an honorary Giant captain. Be ready to deal with that.

Gut reaction?

We lose another heartbreaker, right at the end, just like last time.

God I hope I'm wrong. We need to rid ourselves of the SB42 ghosts.

While the Giants as a whole are the ONE team I would have chosen not to play given a choice.......

I still feel VERY GOOD about our chances. In fact, I'm confident we get this done. I'm typically not the superstitious type and this might sound a little silly........ but I get the sense that Myra's guiding hand is helping out from somewhere beyond.

Just TOO many things have gone our way to just say it's the hands of fate.

  • We take advantage of a "soft" schedule and get HFA through the playoffs and a much needed bye.
  • Along the way, we beat Indy (prolly our longest, deepest rival in the BB/TB ear) and the Jets (x2), who handed us prolly one of our biggest (top-5 for sure) post-season losses ever last year.
  • We have a defense, that while playing much better lately is one that have given us ALL fits all year long and is suspect.
  • We draw a cheesy HS offense and overall weak opponent in the first round and we kill them rather easily. Of course it happens to be a team that handed us a huge post season loss in 05 too.
  • We get a second chance at a Ravens team that devastatingly ended or 09 season in what could be termed another top-5 heartbreaker losses
  • In that game, almost NOTHING goes our way and we have zero momentum to carry us to a OT win, when their kicker goes Ray Finkle on us and virtually HANDS us the win outright. Think about it...... when ranking high percentage points scoring plays, a 32 yrd FG is very high on that list. We could go 20 years and not see another shanked 32 yarder to outright lose a playoff game.
  • On the other side of the Conference an average team gets "hot" after a mediocre year and makes it to a Super Bowl that probably 3-4 other teams in that conference are prolly more deserving of. Oh yeah........ it happens to be the EXACT same team that handed us our MOST DEVASTATING loss in franchise history that got into that game in the EXACT SAME fashion.

Think about it....... You rarely get opportunities in your life to "go back" and redo something that you have regretted in life. This Patriots team has that opportunity RIGHT NOW. It's a gift that WILL NOT be lost on the Greatest Coach that has ever roamed the sidelines and the greatest QB to have ever picked up the pigskin.......

No way we lose this game.......... and I don't give a fu(k who the "matchups" favor.

If it's not Myra herself guiding the "hands of football fate" in our favor, then she certainly is bending the ear of the one that does. :)

I will enjoy ever minute of this next two weeks and I hope that all of you do too.

Fantastic post. Quoted because everyone needs to read it. You've given me a new hope.

Still don't care, just happy they made it this far. My feelings might change come game time, but win or lose I have really enjoyed this season and am grateful the team I love is even in position to win a Super Bowl. It's like a 2001 feeling all over again.

Cautiously optimistic about the game. If we can keep it close for 3 quarters I think we can do what the Giants did to us in 07 and pull off a last minute win.

My gut feeling is that somewhere in a 3rd world country, far away, poor children are eagerly anticipating their Giants Superbowl Champs t-shirts.

Would this be a Karmatic response to all the children in third world countries wearing Patriots SB Hats in '07.

I truely feel that Pats will complete their mission. They are coming together at'da right time. Brady will be MUCH better than yesterday and "D" is much better than most give them credit for. We NEED a pass rush not neccessarily all sacks but hit & hurry ups on Eli will cause some turnovers. Our Rush D is SOLID! Wilfolk will be a beast along with Spikes.
mission complete : MHK

I'm getting tired of the Brady won't have 2 stinkers in a row talk. When you play the elite defenses, you aren't going to light it up. I see a very similar game as the Ravens game for the SB.

Right now my gut feeling is that i'm not confident at all and I think we will lose. Way to be optimistic, I know.
