You want him out the door if you want a HC with a fist full of rings and total control of football ops and his ticket to Canton already punched not to mention a defensive game plan already enshrined there from his own coordinator days reduced to bringing in some outside interloper to not only coordinate his defense but select the talent. He is certainly a human being prone to making mistakes just like the rest of us. However listening to you and the rest of the peanut gallery would be the biggest mistake and one he's not going to make. Were he forced to he'd probably opt to become a Lacrosse HC. And let you carry on opining about what is wrong with the patriots in that aftermath.

1. What???

2. I never said that I want the coordinator to select the talent.

That is on Belichick.

They've only recently had some solid additions through the draft, but they aren't enough, and one (McCourty) has regressed significantly.

Agreed.

If the idea is to bring in someone who help find defensive talent, then I'd support that. But we don't need a new DC.

Partially agreed. That person should be the defensive coordinator.

Ummm....yeah, you did.

They were beaten out.

Then the team should improve not regress. You are grasping straws to defense BB. How many teams/QBs had career days making plays against us? Does that not alarm you?

Over $10 MM was spent on Haynsworth, Ellis, and Ocho, for almost zero return.

You could have a top flight defensive player in the league for that money.

I'm not so concerned about bringing in a new DC more the Patriots filling the defense with a combination of draft hits and impact Free Agent signings in 2012. Injuries and the lockout have played a big part in the defensive "demise" but the lack of defensive talent must be addressed with hits.

Carter and Anderson have been a nice launch point in 2011.

Last 5 years I have seen Greenbay hit player after player, receivers(we all remeber Gennings, but they kept hitting on wrs, Nelson, James, Cobb), running backs, LBs, and DBs.
Samething with Pittsburgh at WRs and LBs.

CHFF got sloppy this times. The data they used is old. The analysis you referred to did not correctly factor in Maroney, Wheatley, Crable, Tate, Butler, Price; we were credited for them as starter (Maroney, Butler) or roster players. Now everyone knows these are draft failures (Maroney probably and Butler definitely outrank Chad Jaskson). That's 6 more fails in 1st 3 rounds the analysis did not include; making this adjustment alone will surely drop NEP out of top 10.

I've been telling people forever to show me numbers that support him being below average, but no one does. Here one site that puts that Pats at #1 over the last 10 years. It's a little outdated (for example, Maroney is no longer in the league, the first of Bill's first rounders with the Pats to not make an NFL roster, I believe) and goes all the way back 10 years, it's a ton more actual analysis than all the mindless "grass is greener" people.

Disagree, the problem is scheme and coaching.

It's coach's job to put a player in a position to succeed.

Have you notice, with this team, players usually have the best performance early then things start to go down hill, you have to ask why?

Butler could play, before he can't play.
McCourty can play, before he can't paly.
Wilhite can play, before he can't play any more.
Meriweather can play, before he can't play for this team.
Wheatley can play, before he can't play anymore.
Price can play, as in 5 catches/105 yards in one game, before he can't play.
Tate can play, before he can't play anymore.
Molden can play, before he can't play any more.

We see new guys beat out old, don't think "we got better"; b/c next week the samething will happen again. The beaten guy can come back and beat the beating guy. It's listless.

Short answer, no. The problem is the talent not the schemes. There is no way the Patriots are ever going to find any defensive coordinator who knows more about defense or how to scheme than Belichik does and bringing in someone just to give them a title makes no sense.

Ummm....yeah, you did.

You might want a refresher on reading comprehension, Mo. I said I want that person to HELP Belichick select the talent on that side of the ball. Not to do it himself. Of course Belichick should have final say on the selections, but a second opinion wouldn't hurt.

That is, of course, unless you actually LIKE seeing CB's selected high every year instead of, oh... I don't know, a DE or an OLB?
