They are very fortunate that (a) nobody got hurt and (b) it didn't come in the middle of a play. Can you imagine? It'd be like one of those Buffalo Wild Wings commercials. Down 7 with 30 seconds to go, QB drops back, throws, ball is caught....as the defender tries to chase him down, the guy controlling the skycam loses it and it crashes on the defender, freeing up the receiver for a TD.

They really need to rethink those devices now completely. Personally, I *hate* the view it gives you when they use it for field goals. I have trouble seeing the ball as it is kicked when they use the skycam. I prefer the end zone view for those plays anyway.

Well, I'm a Syracuse grad, and the Carrier Dome roof has collapsed at least twice that I know of. And obviously the one in Minneapolis. So yeah....it's bound to happen.

People blaming it on technology etc are wrong.

This was a simple failure of the 1/4 inch cable's solid attachment on one end. A concept we had a solid grasp on 150 years ago. These things need frequent safety inspections.

May SkyCam go the way of Fox's NHL color changing puck and that NBA 45 degree camera angle NBC tried for a while.

Indeed, and mandatory replacement intervals, just because their failure could indeed injure players and/or fans.

Yabut the on-the-field first down line is with us forever, which is fine by me.

Also I personally like some of CBS's on-field graphics they put up, but maybe in a year or so I'll be sick of them.
