Raiders at it again, close to trading for Palmer

Wow, the Bengals are rippin' everybody off. First the Patriots and now the Raiders.

Wow. A 1st and at least another 2nd for a soon-to-be 32 year old quarterback who hasn't practiced all year and has been playing mediocre football for the past few seasons?

The Raiders better win the Super Bowl, in my opinion, for this trade to be considered a success.

I hate this move ...two 1st's for an aging QB ..who has not played in a long time.......this is highway robbery......

I think Palmer can learn their offense pretty quickly. I've seen it. All their plays are 20-handoff-left, 20-handoff-right, 20-screen-left, etc. How hard is that? :)

How did the Bengals rip the Pats off? Or are you just talking out your blow hole?

Helps to actually read. It is not two first round picks. It's a 1st and a 2nd.

Still highway robbery..

I'm sure you know all about blow holes. Is that how you got all the sand in your vagina? Going down to the beach to look for whales?

wow this is unbelievable!!

when kyle boller is your backup option, you'll do some crazy things

i hate hearing two first round picks...the raiders are not going to win a playoff game, so it's a 1st and a 2nd. unless carson palmer of 5 years ago shows up, cincy came out way ahead.

this is the same cincy team that rejected 2 1st round pcks for ocho a couple years ago. smh

oakland gave up too much but then again, palmer killed san diego last year

so oakland DID get better overnight

The Bengals get the second 1st round pick if the Raiders make the playoffs, doesn't matter if they win a game.

Raiders are currently tied for the second best record in the AFC right now and are a half game behind the Chargers for the AFC West lead. They also have wins over the Jets and Texans, which may help in the Wild Card scenario.
It does appear that people have forgotten that the Raiders are 4-2 and appear to be a more than reasonable team in 2011. Despite the price, the acquisition of Carson Palmer means they have a better QB than Jason Campbell and Kyle Boller immediately.

For the record, I think the Chargers will win the AFC West. That leaves the Raiders fighting out for a wildcard spot. It makes for some interesting sub plots as the season progresses.

im assuming he means Ocho, so far there is not a bit of evidence that will go against his statement....

Palmer is reunited with his previous 2 time Offensive Coordinator (Cincy & USC) I think if anyone can get anything out of this guy, it's Hue Jackson. Steep price to pay, especially with the Raiders not having a pick in the first 4 or 5 rounds of this year's draft. But it may work out for them this season by taking them to a division win and maybe they'll be active in FA to try and even things out for next season

A 32 year old QB that has been a stiff for three years for TWO 1st rounders over...

A 26 year old QB that has been Bradys backup since his rookie year, who has shown promise, for probably MUCH less.

I'm a loss of words for ths terrible trade, good job Bengals rebuilding, on the right path. I wonder if Belichick tried to persuade the moronic Raiders for Hoyer?

Palmer was totally underwhelming under Hue's tutelage at USC. He didn't have his breakout season until his senior year, his second season under Hue's replacement, Norm Chow. Hue was never the OC in Cincy, he was the WR's position coach.

It makes you appreciate the succession planning the New England Patriots attempt to employ for most positions on the roster doesn't it?

If true, I think this is a ridiculous trade.

I think Palmer is done. He has really declined the last several years.

Wildly overpaying.

how's he done? he threw for 26 TDs and almost 4000 yards last year.

This will NOT be a Jim brown Trade like scenario...

RB that was traded for the World.

I'm trying to find what was given up. I think it was Brown that was traded for a KINGDOM:confused:

we will not see Luck command a Brown like deal (it will still be a STEEP Price:eek:

Jim Brown retired young, was never traded from the Browns. You're probably thinking of Herschel Walker- the Vikings paid a ridiculous price to get him from the Cowboys; that trade basically launched the Cowboys' 1990s dynasty.

Just looked it up on Wikipedia:

Minnesota Vikings received
RB Herschel Walker
Dallas's 3rd round pick - 1990 (54) (Mike Jones)
San Diego's 5th round pick - 1990 (116) (Reggie Thornton)
Dallas's 10th round pick - 1990 (249) (Pat Newman)
Dallas's 3rd round pick - 1991 (68) (Jake Reed)

Dallas Cowboys received
LB Jesse Solomon
LB David Howard
CB Issiac Holt
RB Darrin Nelson (traded to San Diego after he refused to report to Dallas)
DE Alex Stewart
Minnesota's 1st round pick in 1990 (21) (traded this pick along with pick (81) for pick (17) from Pittsburgh to draft Emmitt Smith)
Minnesota's 2nd round pick in 1990 (47) (Alexander Wright)
Minnesota's 6th round pick in 1990 (158) (traded to New Orleans, who drafted James Williams)
Minnesota's 1st round pick in 1991 (conditional) - (12) (Alvin Harper)
Minnesota's 2nd round pick in 1991 (conditional) - (38) (Dixon Edwards)
Minnesota's 2nd round pick in 1992 (conditional) - (37) (Darren Woodson)
Minnesota's 3rd round pick in 1992 (conditional) - (71) (traded to New England, who drafted Kevin Turner)
Minnesota's 1st round pick in 1993 (conditional) - (13) (traded to Philadelphia Eagles, and then to the Houston Oilers, who drafted Brad Hopkins)[1]

For the record, I think that this trade has a real shot to be the worst since that one.

In all honesty this is how great teams are formed (for the bengals i mean).

They have their QB and WR for the future they believe. Have had high 1st and 2nd round draft picks over the last 4 years. Now they get 2 1sts this year and possibly next. That can really help set a team up.

In saying that the pats have the same situation atm drafting wise... thats why i love em
