Even Now, Rust Never Sleeps: Pats Move for Post-Hoyer-Era

I don't think Hartline is gonna make it out of the preseason.

Teams with half a brain looking for QB's who have learned under future HOFers would be wise to make a run at Flynn and Hoyer.

I'd rather have his brother. We could have an offense made up of only tiny white guys if we could get Ventrone to play offense.

Reason????

Jonathan Crompton - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
On January 18, 2011, the Patriots re-signed Crompton to a future contract for the 2011 season. On August 1, he was waived.

Jeff Rowe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rowe was signed to the New England Patriots practice squad on December 9, 2009. He was re-signed to a future contract on January 12, 2010. He was waived by the Patriots on May 21, 2010.

And I'm sure many more who we don't remember.

Reason????

Just a glance at his college & NFL stats....Couldn't find highlights.

That works too

If the coach is as smart as I think he is, he will try to resign Hoyer.

We haven't showcased Hoyer enough for any team to desperately want him. However, he is an RFA after the season so I'm sure another team will at least want to bring him in if for nothing more than to motivate a complacent starter. As Patriots fans though we tend to get a bit ahead of ourselves and put a "THIS DUDES A STARTER!" stamp on our backup QBs.

Reason????

Players signed to futures contracts seldom do, least of all QB's signed to futures contracts. We've had a few of those wash through the system already, some don't even make it to camp.

Honestly, talk about feeding the kneejerk mentality.

No one's going to offer him $60M/6 yrs, but I'm sure there will be interest.

Like one of the Brady 6, Chris Redman, who was signed in January 2005 to a futures contract and gone by June after Bill decided there was just nothing left worth working with. Although he eventually caught on when Petrino was in Atlanta and has somehow remained there ever since. Beats selling insurance.

Sometimes its as simple as having extra arms for rookie and mini-camp. And possibly to work guys out pre and post draft. You're not going to put those throws on Brady's arm.

I've tried very hard to suppress my memories of most of his tenure here.

This image doesn't help. Sigh....... :(

Pre-Internet, my ability to follow the team was quite limited, but my main association was a happy one - the day he, as DC, and his charges just managed to contain a Colts team led by the seemingly-unstoppable Eric ****erson. Trying to find info on that game to refresh my memory...

I thought the same thing when they signed monty biesel. That didn't work out though. Not every move they make is that of a chess master apparently.

Hmm, I wonder who has a complacent starter...

Time for another "border skirmish"? :D

When Brady was drafted NE carried 4 QBs on the roster.

It wouldn't be shocking if NE held on to Hoyer, its not like its in the best interest of the team to let him go, unless Mallet has beaten out Hoyer for the backup QB spot, and even then its best to try and keep 3 QBs on the roster.

Look at the Titans, Bears, KC, and the Colts. Having depth at QB has an impact on the season. Throwing unexperienced players on the field can hinder a teams production.
