How was the crowd today?

So how'd we do on the noise level today? Sounded pretty loud on tv but I think fox mixes in a lot of crowd noise.

I was at a bar down in Texas today, I always carry a pats jersey in my bag should I be stuck somewhere on a Sunday... Man was it sweet watching those obnoxious cowpie fans file out.. Thanks Tom, I don't think I could've handled them had they won.

I thought it sounded good. Although as someone pointed out that could have something to do with the Fox broadcast. I was at the game last week and I thought it sounded loud at the stadium, but when I watched it on my DVR it was unimpressive. But yesterday I actually commented to my wife a couple times that the crowd was doing a good job. During big moments the noise level seemed to rise dramatically. I did also notice that there was way too much cheering when something bad happened, at first I thought maybe some fans had seen the play wrong, but from reading this it seems that it was due to there being a large number of Dallas fans there. Too bad.... :(

Your story seems fishy to me ... I've had season tickets since 1994 and have missed only three home games in all those years. I've never heard/seen/been told of security telling people to sit down during games. Ever. Not myself or anyone in my section (204 in old Foxboro Stadium, 227 in Gillette) or anyone else I know of who has season tix. Yet, we have folks here complaining about it on Patsfans.com. And, a guy with an end zone seat reading the Wall Street Journal? Blue-shirted security? The security I see wears yellow. Plus, I highly doubt someone would lose his season tix just for standing; sorry, but this seems like b.s.

One thing I have no problem with at all is people being asked to sit when the Pats have the ball. But that usually takes care of itself. I ALWAYS stand and yell for the defense on third down (as does most of the section) and during other, key defensive downs. NOT ONCE in 18 seasons have I been yelled at to sit down by fellow fans, let alone told to by security.

I'll also note that the whole stadium was standing during the Pats' last offensive drive, and that most everyone stands for every play, offense and defense, during playoff games. Again, no complaints heard.

Can someone educate this young man and tell him that the blue shirts actually are in charge of stadium security while the yellow shirts report to them. We had 1 blue shirt and three yellow shirts visit our section and tell us that we cannot stand because someone complained about us. They are trying to turn this crowd into pink hat nation from Fenway park. Before you know it we will be singing Sweet Caroline after touchdowns!!!! Maybe we can do a patriots dating show called Pats Appeal!!!!

If you are a longtime season ticket holder as you say, I'd complain to the team. There is no suggestion in the team's official code of fan conduct that standing during games is prohibited. I suggest you look into it and report back what they tell you.

I'd like to know: when were you standing, for how long, and who had the ball? I definitely could understand being asked to sit down when the Pats have the ball, especially in the end zone where the other end of the field is hard to see. But if it happened when the Pats were on defense, especially during third down, there is no excuse and I personally would not comply.

Our section in the end zone stands for the majority of the game no matter who has the ball. I'm not sure if you can see the end zone from your nose bleed seats, but if you bring binoculars to the next game look at the south end zone. You will notice that we stand for the majority of the game.

Longtime STH. Had the pleasure of being visited by stadium security yesterday during the first quarter. Apparently there were complaints from above that we were standing to much. Although I don't agree we try and follow the "policy" of only standing on 3rd downs, big plays, (and if the people in front of me are standing). I tried to point out to the security staff that the entire section in front of me was standing but he told us to just be loud from our seats.

Wow - I didnt see this orginally but I guess Tunscribe didn't do his homework. I guess the security team (blue shirts) can't get up to that altitude where your season tickets are located. Maybe the can parachute in from one of the flyovers. Shoud we question wheather strongside is a sth as well??? He is another season ticket holder who was told that they couldnt stand.

The south end zone is just over my right shoulder; I'm in 227 (mezzanine, not the upper deck). The south end zone fans always seem to do a good job of helping the defense. Just tell whoever asked you to sit down to take a running jump.

I too am a season ticket holder and wish the crowd would understand that noise is a great advantage for our defense. I find it amazing that people frown upon crowd noise when the Pats defense is on the field regardless is it is 3rd down or not. Seattle's "12th man" prides themselves on making it extremely difficult for opposing teams. I would never disrespect someone around me but I will stand and make noise. That's part of the game at every stadium. It's just not an advantage here.

I was in section 136 for the game...I get 2 or 3 games a year from a friend who has season tickets. I thought the crowd was as loud or louder than I have heard in some time. We were standing much of the game, and everyone around me was yelling the entire game. But, sign me up for the list of people who think the stadium design has alot to do with the noise issue.
I did think there were alot of Cowboy fans. Last year I went to the green bay game (The Dan Connolly Return game....lol) and there were a ton of GB fans, too.

Seriously? That is bloody ridiculous. Someone should bring it to the attention of players/coaches because they will be pissed. Next thing you know they'll be asking you to 'Keep it down' on 3rd downs.

I was absolutely told to sit down many many times on Sunday when the Patriots were on defense. Maybe it wasn't always 3rd down but I'm of the mindset that you shouldn't suddenly start caring and trying to create a homefield advantage when its 3rd down, why not be loud on 1st down? Maybe it is me, but I have had this happen every time I've gotten the chance to go to Gillette.

The quality of pro football makes the game more enjoyable to watch, but if you've ever spent time at a university or going to a lot of college football games you know that the atmosphere at pro games is paltry in comparison, at best.

Pro football crowds suck and ticket prices are pure larceny.

We had a visit from a stadium securty (blue shirt). He told us that we could no longer stand. He said an indivdual complained about us standing!!!

Not only is that rediculous, it's phucking sickening! Almost justifies me turning down a ticket Sunday to enjoy the game w my son in HD.

We're in 136 too and are probably standing for at least 75% of the plays, maybe more. Pretty much the whole section does it so I'd be really surprised if someone complained if it would be favorably received by anyone. Plenty loud on Sunday but who let all those Cowboy fans in? Most were OK but there were a few that were truly obnoxious and it was probably the biggest number of an opposing team's fans that I've seen in quite a while. It was one of the few games where there was a fair amount of noise when our offense was on the field because of all the Dallas fans. They sure got quiet at the end.

It would be funny if these weren't legitimate complaints. As a resident of Philly and lifelong Pats fan, I've been to many games at Veterans Stadium, The Linc, Foxboro and Gillette. The Linc holds about 10,000 less than Gillette, IIRC, and I've never seen a game at Gillette that comes close to matching the noise level.

At times the noise is down, especially early in the 3rd qtr while eveyone is still in lines for the concessions and the bathrooms, but this season it's been loud. Not as loud as the old stadium, but that's due to the increased size of the stadium and, even moreso, because of the open side next to the lighthouse.

Last Sunday, I took a smoke break, leaving my seat in 304, row 3, and watched from the ramp. The noise level there was much louder than inside the stadium - all the sound went flowing out, not up.

Where were all of you guys a week ago? I was a little critical of the crowd situation, and attacked for it, IIRC someone even implied I was not a patriots fan because of it! Lol.

Anyway, what I learned after the discussions was that the crowd has been getting better as of late, and the cowboys game could have been evidence of this. There were a large handful of false start penalties, and who's to say why that really happened, but nonetheless it is a very good sign!

If the crowd can be pumped up enough to mess with the other team, then they are doing a good job.

That happens a lot on here.

Be careful. Many posters find reality disagreeable.
