This draft could be the deepest in years in terms of wrs.I would like to see this team draft 2 wrs at least.I wouldnt mind drafting one in the first round along with a DE.My two favorite wrs are Dwight Jones from UNC and Kendall Wright from Baylor.

Most sites don't have either of them going in the first. I like both of them. And, I like the two at Arkansas. Jarius Wright and Joey Adams. Wright is probably a little more polished as a wr. But, Adams is a little faster and had that amazing punt return at Tennessee. I think we can get a good wr in the 2nd.

No WRs in the first round....PLEASE! There are talented WRs found in the middle rounds EVERY year. I agree we need 1 or even 2 outside WRs but Pats need to keep drafting DEFENSE. Price is a guy who has spped and has shown good hands so if he can ever heal his bum hammy, he could develop.

Price is maded out of glass.I have no hope.Yes they need help on defense but also on offense.Just look at the wrs they have. Its pitiful compared to other teams that can line up 3 wrs. This team uses their TEs on the outside.

I'd gladly take Marvin McNutt at 64 and Ryan Broyles at 95. And Broyles can start the year on PUP, saving a roster spot.

McNutt is nasty!

I've got it. Draft McNutt and Broyles. Start Broyles on PUP. Move Edelman to CB for the foreseeable future. Hope Ochocinco gets his act together. Resign Welker.

Welker
Ochocinco
Branch
McNutt
Price
Slater
Edelman at CB
Broyles on PUP

There's enough talent there with Ochocinco/Branch/Price to fight for the starting job in 2012 with the goal of incorporating McNutt and Broyles more in 2013. Plus it takes up no more WR roster spots than they have now.

One guy they might want is Jarius Wright from Arkansas. He's kind of like Branch with more speed.

My early board might be something like this;
1ST Rounders
Justin Blackmon - Ok St
Alshon Jeffrey - So. Carolina
Michael Floyd - Notre Dame
Mohamed Sanu - Rutgers

2ND rounders
Dwight Jones - UNC
Jeff Fuller - Texas A&M
Kendall Wright - Baylor
Marvin McNutt - Iowa
Nick Toon - Wisconsin

3rd Rounders
Jarius Wright - Arkansas
Joe Adams - Arkansas
Juron Criner - Arizona
Lance Lewis - E Carolina
Ryan Broyles - Oklahoma

Others
Ty Hilton - Florida Int'l
Devier Posey - Ohio St

I generally don't think it's a great idea to move up but with the rookie salary caps hopefully this is the year. ( Ok, I know it will NEVER happen but still )

I think Justin Blackmon would make our O unstoppable, a big fast deep threat is our only missing piece on offense ( C can be had in the 3rd ).

If he falls to the bottom half of the top 10 I'd LOVE to see the Pats trade up to get this guy. Blackmon is going to be the next superstar WR in the NFL, his skills are off the charts.

I think that whoever the Patriots draft at WR, they have to be able to run option routes. That means reading defenses and making adjustments on the fly based on what the safeties do at the snap.

Not all WR's can do this. (See Ocho Sucko for details) However there are a couple that intrigue me as showing they might be able to work in this system.

The first is Jeffries. He propbasbly won't be available when we pick.

The other is Hilton. He has that unique ability to find dead spots in the defense, that tells me he is rerading his coverage.

On the pro level, Decker from the Broncos is a guy that BB has liked in the past. Maybe that is someone BB can pry lose from Tebowland.

I watch a lot of the Big 10 early games. McNutt is a former qb and has the size we're lacking at wr. I think he might be able to do what's required in our offense. He does drop one per game though right in the breadbasket though. Broyles from OU seems like a smart kid. Consider him in the 3rd with his knee injury. I can't wait to see the Arkansas kids against LSU's secondary tomorrow. That's a helluva matchup. Wright looks a little more polished but Adams is a fantastic athlete with the speed to separate. His punt return at Tennessee was sick.

Wright is a great blocker for his size as well. Lots of heart for that small frame. Cobi Hamilton is probably our best pro prospect but will have to wait til next year.

I just hope our OL gives them time to show what they got friday...that LSU front is nasty

I'll have more to say when I actually start looking into next years draft. Sanu does jump up because of rutgers and as a ND fan Michael Floyd is an absolute beast. Without his injuries(wouldn't call him injury prone though) he'd be ALOT more hyped. If we can get him late 1st round no doubt about it I'd draft him. Then again I still want to see what Price can do so 1st round WR may not be necessary.

I don't understand this thinking at ALL! Why would you possibly consider using valuable draft capital to draft a guy, who, if you are very lucky would only MARGINALLY improve you offense. An offense btw, which is STILL one of the top 3 in the league, DESPITE lacking a field stretching WR.

No one is denying that a top notch BIG, fast WR shouldn't be a goal. There is no one here who doubts that the offense wouldn't be improved if we had a Charles Johnson like WR. BUT..... given the inherent risk of drafting at that position, PLUS the obvious needs we have on the other side of the ball, its just ridiculous to think the Pats would move up to draft a in the top 10 for ANY position, let alone a WR.

This is especially true since its been well pointed out in this thread that there will be plenty of good prospects at the position in the 2nd and 3rd rounds

the lsu corners are going to sit on the outside wrs for arkansas and shut them down. Where arkansas can make hay is by moving adams into the slot. The slot wr and the tes should have opportunity to make plays.

LOL ok...So Price injuries his hammy and now he is made of glass?

I thought he had a great preseason. Just needs time in an offseason program yo work out the kinks and contribute big time next year.

I hope so too. Some people on his site somehow fail to understand that we run a 221 sets most of the time. Brady's trust and the WR/TE's that he knows and trusts are Wes, Gronk, Branch and Herno.

Chad is the next WR, then Julian, then Price and then Slater.

I really wish they would eventually ease either Chad or Price into the offense instead of Branch. He has been MIA for some of the games. He can't get off press, doesn't get open and looks slower than last year.

I think, as always, it probably depends on how good the prospect is. I would never advocate doing what the Falcons did in trading up 21 spots to select Julio Jones...but if that Raiders had been a little higher like we all thought it would be in the '11 draft, trading from 10 to 4, for example, for AJ Green, probably wouldn't have cost us an unbearable amount in draft capital. (At least not to me, Bill probably would have felt differently.) Of course there are still true deep threats like that available much lower in the first round, though, just looking at the last decade, guys like Reggie Wayne, Hakeem Nicks and Roddy White all went #27 or lower, so maybe it isn't such a good idea.

A guy like one of those would be more than a marginal improvement - teams wouldn't be able to clog the crossing routes in middle of the field and play press man coverage like the Steelers and Giants did. Teams can't play the Packers and Saints like they played us because those teams have multiple weapons who can get open in man coverage. That's probably why Ochocinco was brought in, but alas, it hasn't worked out so far.
