I don't think so- I think they will focus specifically on taking Wallace out by isolating a safety on top of him at all time, and leaving Chung in rover. I would not be surprised if we are in the nickel or ruby with three safeties.

They could put all four DBs on Wallace and he'd still coast their sorry asses.

The Steelers blow this year though. Superbowl hangover. They have yet to beat a team with a winning record.

I don't think 5-2 is considered "blowing" Steelers gonna be tough no matter how much Brady owns them.

Out of the past 10 years, the Steelers have made the playoffs 7/10 times, been to 4 AFC Championship's, 3 Super Bowls and notched 2 Super Bowl victories. The only years they missed the playoffs was 2003/2006/2009. For being an "average" QB, Ben's playoff record is 10-3, #2 for active quarterbacks behind Brady at 14-5. Not quite catching your drift?

Ben is a Jeff Hostetler/Phil Sims/Trent Dilfer, nothing more. He benefits from a top 3 defense every year. When they are down, he leads them to 8-8 or 9-7. The Steelers won Super Bowl XL in spite of him and his worst ever QB rating of 26. He is never mentioned by anyone outside of allegheny county as elite, never a MVP candidate, heck even the players voted him as only the 7th best QB in the league last year. If Brady had that defense his whole career he'd have 8 rings.

You could probably make a similar argument for Ben if he had Brady's line. He's had to run for his life basically his whole career.

Definitely looking forward to this game. Both teams will measure themselves on the outcome of this game. Wouldn't be surprised if this game decided home-field for the playoffs.

If the OL can keep Brady relatively clean, I see the Pats coming up on top.

I hate Ben as much as the next guy, but Cowher took that team over in the early 90s. He went to the AFCC and had strong contending teams how many years and kept coming up just short. Never won a ring until Ben became his QB... I don't think it's a coincidence.

I've been a Steelers fan all my life, and the perception of winning with flying colors quickly became the norm of the new decade thanks to the passing frenzy leauge created by Brady and Manning so I understand when watching a Steelers game (being Pats fans so use to seeing dominant offense's) that they don't look good but I assure you, winning ugly is our motto and the Steelers have been winning that way, decade by decade, since I can remember. As Tomlin says "We aren't interested in style points." No matter how bad Pittsburgh may look, they are always in it and find ways to win. Always gritty.

I also never understood how Pats fans underrated their OWN defense over their Super Bowl years. You guys act like you won the SB with a bunch of scrubs on defense. Bruschi, Law, Samuel, Seymour, Milloy, Harrison, Vrabel, etc. All those years facing the high-powered Colts in the post-season, it was the Pats D stepping up in the spotlight more than ever so Brady did have a solid defense on the opposite end.

As far as Ben being a Dilfer, that's just as asinine and ludicrous as a statement could get. If you could watch Roethlisberger closely, the fierce competitor he displays weekly is incredible. He makes plays people would dream of making under heavy amounts of pressure and under duress. Sure, it's a different style than Brady who's all rhythm and timing, as well as having 10 seconds to throw the ball but Ben is just as dangerous in what he does. If you would read how defenders like Terrelle Suggs, Jason Taylor, Ed Reed countless number of others, they say Roethlisberger gives them the most fits because he's so big and so unpredictable. Believe it or not, the Steelers defense has broken down MANY of times, paving the way for Roethlisberger's clutch 4th QRT comebacks time and time again since 2004.

As far as XL, Ben didn't play his best game, maybe his worst ever but what he did in that post season run was all on his arm, let alone making the game saving tackle at Indianapolis.

Fierce competitor?

I mean I'll give him his due- he is a tough son of a *****- he plays with all kinds of injuries, and how he absorbs all those blows and stays upright even as he gets hit hard, I don't know, and some of his throws are impressive- but let's be realistic, we're only looking at a larger version of Favre.

The guy doesn't lift weights, shows up in camp overweight, can't even read defenses to know where the pressure is coming from and can't identify the active blitz to save his life. He holds the record for lowest QB rating in a superbowl with 22.6. You guys get far on your defense, and personnel, not because of him.

I see McCourty getting his first pick this week with mr.rape throwing 3 of them

Pats D will continue to get better and the bye week only helped them...IS IT SUNDAY YET!?!?!

Can't wait for this game. Too bad I have to watch it online. Ugh.

There's always Eddie Georges or Buffalo Wild Wings. The BWs on 5th Ave gets a pretty good Patriots turnout. Not sure where you are in Columbus, though.

I agree, the Dilfer comments are really out there. Ben is a competitor as you say and he is one of the best QB's in the league. He's won 2 super bowls. He has elevated his game quite a bit over the years and is definately a threat this Sunday.

I'm pretty sure a lot of fans here undervalue BR as a qb probably because of his lack of success against the Patriots and also may have bias against him due to some of the allegations in his personal life. Personally you can't argue with success. He's had it.

BTW I don't think there is a fan here in New England that undervalued our defense in the super bowl years. If anything we all thought our defense was never give their due. We knew what we had and are still hoping for that kind of success again on the other side of the field.

Ah. I know those places b/c I go to Ohio State. I commute from Hilliard (Taylor Price's hometown suburb). I'm not a fan of going to BWW or other places unless it's with fellow Pats Fans.

I like Ben as a QB,in act he's the only player on that stinking team I actually like as a player.

Off the field though it's another story, although I hope marriage will have straightened him out and the past is the past.

I mean, I'm glad I'm not the only one here on the board that will say this. 85 Bears, 86 Giants, 00 Ravens, 08 Steelers etc. Just an avg QB with a great defense. I mean let's be honest here, you ask anyone 9 out of 10 people to name the best QB's in the game and they are going to say Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, and Rivers before they say Ben, and the one person that puts ben in the top 5 or 6 is from pittsburgh.

Yea there are going to be a good amount of Steeler fans out as there usually are. The BWs on Lane & High (which is right by my house) always has a lot of Steeler fans (as does Eddies) but the one on W. 5th Ave always has a decent amount of Patriots fans. I try to make it out there a couple times a year. It's the only place around Columbus that I've found that consistently has Patriots fans.

Brady and R'berger have one thing in common.

They are on teams that fit their skillsets.

I highly doubt Brady would be successful in Pittsburgh with that line and the dummy receivers.

R'berger could never master the Patriots offense and BB would have him strung up by week 2. I have always wondered what Kevin O'Connell would have been if he was in Pittsburgh.

IMO, the other thing they have in common is that they can still be successful if you take away their primary read. They keep their cool and focus until they can identify a good matchup. Ben has his football IQ questioned but there are a number of starting QBs in the league that are effectively useless if their primary read isn't open.

Ben may not be a genius at deciphering defenses, but the Steelers don't ask him to be. He gets in trouble when his desire to hit the big play combines with his OLs inability to give him the time to do that. He is just stubborn that way...but what do you expect from a guy that survives a 50 mph headbutt to a car.

Brady is the only above par QB they will play this year, they will still go 12-4 and make it to the playoffs. Once there though I think reality hits them and they get worked.

Keep R'berger in the pocket

Make Brady go outside the pocket.

Anyone who puts Rivers ahead of Roethlisberger is foolish. I have no problem with the other 4 guys being ranked ahead of Ben (although by not as big a margian as many of you seem to think) but Rivers is a fantasy QB who has never won anything.
