If you are so far blaming this game on the DEFENSE, you know nothing about this team. This game so far is about the offense and the lack thereof. We know what our defense is, but we need to expect more then this crap from our offense.

I've been closely watching every defensive assignment on all defensive snaps. Our defensive scheme is just WEIRD. Whose idea is this, Matt Patricia's?

They don't really have a SS or FS, they split the fields between the safeties and both play deep. Usually under these type of coverages, the scheme is to have the CB's play closer at the line since they have safety help. But the Pats are not playing press coverage, they are playing a lot of zone and the players are doing a poor job picking up players in their zones.

In terms of covering the tight end, there is usually nobody tasked with covering the tight end. It's a very soft zone and the middle of the field is wide open almost every play.

Danny "Brings It Out to the 21" Woodhead

Just a word of note, the Patriots have to make returner a priority in the off-season. When was the last time this team broke a decent run for field position?

I have been challenging all you patriot fan boys all year this coach should be stripped of his gm duties this season his inability to draft talent and his refusal to pay talented free agents has doomed I say doomed this team. Get used to it folks they ain't winning it again. Because there defense has no talent and guess what it sux. Because this gm/coach can't draft anymore. And If you dare to challenge me you are nothing more than another stupid fan. Did you hear me da bruins??? If it wasn't for Brady the 2011 nit the 2008 patriots would have 4 wins. At least in 2008 some guys could play. Blichick has killed this team with his drafting and free agency. It's a joke.

once again, as in last year's playoff game, this team is ILL PREPARED coming off a bye week.....

pissing away Brady's remaining years with this defense....

quite sad actually!!

I'm not sure I recall having so little faith that the pat's could make up a 10 point deficit. Then again it's seldom we're down by 10.

We will win this game. This is adversity and this team needs it for where we are going. We will come through. I said, watch it and just shut up.

From your lips to god's ears

i can understand the defense crappiness but only 10 points by the offense so far?

Time of Poessession

Steelers punter is currently in Hawaii in advance of their bye week.

Re: The worst thing about today blowout

The games not over yet.

Late hit...

Woodhead cant return for crap. Time to get a TD, this offense needs to show up.

I'd like to thank everyone who is quoting BendButDontBreak37 and rendering my ignore list useless

Gronk!!!! then late hit.:rocker:

why dont we go to our TE's as our saving grace

Bedard update

Like we talked about in our five keys post before the game, the Patriots are going to have to find a way to get more pressure on QB Ben Roethlisberger to have a chance at stopping the Steelers’ offense. The two sacks they got were coverage sacks. The Patriots need to affect Roethlisberger.
Playing zone defense is predicated on getting a reasonable amount of pressure. After about three seconds, receivers are going to find the soft spots in the zone.
Surprised in passing situations the Patriots are going with Nate Solder at RT exclusively. Steelers OLB LaMarr Woodley (two sacks) is more of a speed rusher and Solder can handle speed. Plus, Vollmer has five weeks of rust.
Overall, the offensive line must be better in the second half. There have been false starts and sloppy play. Patriots need to execute.
Steelers are being very physical with TE Rob Gronkowski, who had three TDs against them last year. Patriots might want to think about swapping Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez. Hernandez has been lined up wide most of the time. Might be better to split Gronkowski out.
Patriots need to dig up some man coverage beaters in the second half. They obviously weren’t prepared for so much man-to-man from the Steelers. That was **** LeBeau’s wrinkle for this game.
You wonder where the Patriots would be in this game if Roethlisberger hadn’t thrown the interception to Gary Guyton. Really kept them in the game.
Love having Kevin Faulk back, but he can be too much of a security blanket for the offense. He's playing too many snaps. Gets the offense away from their strengths.
i think his point of steelers playing lot of man to man instead of the standard zone has got to our offense. This is the way to beat brady as rodney keeps saying instead of zone esp if our skill players cant win 1-1 battles.
