Vikings cut Berrian

And which of these four do you want taken off of the field so that Ocho can get those catches?

Welker
Hernandez
Branch
GRONK

Facts are no one other than those four are going to be putting up the production you want from the teams 5th option.

Gronkowski does not belong on the list. Ochostinko is not a blocking tight end who chips and goes into a route, so he takes nothing from anyone there.

As for the other three guys, Ochostinko should be a reasonable alternative for any of them depending on the coverage. Ocho is fast, tall and has good hands. If he could understand the play calling and run a precise route he'd be a great addition. The guy is mystified by this offense and a diva who obviously can't handle criticism.

In a four wide-receiver set, the wonder of these four is that each should be able to run the route that the defense dictates and adjust to what the coverage actually becomes. Ochostinko hasn't proven he can either run the prescribed route or make the adjustment required depending on how he is covered. Therefore he is not on the field in critical situations.

Gronk does belong on the list because he is one of the players out producing Ocho. For Ocho to be getting the 5 or 6 catches a game the post I was replying to to happen, someone has to give up catches.

The rest of this is the standard "he's not getting it" stuff being spewed by everyone except for the people that matter (you know, the coach, QB and rest of the team).

I'm not saying he's not a disappointment for what most people thought we were getting, but I'm also realistic and believe he's getting the limited chances because of game planning and welker and branch being joined at the mind with TB.

No no no no no.

You're right. It would totally be like Bill Belichick and Tom Brady to come right out and say Ocho sucks. That sounds exactly like something they would do.

I'm also realistic

I am not overrating Berrian.I want them to bring him in for a workout.I am willing to try anything at this point.I am sick of Ocho. He;s useless!!!Branch doesnt get separation consistently. The bottom line is this team has awful wr production from the outside!

What has Berrian done that shows he's better than Ochocinco? He has worse production so far this season, and his production last season was way worse than what Ocho is on pace for right now. Last season alone, Brandon Tate produced more than Berrian's last 19 games (5 this season, 14 last season). Berrian hasn't scored a TD in the last 25 regular season games that he's been active for. Berrian was skipping meetings, questioned his role on the team, and got into an argument on Twitter with state lawmaker John Kriesel. I understand people wanting an upgrade at WR, but Berrian is half the WR Ochocinco is and 5 times the headache right now.

Branch may end up being the first JAG to go to the Patriots Hall Of Fame

Branch a JAG...how stupid

right now Bernard Berrian is a 30 year old Brandon Tate

im interested to see if the bye-week has done anything for ocho...if he can put it together and understand how to change his route based on the coverage, he can be an asset for this team offensively.

I dont think we can ever expect 5-6 catches a game...because of the nature of the pats offense which likes to run a 2WR/2TE/1RB set for most of the snaps, but if he can put up 2-3catches and 30-50yards a game I would say that's good. he has been a bust so far, but im not quite ready to give up on him yet..

I don't know. You don't know either. BB apparently thought Brandon Lloyd could, although he reportedly balked once he heard Lloyd's contract demands.

how many times has the media been right? you shouldn't belive anything untill you hear it from him himself.

I've been defending the Johnson trade because of the odd offseason, but let's not pretend he's been some amazing upgrade to this point. So far, he's been Tate with better hands on out patterns, but with even more mental mistakes and with no special teams help. I'm for letting him keep getting snaps because they don't seem to have anyone else, but it's not because I think they've been playing possum with the guy.

one mental mistake, and it happend on a key drop. yes ill give you that bad timing. look im not trying to say hes been great because he hasn't. but hes a proven wr in the nfl and when we need him i expect him to be good.

Nonsense.... Noticing team problems is not a product of being spoiled.
i understand that, but if the 5 option on offense is ocho stop blowing it way out of proportion. how many teams is 4 deep? heck 3 deep?
it still amazes me that everybody blows the patriots problems way out of proportion. for example every team in the nfl would love to have ocho as a backup

It still amazes me that homers don't admit the obvious because they have to pretend that the Patriots are the best at every single thing, in every single situation. For example, there's no way in hell that every team in the NFL would love to have Johnson as a backup.

Hyperbole or acid reflux? We may never know......

Ochocinco is almost as bad as Joey Galloway was.

As a Pats fan in Vikes terrority, I can 1 star this thread with authority.
I also nominate it for the practice squad and sentence the author to a 500 word essay on why you it is better to think before you post.

So saying ocho is a great back up makes me a homer, maybe you came a fan in 07 but this is not fantasy football you don't need 6
Number1 wr you need players who can handle that some Weeks you will have no catches and some Weeks 10.

Johnson hasn't gotten the job done when called upon. That makes him NOT a great backup. That's pretty much by definition. Again, I've spent most of the season defending Johnson, but your position is just ridiculous.

Johnson has blown **** and has been a significant downgrade from Tate at this point (special teams + WR). Tate tailed off as the season progressed so Ochosuckass still has a chance to redeem himself but it's looking highly unlikely.

I don't think that is accurate. I seem to remember Chad making some important catches in key drives. Except for his one big drop which didn't matter in the end, he has "gotten the job done" when asked. The issue really is that he hasn't been asked all that much. Personally, I'd like to see a bit more blamed heaped on Brady for not trying to work guys like Chad and Price a bit more into the offense. I think he is tending to zero in more on his favorites again. Or maybe its that B.O.B. isn't changing it up enough where other receivers are the primary target in plays.
