I still don't understand why Guyton is on this team .. I just don't see what BB sees in him .. He just has no INTENSITY .. He just lolly gags out there .. And his cute little ankle thinks

Because he is the best guy they have who understands the Defensive calls and wears the dot. He has been Mayo's understudy for about threes years now. While others are chatting away on twitter and other places, he is in there with Mayo understanding the playbook.
It is unfortunate that he is limited as a player, but it appears he is the best candidate to relay what the coaches want to the rest of the guys out there.

BB already covered that in his post game presser. The tackling needs to get better. A couple of guys in our secondary looked like matadors today.

But still, when the chips were down, the defense held the Cowboys to FGs in the red area, and produced that critical 3 and out that gave Brady and the offense the ball with 2:40 left so they could go on that game-winning drive. Without that stop, we lose the game, so the D does deserves a lot of credit for the win as well.

A true Kick Returner like Vereen will be looking to hit the hole at the 20 yardline and be gone. Ridley is looking to run someone over at the 20 yardline. Never thought I would miss Brandon Tate, but if Ridley returns one more kickoff, it will be one too many!

Other than the fact Vereen was a kick returner in college? I am pretty sure Vereen is up to the daunting task of getting the ball out to the 20 yard line.

Edelman was a quarterback in college too. Vereen's time will come, he will be eased in; not put into the spotlight when all the pressure is on.

I also noticed all the missed/broken Tackles, it would be one thing if the RB was Michael Turner or Ray Rice, but it was Felix Jones and DeMarco Murray. At least the other defenders weren't standing around expecting the first guy or two to take em down, they did a great job swarming to the ball.

I agree with this. Seems there are some that really have their minds made up that he is useless and are viewing everything regarding Guyton through that lens. I thought he played a good game today from what I could tell.

Glad they pulled that one out but the gotta stop making so many little mistakes over the course of the game. And there were a few instances where Belichick should have challenged but he didn't. Lots to improve upon before the next game.

This is the credited response. The staff trusts Ridley to get it out to the 20 or 25 and, more importantly NOT FUMBLE. They have no reason to trust Vereen to do the same.

they have no reason not to trust Vereen since he's never fumbled in a game situation for them..

How are people not mentioning the piss poor tackling...absolutely absymal.

How is it that YOU can't actually read because people have been mentioning it... Numerous times.. In numerous threads...

Great performance by the Patriots D. I felt like this would be their biggest challenge of the season and they did an unbelievable job. Nice to get a win going into the bye week. The next three games (@Pitt, NYG, @Jets) are gonna be toughies.

Fletcher actually showed better understanding in pre-season and late in the Jets game than Guyton has shown all year.

And just as an aside, the Pats coaches thought that Barrett and Brown were better candidates at Safety than Sanders and Meriweather and we know how that has turned out..

Umm.. I think you are under-rating both Jones and Murray.. Neither is a chump running back..

Great game by our defense. They bailed out our offense tonight and gave them an opportunity after our offense failed so often.

Spikes I thought had his best game as a Patriot. Lots of clutch plays when we needed it there at the end.

Our DLine in general played pretty well. Carter provided pressure, got to the backfield and finally got called when being held.

One thing I did notice was how the Cowboys got yards after first contact. Our defenders had a hard time taking those guys down.

Murray is the bigger back, but Felix from what I've seen over the past few years goes down pretty easy.

I'm still amazed at how some ppl were throwing brady under the bus just before that final drive:confused:.

Even if we lose TB usually scores on a final drive and i'll always eat my fingers watching lol.

Stay away from game threads lol I learned my lesson after the Chargers game...if the defense gives up points we are the worst we never going to win another playoff game blah blah if the offense messes up, Brady's lost a step he's not clutch anymore etc

Yeah, the game threads get crazy, but I tend to cut people slack in there. It's just the immediate, visceral reaction of a bunch of hardcore fans -- cheering, screaming, weeping, probably other bodily functions we don't even want to know about. What fan hasn't gotten a little too high at the highs, and a little too low at the lows? :)

True, I'm generally a train wreck every game. idk I joined this site towards the end of last season and I'm still learning the difference between a knee jerk reaction and a troll.

The troll is never sorry in the morning?

The Jet troll is.....imagine waking up to THIS lying next to you?.....
