Is Cunnigham that useless

They practice and learn.

Unless they are on a loser team that only cares about showing they drafted the right guys, in which case they play in front of players who are more ready, develop bad habits and swollen heads, then are finally dumped after teams have wasted years and valuable playing time on them while not developing alternatives.

That's OK, though, because those teams get shiny new top picks which they blow to keep the fans happy for a few months until they fail again and are rewarded with the top pick again, making the draftniks ecstatic.

You have to play them, that's what the fans (of cellar dwelling teams) want.

A problem to who, message board posters? Did BB say this was a problem in the game?
It should be noted that Anderson only played in the sub packages, per Reiss' participation numbers.

Greetings,
I live in SEC country and watched Cunningham play in college. I always had the feeling that he was a really good(not great) college defensive end, who needed to bulk up and get stronger to maintain that level of play in the NFL. Almost like a project of sorts, and was surprised he went that high. In my opinion Hernandez seemed like a much better NFL pick, especially in the short term, from what I saw of both in college.

And you should be heading over to the Penn State thread ande explaining how your personal morality makes allowing men to rape children acceptable.

What comes to mind...penalty box, dunce cap, douche bag. I'd say you lost the use of your mouth at birth but your butt would beg to differ!:bricks:

So does that unintelligible mess mean that you support the comment that the moral responsibility to report a child being raped is 'mythical'? You are criticizing me for saying that the position that there is no moral responsibility to stop a child molester is vile?

Andy, I don't think he can see your comments. I think he has said you are on his ignore list last week.

FYI.

I hope we keep him around if the plan still is to go back 3-4 next year. Maybe he can make an impact in that.

And Deaderick was playing tackle instead of end and Anderson played the most snaps ever and Carter was playing in sub packages and in the base.

The fact is, we acquired some experienced vets short term and they are playing. It does not make Cunningham useless, it merely means we are playing the vets we were able to acquire.

Not sure what this has to do with anything i posted. That's all Anderson is, is a pass rusher.

I'm totally bummed that JC has been a passenger this year.

He has very little motor and can't bring the QB down when he does beat his man. He did have some clutch pressures though.

All signs point to the doghouse, but BB hasn't cut him. As BB has shown, indiscriminate cuttage, while completely disregarding depth, is not out of the question. Who the hell knows?

IMO this and always is about money with the Pats thats why the Krafts love BB. Most likely if you take BB out of the mix this is one of the lowest paid coaching staffs, thats why we have guys who should be coaching Curry college which explains why many of the 2nd& 3rd picks regress after year 1. Why do you think Romeo or Weiss didn't think of coming back? If you want to be truthful to youself and get off the bandwagon for a second just think about why no experienced NFL coaches ever talk about coaching here? Once again guys like Wheatley, Butlet,Merriweather and even Sanders should be on this team, but when you can pay a street FA 300K vs 800K vs Butler guess who wins out. They are saving a bundle with all the street FA's they have. You think this team can even beat GB your kidding yourselves. The Krafts are behind all of this BB just takes his orders but if your true fan you have to be asking yourself WTF is going on here is BB that bad in drafting?

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

BBs organizational philosophy is to bring hungry coaches through the system that aspire to be more- not be the status quo. The same was the case for Capers. He needed a career reboot and got one here.

BBs organizational philosophy is to play the better player- period. He may give a draft pick a little more latitiude than a street guy but if the pick doesn't pan out- hes gone. That has been proven time and time again.

Since 2003, the Pats have been consistently at the top of the league in cash outlay for players.

And he was pretty good last season. But the fact that he can't even get on the field as a 4-3 end (and he played 4-3 in College) is pathetic.

What is pathetic is people claiming to be fans not really watching the game and seeing tha they guy they are complaining about played the last 2 series of the game.

Still puzzled why we chose him over his much better teammate Carlos Dunlap(a sack machine for Cincinatti)

Because Cunningham was a better fit for the 3-4 OLB position since he actually knows how to set the edge to stop the run.. Something that is a must for Patriots 3-4 OLBs..

Is there a problem on this board with comprehension of English? Anderson is not particularly good against the run. If Cunningham can't earn time at Anderson's expense on rushing downs, there's a big problem with Cunningham's level of play.

As for the rest, I find your flip-flop regarding the drafting and developing of linebackers to have been one of the most blatant and amusing examples of its kind that I've seen on this site.

The problem is that Anderson, Ellis, and Deaderick are the ones lining up at the LDE position opposite Carter. Cunningham is backing up Carter. How is Cunningham supposed to get on the field when Carter rarely comes off???

Motor, instinct, and the ability to finish the job when you break into the backfield is something you can do or you can't do. Carter can do it, JC can't. BB can't coach it. JC has the right football I.Q., or else he would not have seen as much time last year at the mythical 3-4 olb spot. The guy just isn't a playmaker, and he isn't an animal. Neither of those attributes can be absorbed by being around a good coach.

As for the motive behind your post, Kraft isn't cheap. We've consistently used 90+% of the cap room. If anything, BB is too caught up in finding someone to replace a star instead of paying that top end player top end money. Even that kind of situation hasn't been applicable for four years now.

Nine games into the 2011-12 season, Cunningham has disappeared from the football field. Hard to remember the hopes some here pinned on this 2nd round draft pick. Now, Mike Reiss who speaks softly and chooses his words with care so as NOT to offend says:

"On Cunningham, I'm starting to wonder if he's just not very good. With Andre Carter playing that RDE spot, I don't expect to see much of him." (emphasis added)

That is a devastating verdict. One I hope can be reversed for the sake of the Pats.

Dunlap meanwhile is having a highly productive season. Maybe, BB should have trusted his ability to "mold" a player who had a reputation of having off-field issues.

Thanks for beating a dead horse...a dead horse that was never a fit in a 34.
