I love when he goes to Drew after and says something like "I TOLD YOU I'D WIN THAT ONE FOR YOU, I F***N TOLD YOU"

Anyone have that clip?

To be fair, he admitted he was wrong about a minute later.

I wasn`t into Football back then and did not know alot about the rules, so I remember thinking Brady was crap because he kept settling for fieldgoals instead of touchdowns or no points at all. I simply could not appreciate how amazing he was. I was rooting for the Pats just because they were the underdogs and liked their uniforms :D

Now, it gives me goose bumps and could watch it again and again:rocker:

haha...brady looked like he was makin' copies at the office.

rams were shellshocked.

Thanks for the clip, awesome. Never understood the logic of going into OT. You may lose the toss and never get the ball back or you could get the ball back at the 20?

Memories...I was in a crowded room too loud to hear him during the game. I almost couldn't believe it when I heard his comments later on. It's a no-brainer, whether it's the SB or a pre-season game, you try to kick the FG. I'll chock it up to verbal diarrhea.

The pass to Wiggie prior to the FG was an amazing call. They put it into make able range but also allowed for time to get the spike. They didn't get greedy going for it up the middle or try a deeper throw to the outside, they just executed. Perfect.

Yeah, I was sitting on the edge of the chair, literally, with my wife hollering at me to sit back and relax!

I could see how they were trying to set up the field goal attempt, and I could see how calm and collect TFB was.

BUT....... as a longtime Patriot's fan, I also knew how often we'd been left at the altar. How many times our games played out in the same way: Get ahead early, fall behind, rally late, fall short. Sigh.

YET..... hope springs eternal, and when the field goal was kicked, and the clock struck zero, I just sat there for a couple minutes, unable to grasp that this team, for whom I have worn the laundry most of my life, FINALLY won the big one!

After that, there was a pissed-off lady next door telling me to shut up as I was standing on my porch hollering like there was no tomorrow.

What a memorable game.

I always thought Madden made some sense. We forget, virtual rookie QB, 6th rounder, not far from being 4th on the depth chart that close to his own end zone. He just didn't realize how poised he was.

Situation like that is ripe for a sack, fumble, int or something. Risk/reward, he had a point. People forget that before he was the silly bombastic announcer, Madden was a damn good coach.

Hence the goosebumps. He just then realized what we still weren't sure we knew. I know i wasn't sure at that time.

did they film the SB with a toaster? I don't remember 2001 looking like that lol.

Always fun to watch that, I think we can all agree that it never ever ever ever ever gets old!

BTW, how freaking cool is it when Tom spikes the ball, extends his arm, and then catches the ball in like one awesome motion?

It was a small little act, but just felt like a great closing to a miraculous drive. a drive where a young kid who started the year on the bench, just marched his team down the field in such a cool, calm, and collected manner to win the Super Bowl!

Man it's so fun to go back and watch again, thanks for the trip down memory lane!

He didn't admit he was wrong. He sheepishly said he like what the Patriots were doing "now" - which is what they were doing from the first play.

Regardless, his first comment was valid.

i miss those days...god how happy i was...

C'mon... Madden made ZERO sense. It's the SB. If you send it to OT, you're HOPEFULLY faced with the same situation. Even us younger folk know he was a good coach back in the day, so the only way I can explain it is early onset Alzheimers.

What I remember from that day was a couple things. My baby girls was just under a year old, and I had taken her out in her stroller earlier in the day. I remember thinking to myself, why is it that every time the Patriots go to the Superbowl, they face a once in a decade juggernaught.

I was a poster on a forum at that time called "Mouth of Sports" sports I think it was. It was essentially the pre curser to kffl I think.

Anyway, the moderator of the Patiots board, a poster named Football had a kick ass post that day. The gist was that all our years of suffering where over. But it was a well thought out an put together post.

I so wish I had that post.

Actually would love to see the game thread for that superbowl from mouthoff

To be fair, he admitted he was wrong about a minute later.

He didn't admit he was wrong. He admitted he wouldn't have had the balls to do what they did which I think was a higher compliment.

Also in 2003 against the Panthers he also made a comment like 'I ABSOLUTELY 100% AGREE WITH WHAT THE PATRIOTS ARE DOING HERE' on the game-winning drive which was an obvious self-deprecating callback to what he said.

I still get jazzed up watching that drive, man. I still get jazzed up.

Especially since the Rams had all the momentum, we had them at 17-3 at one point before they came back to tie the game, I was on my knees in front of thr tv for that whole drive, we all held our breath as Vinatieri ran out there, then it was mayhem, the suffering was over and a dynasty was born. It couldnt have ended in a better way.

This thread inspired me to watch the entire "America's Game" video recapping the season (link below). Sometimes it's easy to forget just how special that season was, especially with all the success later in the decade. Some things that stood our for me were:

1. Lawyer Milloy. What a great leader and a great Patriot he was. He also was a strong influence on bringing BB back to New England.

2. TB sheepishly asking BB if he could go to Disney World after they won the Super Bowl.

3. Right before the final drive (it was at least edited that way) one of the Rams players says "Tom Brady...overrated"

4. When talking about the first game in which the Pats won 44-13, Lawyer Milloy says "We're 0-2, they're 2-0. No disrespect to Peyton Manning or the Colts, but we had their number."

5. Drew coming in for the AFC championship game. Looking back, I'm really happy it worked out that way and he was able to play a major part of a championship team.

6. Seeing some of the plays that weren't penalties. Corners being physical with receivers, the hit on Brady's ankle in the AFCCG, and a QB getting whacked in the head (don't remember who). It reminds me how soft the league has become.

7. Robert Kraft wore the same outfit during his first press conference as owner that he still wears to every game (light blue shirt with white collar and pink tie).

8. The story how BB buried the ball after the Miami game. I only find it funny because of how everyone here made fun of Wrecks for doing the same thing last season.
