Re: ****** Official unofficial Patriots/Steelers postgame thread ******

The Patriots deserved this bit of humble pie. Good win by the Steelers.

Re: ****** Official unofficial Patriots/Steelers postgame thread ******

The TOP was because the Patriots efense couldn't keep the Steelers from marching up and down the field all game.

The Pats' 3-and-outs didn't help either.

Re: Time to bring in a DC and change of Defensive Philosophy

I would like to know why we had to include Kevin Faulk in the offense as much as we did? It seems clear that the Patriots were out coached today both by the Steelers and themselves.

Interesting, I thought he was one of the better performers on offense today. He is a good blocker back there.

Why did the post game thread start on Oct 24th

Major mod screw up. The game's failures have apparently spread to this site.

Yeah. A lot of people on here aren't getting this point.

The Steelers probably averaged 50+ yards per drive. That's ridiculous. Sure, the defense played well in the red-zone, but they couldn't stop anything before then.

Re: ****** Official unofficial Patriots/Steelers postgame thread ******

”Our defense is too complex, we need smart guys to run this ult
ra complex scheme.”
Makes sense because, 'dont get too close too receivers', 'don't forget to smell the roses on your way to the quarterback', and 'run around but don't hit anyone too hard' are not easy to understand concepts.

We're not even the old Colts, because they at least had deep threats.

We should expect a couple more cuts in the secondary and perhaps the signing of a couple lumbering turds for the defensive front 7.

So after merging a crap load of nonsense threads, I can now give some thoughts on the game.

1. This one is on the offense for not controlling the ball and putting the defense out there much longer than they needed to be.

2. The onside kick in that situation was dumb. Even if it had worked to perfection, it was dumb to do at that time. All those time outs left plus the 2 minute warning. Kick it deep and get a stop would have been the correct thing to do.

3. We are going to the Super Bowl. We lose to Pitt at Pitt in the regular season and then beat them in the playoffs (AFCCG). It's not like that never happened before.

Re: ****** Official unofficial Patriots/Steelers postgame thread ******

I know you're being sarcastic but why would Carolina accept that trade?

yea I'm kidding, but nah i wouldn't move cam if i were them for anyone over the age of 25 not named aaron rodgers. that team needs a mobile QB.

This thread is like scrambled eggs. WHERE IS THE OFFICIAL POST GAME THREAD!!! You want to merge everything else that's fine but this is plain dumb.

Re: Time to bring in a DC and change of Defensive Philosophy

Please Mods, don't move this thread, can we discuss this?

32nd ranked defense in the league, there is a big problem.

lol, apparantly we can only discuss what mods want us to discuss? wtf. This is a legit issue.

Re: ****** Official unofficial Patriots/Steelers postgame thread ******

Personnel is the issue. Guyton and Ihedigbo starting, Molden getting lots of PT, those guys don't belong outside of special teams and occasional reps at defense.

The Merriweather, Crable, Wheatley, Wilhite, Butler, Cunningham, Brace picks should all be solid contributors for our defense right now.

Yes. A lot of wasted picks in the early rounds of drafts, with 2010 being an outlier. It's crucial to have strong drafts to sustain success. That hasn't been happening.

Re: ****** Official unofficial Patriots/Steelers postgame thread ******

Only one Pitts punt with 28 second left of the 4th qtr, that was some kind of defense.

The scary thing is the DB are probably not going to be any better than they played. There is just no talent.

Teams are also figuring out they can outmuscle our two midget WRs and take any quick reads out from Brady.

It also shows that the D didn't force a punt until late in the 4th quarter. There's plenty of blame to go around today, but at least we know that the offense typically can produce. On the basis of that, I don't think it's unreasonable to give them a bit of a pass. They can't play their best game every week.

Seems like the fact that they play only well in the red zone is because we can't play well spread out over the field.

That points to the secondary not being able to match up and needing smaller areas to cover to make up for it.

I think that's what they're expected to do. Trade FGs for TDs.

You cant play offense without the ball. They had consistant long drives. No offense can overcome that. They beat us with their offense.

Is the patriots offense overrated. That brady long incomplete pass to price is why rodgers is better than brady. Brady doesn't throw well on the run, Price was open and a more mobile qb completes that pass. I'm more worried about the offense than defense.

Brady doesn't throw the deep ball well period.

Interesting, I thought he was one of the better performers on offense today. He is a good blocker back there.

But he was slow. I saw a couple of good lanes to run through, which a faster rb (like ridley) could make big plays with. Faulk was not explosive.

I'm not going to deny that Faulk had a decent performance on his return but the running game did nothing to help the passing game today either by design or personnel.

I really don't like when the Pats go panicky on offense and one dimensional. Today was another illustration of that.

1.) The merge was butchered

2.) The offense has to actually get the ball in order to do something with it. This loss is all on the defense.

3.) This team's not going to the Super Bowl unless there are major changes made to both the personnel and the schemes.

Woodhead should not be KR.
