NFL Wild Card: Lions at Saints

Yikes, who was the team that held the Saints to 31? I really do not want the Pats play the Saints in Indy.

But that is looking way to far ahead. The Pats are likely going to have to face the Steelers and Ravens to get to Indy. Once again YIKES..

Ugh, no if, ands, or buts, the Pats are under dogs to win the SB..

Wow, those are some crazy points totals for the Saints at home..

Well anytime you go to the SB, you likely will have to play good teams to get there. It doesn't come easily. If any team could do it, NE can!

Everybody talks about how there is no defense and just high powered offenses that dominate the majority of games this season.

What no one really talks about is the lack of true Running games that also have been missing this season....the only way to slow and stop great offenses from pounding points on the scoreboard is to control that clock on your end if you have a runner capable of doing it.

As I look at these playoffs I see only Baltimore,San Francisco, the Giants and Denver as those types of teams that can take away your potent passing attack by making your offense sit on the sidelines.

IMO in reality only the Giants have the true ingredients to not only stop you with thier pass rush but also pound the ball and kill the clock and Eli can also beat you anytime.

The Giants are a team that GB,NO,SF does not want to face.....the thing that has handicapped the Giants all season was that secondary, otherwise they would be a top seed...thier secondary can be had if thier pass rush doesn't produce.

The Giants have the worst rushing game in football. Literally they are dead last. If they do have a playoff run in them its because of the pass rush and Victor Cruz/Manningham with big plays.

the texans have a damn good running game....

It is not that teams can't run. It has just been a year of passing.

If the Saints get by SF. They are not getting by GB in GB in the winter...

Has Drew Breezy ever won a game in the cold, or game that it was snowing in????

I think they beat Chicago at home, a few years ago.

Wait til a few years when they change the rule to you cant hit a reciever until after he catches the ball and takes a step. Thats where we are headed.

Isn't that the rule now?

Yeah, next week is going to have great games. We will see if offense will win out. NO/SF, Probably NE/Pitts and probably NY/GB. Honestly, if I had to pick one game, I would think the Saints would be on upset alert big time.

Other than the fact that they have to go fly to the west coast, I think the Saints blows them out too. I don't know if Alex Smith will be able to put enough points to get them the win.

it really depends on the weather. it supposed to be 60 degrees on Sunday in San Fran. Obviously that is perfect for the Saints.

i honestly don't think anyone can beat the saints, if they can get by Green bay they are going to win it all.

I don't agree - how many times did the Detroit db's drop sure interceptions last night? Brees makes mistakes and the SF/GB/NE db's make those plays.

but those teams don't necessarily have the pass rushing abilities that the lions have. in fact, they don't. the lions really didn't get to brees much last night even with Suh, etc.,, but when they did they were able to disrupt his rhytym a little bit and hence the interceptions.

The weather forecast for the NFC championship game is in the 20s, if it is going to be played in green bay. The giants could give the packers a run for their money given the close outcome of the last time they played. if it's giants-saints in the NFC championship game, it's over. saints win the NFC and a good chance to win the SB.

What's scary about the Saints O is that they run the ball and their receivers are tall. IMO they are the only NFC team capable of beating the Packers in GB.

so far, so much for defense wins championships....the saints superior offense was too much for detroits defense.

but, its their first playoff game...Stafford is the real deal. I think detroit will be a force to come for years in the NFC

New Orleans last 4 games at home:

49
31
45
45

Take the weapons they have and put them on turf, and it's like watching the 2001 Rams dismantling teams and making even excellent defenses look bad.

Yeah, Rams had a top flight defense too, so it's a wonder that team didn't just roll to a Lombardi...

What's scary about the Saints O is what the difference between Bush and Sproles has added to their arsenal.

That and their backs just don't go down. Pierre Thomas especially never goes down on the first hit. I would love to have their screen game.

Their problem is that force is going to be overly dependent on Megatron. When he's not the target Stafford will continue to struggle. And if they don't get Suh straightened out they are going to have to add some playmakers in their secondary.

Whats up with that look Sean Payton always has on his face? You know that thing he does with his lips?...weird.

Saints o-line got away with the most blatant holding I have ever seen on a televised NFL game.
