Monkey Riding Dog at Halftime - What's Up with That?

It was Number 1 on Deion Sanders top highlights of the day segment on NFLN. I can only take Deion in small doses, but that was pretty funny.

He was also Rich Eisen's second "Sunday Standout." . . . At which point Deion proclaimed it would be #1.

Are the monkey's hands tied there?

It does appear that the monkey is, in effect, tied to the dog. If so, this is quite a cruel and sadistic form of "entertainment."

The monkey riding the dog was entertaining. The fans loved it. Who is Roger Goodell going to fine for this one?

The noise of the stadium alone would have made this wrong. Dog hearing is 28 times more sensitive than human hearing. But if the monkey is in fact tied there, that is pretty sick. Maybe I should just watch and giggle but somehow I just can't.

Very cruel. First page of the thread someone suggests if you don't laugh or smile at this you're not human. I didn't watch the video but saw a gif and happiness was the last thing I thought about. I would expect this in other countries but not here and especially not in front if 70,000 people being passed off as entertainment.

Cruel to who? The dog looked like he was having a blast being the star of the show - dogs love to run and have a purpose. The monkey looked like he was having fun, too. Neither animal was injured or mistreated.

Are you offended by the Trojan riding the Andalusian stallion around at USC football games?

That was one of the Banana Derby acts. Chill out. The Capuchin monkeys riding the dogs act is certified by the USDA and the Zoological Association of America - scientists who understand the needs of non-humans.

Save your abhorrence for dog-fighting, drug and cosmetics testing on primates, rare species trafficking and animal neglect.

The monkey was having fun? Wow I'm not really sure how to respond to that one. Just my opinion but I believe monkeys belong in the jungle. I'm also one of those weirdos who thinks zoos are cruel too.

Denver does this as their half time entertainment....except when Philly plays there.

That monkey does not look it was having fun at all.

I find it disturbing, not for the dog so much as for the monkey. Find me a monkey that would willingly do that in the wild and I'll change my mind.

Love is so unpredictable, who knew:confused2:.........

"Love is a rose and you better not pick it"

Monkey riding a dog .......................

Schottenheimer berating Sanchez once again?

Spot on
Everyone knows that in the wild monkeys only ride hyenas

In the wild, Capuchin monkeys spend most of their time evading large birds of prey, large snakes, and jaguars.

If you really want to help the monkeys, you can help out by taking one in for a year until it is ready to help a severely disabled person with daily living activities. See: Helping Hands | Foster Program

You can also visit the Mendon zoo where Helping Hands has a facility and answers questions about how you can help or acquire one for a disabled loved one.

But can they rush the passer?

The monkey's hands are not tied up ... so the monkey must love it.
I grew up with a capuchin monkey - trust me they can be stubborn if unhappy.
They do love to show off so I am going with the monkey is okay with this.

It seems like a regular gig, so maybe they are used to it and do enjoy it. The dog sure looks happy. I know nothing about monkeys so I can't judge its expressions or body language. Glad to see the monkey's hands are not tied, as I felt a little bad about making jokes when others pointed out that maybe it was being restrained.

In any event, a pretty weird half time show no matter what.
